You know you’re a traditional Catholic when…
…you consider reading some of the posts in the “Traditional Catholicism” section of this forum to be “intellectual mortification”.

😉

You know you’re a Traditional Catholic when you read these kind of jokes and consider them more along the lines of how to live the faith in small matters.

You have a huge store of pithy and useful encapsulations of faith in your head–such as
“Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity”–which show up almost as an involuntary response when needed.

For instance, when you hear the question: Why did God make you?
this is the exact first answer that pops into your mind:
God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world,
and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven
.”

Oh, and you know the capital sins, the spiritual works of mercy, the corporal works of mercy…

And you don’t need a bulletin to remind you what the Holy Days of Obligation are. You do need the bulletin to keep the times straight when the obligation has been abrogated in your diocese, but it doesn’t matter, because you’re going to Mass, anyway.

Oh, and even now, you struggle with a visceral hatred of all religious artwork rendered in felt.😃

When you oder pizza, and when it arrives, you proudly enter the room with it and intone “Dominoes Vobiscum” and everyone gets the joke.

your kids are having an argument that escalates to name-calling and one of them gives the ultimate blow by calling the other “you - you - you PROTESTANT!!!”
On that day, I knew our conversion was complete!

Diplomacy huh?

Penuria est alius exempoator de quare communis sensus non est tamquam communis. Supra totus in trads.
Consueta* progresivists* sunt melior ad illa. Eos possunt fake ut necessitas.

Et ego conosco latina meus est pessimus.

And that makes you a traditional Catholic how? Do you really think that those who attend the OF do not have priests over for dinner?
The only families I know who have invited a priest over for dinner now worship almost exclusively under the Extraordinary Form.

You have more scapulars than most Catholic goods stores, in a drawer at home.

You’re family thinks your a little off, but probably harmless.

You’re in-laws (under the age of 80) aren’t so sure about the harmless part.

You’re the only one bowing his head during part of the creed at an OF mass (it could also be argued this makes you the only functionally literate person there, too 🙂
:rotfl: LOL! So true!

When you’re a priest and your decriptions of Hell are so vivid people wonder if you’ve been there yourself.

when you pass an ambulance, and people ask you “What did you say about St. Michael?”

When you lose weight fasting, and sleep praying the rosary.

My friend called me a protestant today as a joking insult. I said something back and she said “Low blow!” and I said, as we passed another group of people “All bets are off when you call me a protestant!” The passing people looked a little offended, LoL.

I was talking with a friend and an ambulance passed behind him and I made the Sign of the Cross. He thought I was crossing myself at him for a second.

i have question actually… why catholics get baptized when they’re still babies? i mean, they don’t know anything bout the sacrament yet but then it is being done to them, to me, to us. 🙂

Christ was baptized when he was already an adult… why aren’t we and born agains are?

Kim, you should start your own thread if you want to discuss an issue different from the topic on this one, but I’ll leave you with these two things:

catholic.com/library/Infant_Baptism.asp the Catholic Answers tract on Infant Baptism.

and Catholics ARE born again, just as all who are baptized in water with the Trinitarian formula are. Protestants (some protestants) only baptize adults because they follow unBiblical and unTraditional rules and practices invented just a few years ago, verses orthodox teachings which date back to Christ.

Kim, well the Church teaches that Baptism is a Sacrament, meaning that it’s entirely a work of God so it doesn’t really matter if the person is grown up… it is how we are ‘born again’ by the Holy Spirit. Original sin (and any previous personal sin) is removed also.

God bless

You know you’re a Traditional Catholic when you have to look a Tan Books Catalog for a couple minutes to find a book you haven’t bought yet.

You know you’re a traditional Catholic when amazon.com starts displaying dozens of books about apologetics whenever you go onto the site. You know you’re a really traditional Catholic when it starts offering you copies of Saint Therese’s “Story of a Soul” printed in 1912. (Yes, this is speaking from experience!)

You know you’re a traditional Catholic when you cross yourself, pray, and cross yourself again before you eat regardless of where you are, and do the same after your meal.

(I didn’t look to see if anybody else posted similarly)
