Lots of writings/qoutes from Fathers/saints say Rome is the “Chair of Peter” though…All bishops are Peter
Who says “no errors can come from Rome” and in what context?Lots of writings/qoutes from Fathers/saints say Rome is the “Chair of Peter” though…
others also say 'no errors can come from Rome"
and that Peter and his sucessors are the rock of the church which the gates of hell wont overcome
…i guess now you will talk against ‘quotes’ and say they are useless or not worth reading…
lets call them the writings of the saints then…
you guys say they are not infallible, but is what all you EO guys say infallible also?
when u say Rome is not orthodox or in error ,is that infallible? should we take more notice when the saints say Rome is the rock and cannot err in faith,or should we believe you guys?
thanks
I am familiar with “the list” that many Latin apologists like to throw out (though I wonder how many have actually read the sources, rather than just quotes). I think it would be wise, however, to first determine the dates and languages of the manuscripts many of these quotes are found on. While many of the quotes presented are accurate (and have been misinterpreted by Rome’s apologists), a good number are forgeries at best. Take the famous ultramontanist writings attributed to St. Maximos the Confessor. Of every writing attributed to his personage, both Greek and Latin versions are known to exist. The ultramontanist ones, however, are an exception, because the oldest copy is a 12th century Latin (Frankish) text (without a comparable Greek one). This, as well as the debacle of the False Decretals, should make one seriously investigate the authenticity of several of these quotations.Sacrifice half and hour of your time and maybe read through these quotes
