YOU MUST KNOW THIS MAN
MUHAMMAD
(May peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him)
You may be an atheist or an agnostic; or you may belong to anyone of the religious denominations that exist in the world today. You may be a Communist or a believer in democracy and freedom. No matter what you are, and no matter what your religious and political beliefs, personal and social habits happen to be - YOU MUST STILL KNOW THIS MAN!

He was by far the most remarkable man that ever set foot on this earth. He preached a religion, founded a state, built a nation, laid down a moral code, initiated numberless social and political reforms, established a dynamic and powerful society to practice and represent his teachings, and completely revolutionized the worlds of human thought and action for all times to come.

HIS NAME IS MUHAMMAD, peace and blessings of Almighty God be upon him and he accomplished all these wonders in the unbelievably short span of twenty-three years.

Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him was born in Arabia on the 20th of August, in the year 570 of the Christian era, and when he died after 63 years, the whole of the Arabian Peninsula had changed from paganism and idol-worship to the worship of One God; from tribal quarrels and wars to national solidarity and cohesion; from drunkenness and debauchery to sobriety and piety; from lawlessness and anarchy to disciplined living; from utter moral bankruptcy to the highest standards of moral excellence. Human history has never known such a complete transformation of a people or a place before or since!

The Encyclopedia Britannica calls him “the most successful of all religious personalities of the world”. Bernard Shaw said about him that if Muhammad were alive today he would succeed in solving all those problems which threaten to destroy human civilization in our times. Thomas Carlysle was simply amazed as to how one man, single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades. Napoleon and Gandhi never tired of dreaming of a society along the lines established by this man in Arabia fourteen centuries ago.

Indeed no other human being ever accomplished so much, in such diverse fields of human thought and behavior, in so limited a space of time, as did Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him. He was a religious teacher, a social reformer, a moral guide, a political thinker, a military genius, an administrative colossus, a faithful friend, a wonderful companion, a devoted husband, a loving father - all in one. No other man in history ever excelled or equaled him in any of these difficult departments of life.

The world has had its share of great personalities. But these were one sided figures who distinguished themselves in but one or two fields such as religious thought or military leadership. None of the other great leaders of the world ever combined in himself so many different qualities to such an amazing level of perfection as did Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him.

The lives and teachings of other great personalities of the world are shrouded in the mist of time. There is so much speculation about the time and the place of their birth, the mode and style of their life, the nature and detail of their teachings and the degree and measure of their success or failure that it is impossible for humanity today to reconstruct accurately and precisely the lives and teachings of those men…
At the level of ideas there is no system of thought and belief-secular or religious, social or political-which could surpass or equal ISLAAM- the system which Muhammad peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him propounded. In a fast changing world, while other systems have undergone profound transformations, Islaam alone has remained above all change and mutation, and retained its original form for the past 1400 years. What is more, the positive changes that are taking place in the world of human thought and behavior, truly and consistently reflect the healthy influence of Islam in these areas. Further, it is not given to the best of thinkers to put their ideas completely into practice, and to see the seeds of their labors grow and bear fruit, in their own lifetime. Except of course, Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him, who not only preached the most wonderful ideas but also successfully translated each one of them into practice in his own lifetime. At the time of his death his teachings were not mere precepts and ideas straining for fulfillment, but had become the very core of the life of tens of thousands of perfectly trained individuals, each one of whom was a marvelous personification of everything that Muhammad peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him taught and stood for. At what other time or place and in relation to what other political,

ah, yes, Muhammed, a man unparralled in his legacy, a great religious leader, proud and charismatic insisting that his revalation be recognized as the only legitimate one.

I know of another man, meek and humble, who served people, who suffered and died under false pretense. He founded no nation but his followers now cover the world. He was not a social or political reformer but his words accomplished just that. He changed mens hearts not just their minds.

Perhaps you are right no other man did as much as Muhammed, but then again, not everyone born of a woman has been man. One of them was much more. His name was Jesus Christ and where Muhammed brought a sword, Christ bore the Cross, where Muhammed condemned peoples sins, Christ forgave them. Where Muhammed was a man, Christ IS God incarnate.

Perhaps it would do us some good to know Muhammed, but it would do us irreprabale harm not to know Christ.

Wow.

That was most eloquently said.

He did to spread Islam with the use of the sword.

Also, Muhammad was of a pagan descent. And later on he claims to be a true follower of God? His recitations proves that it’s mixed with paganism, Judaism and perversion of Christian doctrines.

Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained like that till his death. Among all his people, he was known as being truthful and trustworthy. Before receiving revelation, he had no prior knowledge of Religion or any previously sent Message. He remained like that for his first forty years. Revelation then came to Muhammad with the Koran that we now have between our hands. This Koran mentioned most of the accounts found in the previous scriptures, telling us about these events in the greatest detail as if he witnessed them. These accounts came precisely as they were found in the Torah sent down to Moses and in the Gospel sent down to Jesus. Neither the Jews or Christians were able to belie him regarding anything that he said.
. Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) also foretold of everything that would occur to him and his community after him, pertaining to victory, the removal of the tyrannical kingdoms of Chosroes [the royal title for the Zoroastrian kings of Persia] and Caesar, and the establishment of the religion of Islam throughout the earth. These events occurred exactly as Muhammad foretold, as if he was reading the future from an open book.
Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) also brought an Arabic Koran that is the peak of eloquence and clarity. The Koran challenged those eloquent and fluent Arabs of his time, who initially belied him, to bring forth a single chapter like the Koran. The eloquent Arabs of his day were unable to contest this Koran.
Indeed, till our day, none has ever dared to claim that he has been able to compose words that equal-or even approach-the order, grace, beauty, and splendor of this Glorious Koran.
. The life history of this Noble Prophet was a perfect example of being upright, merciful, compassionate, truthful, brave, generous, distant from all evil character, and ascetic in all worldly matters, while striving solely for the reward of the Hereafter. Moreover, in all his actions and dealings, he was ever mindful and fearful of Allah.

and yet, by his life he never accomplished what Christ did in the moment of his death, to save us from the fires of hell.

Do not give the praise due to God to a mere mortal, even if he is a prophet, rather give it to God himself. Did Muhammed die and rise again for the forgiveness of sins? No, only Christ did that because only Christ could do that. Only God can forgive sins and only God can teach us the truth. Not a prophet inspired to write a book which was dictated to him by an angel, but the true Word of God made flesh which walked amoung us, Jesus Christ.

Hady,

Are you saying that just because Muhammad was illiterate that the has no ears to hear?

If he can’t read the Bible nor the Torah, certainly he would have learned of them thru conversations with people.

Don’t tell me he just sits down in the confines of his home and did business there, as he is purportedly claimed to be a successful businessman.
These accounts came precisely as they were found in the Torah sent down to Moses and in the Gospel sent down to Jesus. Neither the Jews or Christians were able to belie him regarding anything that he said.
Who told you that Christians would not say anything contrary to his “accounts” of the Gospels, much less the Torah? In the first place, Muhammad was not a Catholic, so there is no use of holding a council against that particular strange teaching. He can’t teach authentic Catholic doctrines because he is not even a Christian.

“He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad) has indeed obeyed Allâh, but he who turns away, then we have not sent you (Muhammad) as a watcher over them.” (Qurân 4: 80)
Allah (I) sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth to make it prevail over all religions. He (I) says:
“It is He (Allah) Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth that he may proclaim it over all religion even though the Pagans may detest (it).” (Qurân 61: 9)
Prophet Muhammad (r) being the True Messenger of Allâh (I) not only sincerely believes and testifies to the Oneness of Allâh, the Only True God, Who Alone deserves all praises and true worship, but also teaches the same universal message. In one of his teachings we learn how he teaches us to glorify and testify Allâh (I) as True:
“Ibn ‘Abbas (t) narrated that when the Prophet (r) got up at night to offer the Tahajjud (midnight) prayer, he used to say: “O Allâh! All the praises are for you. You are the Holder of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is in them. All the praises are for You. You have the possession of the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them. All the praises are for You. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all the praises are for You. You are the King of the heavens and the earth and all the praises are for You. You are the Truth and Your Promise is the truth, and to meet You is true. Your Word is the truth and Paradise is true, Hell is true, all the Prophets are true, Muhammad is true, and the Day of Resurrection is true. O Allâh! I surrender (my will) to You. I believe in You and depend on You, repent to You, and with Your help I argue (with my opponents, the non-believers). And I take You as a Judge (to judge between us). Please forgive me my previous and future sins; and whatever I concealed or revealed. And You are the One Who makes (some people) forward and (some) backward. There is none to be worshipped but You.” (Bukhari 2/221, 9/482 and 534 If you are among those who have read some of the countless distortions written against Islâm and the Prophet (r), time has come that you believe in him as the true Messenger of Allâh (I) to all humanity. Verily, Muhammad (r) is the true universal Messenger and the final Prophet of Allâh. In fact, he is known as the As-Sadiq and Al-’Amin (the Truthful and the Trustworthy). Many non-Muslims who knew and listened to him during his time, embraced Islâm because of his truthfulness. Indeed, Muhammad (r) is true and he teaches nothing but the Truth. Above all, he teaches us the worship of the One True God, which is the very essence of the true religion, Islâm. For your salvation, believe in Prophet Muhammad (r) as the true, final Messenger of Allâh (I) and believe in the Message with which he was sent. Believe in Islâm as the true religion from Allâh (I). Take admonition from the following authentic Hâdîth
“Abu Hurairah narrated that Allâh’s Messenger (r) said, “By Him in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, he amongst the community of Jews or Christians hears about me; but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent (i.e., Islâm) and dies in his state (of disbelief), he shall be but one of the denizens of Hell-Fire.” (Muslim 1/ 284
Today after the lapse of some 1400 years the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him, have survived without the slightest loss, alteration or interpolation. Today they offer the same undying hope for treating mankind’s many ills which they did when Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him, was alive. This is our honest claim and this is the inescapable conclusion forced upon us by a critical and unbiased study of history.
The least YOU should do as a thinking, sensitive, concerned human being is to stop for one brief moment and ask yourself: Could it be that these statements, extraordinary and revolutionary as they sound, are really true? Supposing they really are true, and you did not know this man Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him or hear about his teachings? Or did not know him well and intimately enough to be able to benefit from his guidance and example? Isn’t it time you responded to this tremendous challenge and made some effort to know him? It will not cost you anything but it may well prove to be the beginning of a completely new era in your li
Come, let us make a new discovery of the life of this wonderful man Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him the like of whom never walked on this earth, and whose example and teachings can change YOUR LIFE and OUR WORLD for the better. God has two equally important attributes, mercy which spread across the earth, and justice. These two attributes met on the cross of calvary. None of us can stand before the Lord God. All of us are guilty of offence or ommission and deserving of punishment. For God to remain a just God, this debt must be satisfied. How then can a just God be merciful? He pays the price of our transgressions HIMSELF. Christ is God because only God can fill the infinite gulf between God and Man, between Heaven and Earth, between justice and sin.

Further God became man so that He could suffer. Therefore when we suffer, we know that God understands, not because his suffering is like ours (if you chose to accept that God suffers by the sins of his children, when they go astray) but that ours may be like his.

Finally, no one forced Christ to die, He CHOSE to. He willingly layed down his life for our sakes, and He took it back up again. The empty tomb is one of the greatest stumbling blocks for most people, because even if they can accept what Christ said, they do not understand what He did.

Hi ‘But for Grace’,

Ofcourse we all have our own way of how we choose to believe in God, but dont you think thats a bit of a complicated way to believe in God?

One of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him and all the prophets) is that every child is born a Muslim, free of sin, knowing God exists and that He is the Lord of all things and not part of the creation, but then its the parents of the child that make him a jew or a christian or a fire-worshipper. And this really is true because simply no child would ever come to know the christian ideology on their own (ie. that God became a human and he came on earth and he died for my sins and that the true way to believe in God is through the concept of the trinity, etc), it really is a bit complex. Even adult christians who ive talked to who go to church, as i ask questions regarding their belief system, even they get confused themselves or make contradictions, while some just resort to explaining how they believe in God through emotional feelings and ‘divine’ experiences.

Ever since i was a child i knew (and distictly remember i knew) God existed and was above His creation and was One and that there was no other diety that shared his attributes. I came to Canada at the age of 7 and was exposed to christianity all of my years as an adolescent and actually knew more about christianity than i did about Islam (all i knew about Islam then was that God existed and that Muhammed was the Prophet and that the Quran was the book of Muslims). But its because of this complex way of believing in God that totally made me never accept the beliefs of christianity. It wasnt until i was almost 18 that i began learning Islam more and in how Islam called to belief in God and then began to embrace it fully in my heart and in my practice.

Islam is the only religion that totally denounces any type of worship to other than the One True God, and makes Him alone in Lordship, and the only religion where i can turn to God alone in my supplications and calling for help and in seeking forgiveness, without anyone having to ‘interceed’ for me with God, and the only religion that recognizes ALL the Prophets and Messengers as true Prophets and Messengers.

In terms of how to understand and believe in God and the other tenants of faith, i dont think there is a simpler and more logical ideology than that of Islam’s. There will ofcourse be muslims you will portray islam in a bad light, but judging a religion by its people isnt the best way to understand what the religion is really about anyways. You know the truthfulness of a religion by its belief system, and this is why i am a Muslim.

Please do take my post as simply dialogue and forgive me if i have said anything to upset you or put down your faith.

May God guide you and us.
Hashi

Hashi Al-Eritre - thank you, dialogue is the very purpose of these boards, and personally I prefer honesty even if it lacks tact.

Remember you cannot clump Catholics together with most other Christians. The Catholic faith is much the same as it was two thousand years ago. These other Christian groups splintered off of the Catholic Church and then off of each other. They differ in many of the things they teach percisely because they are each allowed their own oppinions. Many of these groups even teach things that the Catholic Church has taught to be wrong for nearly sixteen or seventeen hundred years.

Further, simplicity of belief does not necessarily imply correctness of belief. By way of example, Atheism is simpler than any religion, but it is not right. The reason things seem to get complicated when you describe religion is that you are attempting to explain the transcendant using the finite. If the finite suffices, than it is not God being described.

Hashi Al-Eritre:

It is true islam is extremely simple and logical.

Can I ask you a question?

If this life is a test for us, and God is omniscient.

Why does God bother testing us? He can pass judgement immediately since He already knows what we will do in our lives.
Infact He determines what we will do in divine predestiny.

So my rejection of Islam (the faith of my childhood) is because of Allah, my acceptance of Catholocism is once again because of Allah.

Simple and logical isn’t it?

But if you want to really answer these questions, to my knowledge only Catholocism is the Truth.
