I agree with this, too. For those who do believe God created to look old, how do you explain fossils etc?

A deceptive Creator doesn’t seem to align with the Biblical Creator.

No. I don’t think God would have created fossil remains of plants and animals that never really existed,
I don’t think we’re saying they never existed. But you have to see it another way. What possible explanation can there be for soft bodied animals being fossilised. They would have rotted away long before that was possible.
Answer…a catastrophic global flood with immediate and final side effects

If you’re talking about the soft tissue Dr. Mary Schwitzer discovered, many scientists say that iron from the blood preserved the tissue.

I think he might’ve meant it seems deceptive to have all these fossils, diamonds etc. which are tested as very old if the earth was young.

Could anyone else attempt to sort it out? I’d really really like to understand.

If something is really bothering you, ask yourself why.

Do you have to believe that, is it their dogma or doctrine. Who decided there in the Lutherans, that was to be the age of the earth, no questions asked. And why and how did they decide it.

The Catholic Church alllows us to be free to believe what we want about the age of the earth.

Thanks. That’s pretty much what a pastor at a ND church told me. And I still do love God with all my heart.

It’s the doctrine or maybe dogma of the LCMS. I think they recently had a conference about several topics and decided to not change this teaching, among other things.

There is a problem with the concept ’ God created to look old’

That indicates corruption and dishonesty on God’s part.

Do you really believe God would do that?

If the answer is yes, and this argument is not rejected as implausible against the Will and actions of our Creator, then there is a problem with believing in a good and just and merciful God.

As an aside God created everyone and every plant and animal and the universe with its stars and planets. Regardless of if they become Litheran or Catholic or Atheist.

on the fossil dating, we have some very good techniques and methods. Saying fossil dating techniques are wrong would then be to reject the dating of all the artefacts we find in the Holy Land that demonstrate Biblical figures actually lived and scripture existed.

They told me that I was welcome there despite not believing in YEC but I wouldn’t be allowed to teach anything there, which is a moot point because I have no desire to teach.
Nevertheless, telling me I can’t just emphasizes how different my belief is from theirs.

God did not create Adam to ‘look old’ ’ to decieve’ on age. God simply created a fully grown man. God breathed His very own breath into Adam. We breathe because God breathed into us through Adam.

This is the first time I have ever heard that one 🙂

Put me down for about 4.5 billion years. Whatever current geology / astronomy says.

Yeah, that makes the most sense. I was talking with my former priest about this and he said he’d be skeptical of the way this church interprets Scripture.
