…you can remember saving all of the white NECCO wafers to use as “hosts” when you and your friends played “Mass” in your basement…all in LATIN too!!!:)🙂
They sound more appropriate than what we had. We used Vanilla wafers for our “Mass”. To this day, when I see those cookies, memories! 🙂

We didn’t know about the Latin Mass in our time though, so… vernacular. It would have been cool though!

You know your a traditionalist catholic when your ipod is only filled with artists like: Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos, Monks of Clear Creek Oh, Carmelite monks of Wyomming, Notre-Dame Cathedral

You know your traditionalist catholic when all of the music artists you listen to are praying and have Masses said for you.

You know when your traditionalist catholic when your Pandora account has nothing but Chant satations on it!

You know your a traditionalist catholic when all of your heros are priests, saints, and relgious living the monastic life.

I’ll start:

The other day, I went to the movies. When I got into the theater, I started walking to the other side where there were more seats. When I got to the middle, I stopped and was one second away from genuflecting to the movie screen! I luckily caught myself and laughed as I sat down.

Any experiences you guys have?
lol very funny … i can totally see that happening to me one day haha

Pro Domina. This was supposed to be a light hearted thread. You’ve ruined it. Congratulations, apparently there’s no room for jokes or fun in your spirituality.

You’re being offensive, assuming that we’re “musty” (whatever that means), and then going off into a rant about mixing up subdeacons and acolytes, and getting so petty as to be bothered when someone prays with their head cocked to the side.

It is altogether possible that the capital ‘T’ in tradition was a mistake - one easily made by Catholics especially, as we capitalize the word quite often when we speak about Sacred Tradition.

I say this with all brotherly concern and charity - ease up, and stay out of forums that seem to get you so very angry. They’re apparently near occasions of sin for you.

You know you’re a Traditional Catholic When:

You’re the last one praying the Prayer to St. Michael in the pew after a Novus Ordo.

Your calender has scribbles all over it that say things like “Ember Day!” or “Request off Michaelmas!”

You have to regularly explain why you’re not ordering a burger tonight, when your friend saw you eat one last night (which was Thursday)

Your Christmas decorations are up past New Years

You have holy water in your First Aid kit, along with a blessed candle and a crucifix.
hehehe i like this one too

You know you’re a traditional catholic:

when you try to make your presbyterian mother wear a veil during NO mass

when failing to encourage her to wear a veil, you threaten that you’ll attend church alone unless she wears it (she never did though, but she still comes )

when your presbyterian mother wears clothing more politely than other catholic’s because you’re so strict she could’nt leave the house for mass without your approval:D

when you go shopping for a new shelf, and instead come back with 4 new tables to add to your home altar.😛

when you can’t decide whether to hang a wooden cruficix on the wall from south korea, or a gold plated crucifix from Thailand and spend an hour in bed thinking about which wall might be best for it

when you start your prayers at your home altar each night by singing “Kyrie Eleison” then “Gloria in Excelsus Deo” then “Credo In Unun Deum” and actually know when to bow or kneel for it

when you read the Holy Scriptures with it so high up on the home altar, you’re practically asking for a neck brace.

when you send a message on your blackberry phone “what are you doing” to your friends, they reply “playing games on my iphone” and they send back to you “What u doin? On that Catholic website again?”

You know you’re a traditional Catholic when:

You fail to register at any parish.

You follow that Latin Mass as it moves from parish to parish in your diocese.

People are always mumbling something about how liberal your bishop is…

You have more than 30 books on any single topic, and that topic is overwhelmingly the Tridentine Mass.

You no longer trust just ANY priest…

Your conservative Catholic friends won’t talk to you about the faith.

While you may disagree with Sedevacantists, you have felt the pull more than once…

You tend toward those priests ordained before 1968 when the rite of ordination was changed…

Orthodoxy begins to be tempting as a way to exit the neverending controversy you seem to continually spew…

In general you have a real lack of spiritual stability.

All these above are only what I noticed about myself or my immediate family/friends.

Oh, and your peace has got to be shot.

You still beat your chest after “Lord I am not worthy to receive you…”

… you kneel during the consecration at a NO Mass, especially if there are no kneelers.

… going to an NO Mass is a near occasion of sin. “She’s wearing that to Mass?”

You know you’re a Traditionalist when, you get embarressed, ashamed, or have to make excuses for when non Catholics talk about the Catholic Church
or

when someone wants to know what Catholic parish or Chapel to go to where everything is “O.K.”, and you can’t recommend any except one where the Traditional Mass is said.

You view the charismatic Catholic movement as being a bunch of disorderly Protestants.

When your scapular slips out from under your shirt or alternatively gets all tangled up with the chain you are also wearing around your neck with a crucifix and a miraculous medal on it.

And that big red rash from the scapular, you call penance.

You discover the major Vatican II documents were crafted by theologians previously censured by Pius XII’s Holy Office…

And when you realize those “formerly-suspected” priests had a major aversion to the Church’s own theology (Scholasticism), but they instead loved the theology twice-condemned by Ven. Pius XII (the nouvelle theologie).

Your post made me laugh out loud!

Along this same line…

I have a bald spot on my chest in the exact shape of the cross I wear.
Years of wearing the cross in the same spot finally wore down the hair and left a perfectly bare cross shaped area right in the middle of my chest.

I am uncertain if that would qualify me as a traditional catholic, but I am sure it means I wear that medal a lot.
