You still say the little rhyme that was taught to you when something is missing: “SAINT ANTHONY, SAINT ANTHONY, PLEASE COME AROUND, SOMETHING IS LOST AND CAN’T BE FOUND” and then you truly do find the item that was missing!

Karen, you must be younger than I am. When I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn, in a seriously Italian house, with an even more serious Italian grandma, I came home from St Brendan’s one day all excited because I had heard a new thing from one of my friends. I told Grandma that if you lost something you could ask her favorite saint (who I thought might be a member of the family, for all the pictures and statues of him that were all over the place). She gave me that suspicious look that Italian grandmas give kids who are about to do something stupid get, and said “What did you learn that’s so important?”
I said, with a proud face, “Tony Tony, look around! Something’s lost and must be found!” Even today 50 years later, I can still feel the whack I got on my behind, and still hear grandma’s voice saying “What’s the matter with you? That’s what you learned in school today?! To disrespect St. Anthony?”
It went on for 5 minutes that felt like an hour. My grandchildren still get twinges from time to time and say, “What was that?”
I tell them, “Don’t worry, honey, it was my grandma reminding you not to disrespect St. Anthony.”
I think you younger girls had it a lot easier. I’ll bet they let you wear lipstick before you were married too!🙂

You know your a Traditional Catholice when you come late for the mass and leave right after communion.

Similar story to the first post. I had a friend, my chief nurse, a colonel, while stationed at Ft Wainwright, Alaska. She was coming home late one night from some college course that she was taking, was tired, preoccupied, etc. Anyway, coming through the gate, as usual, the guards saluted the colonel. Without thinking, instead of saluting back, she made the sign of the cross. That woke her up!

Haha I love this story:)

OH NO NO NO!!! In my parish it’s those who dress like they’re half way changed into their beach clothes who act as you described! They are also the ones who can’t seem to find the time to fill out their collection envelopes or read the parish paper other than during the Homily.
I find that you know that you’re a Traditional Catholic, in addition to my other mostly humorous posts on this thread, when you come to Mass at least a half hour early, say a Rosary, try to pray the Mass during a cacaphonous NO and maybe leave the moment Father does the modern equivalent of the “Ite Missae Est” so we don’t have to suffer through another fifth-rate ditty out of the OCP song book!!!:sad_yes:

When you visit an Anglican cathedral out of interest, and this is your interior monologue as you walk in:

"Nice window… where’s the holy water?.. those are beautiful paintings on the arches… where are the Stations?.. lovely wooden pews… hey, there’s a pool in the floor!.. remember not to genuflect… don’t genuflect… don’t genuflect… don’t genuflect…where’s the tabernacle???… wow, that ceiling goes up forever… those stained-glass windows really are exquisite… don’t make the Sign of the Cross, nobody else is doing it… why isn’t there a corpus on the cross above the altar?.. good thing they’ve got these little cushions, since there aren’t any kneelers… and jumping jehosophat, is that a woman in vestments???

Brilliant, keep up the good work. Couldn’t help but write saying how much I enjoyed reading your comment. Thank you, it’s a big thumbs up from me!

It is only the truly exceptional that can take a form of the Mass that has been around for 40 years and consider it new.

Of course relatively speaking…

I’ll start:

The other day, I went to the movies. When I got into the theater, I started walking to the other side where there were more seats. When I got to the middle, I stopped and was one second away from genuflecting to the movie screen! I luckily caught myself and laughed as I sat down.

Any experiences you guys have?
What movie? Passion of Christ perhaps?

And that makes you a traditional Catholic how? Do you really think that those who attend the OF do not have priests over for dinner?
none of what this person said had anything to do with other faiths. Actually the thread is, you know you’re a traditional catholic…slow down conan, …sheesh!

OUR PRIEST CHEWED OUT THE CONGREGATION FOR THAT…lol He said, if you show up late, then wait until everyone is seated to be seated. After you receive the eucharist, the mass isn’t over. The mass is ended when the priest says the mass is ended. He had a FIT!!! LOL

I was raised anglican & was anglican for 30 years before RCIA & confirmation. Exactly why I said I was DIET CATHOLIC…lol…just one calorie, not catholic enough, lol. Yep. Try anglican bishops and priests MARRYING EACH OTHER in anglican churches or cathedrals. Try being affiliated w. a church in a state of schism. I left. I was actually asked what was alluring about catholicism that made you decide to become a catholic? I said absolutely nothing. It was everything I saw wrong in The Church of England, and Protestantism itself. Yep. It was interesting, but I never really questioned anything up until maybe 6 years ago…did my own reading for 4 years & been catholic ever since easter of '08. Traditional catholic …I’m not sure if I’m a traditional catholic or not, but I dont like the idea of taking communion from someone NOT ordained, or at least a deacon…lol

The tradiest thing you could do is not find a UA mass and go to the “heretical” new" mass" and wait outside and go in only for communion.
