Melissa, just wanted to tell you I made your Bean Quintet and it was a big hit. Very good. Everyone loved it.šŸ‘

Crockpot Pizza

1 package (12 oz) wide egg noodles
1 1/2 lbs ground beef or turkey
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 jar (28 oz) spaghetti sauce
1 jar (4 1/2 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 1/2 tsp italian seasoning
1 package (3 1/2 oz) sliced pepperoni, halved
3 cups shredded mozzerella
3 cups shredded cheddar

cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in large skillet, brown beef w/onion; drain. Stir in spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, and seasoning. Drain noodles. Coat crockpot w/non-stick cooking spray. Spread 1/3 of meat sauce, top w/ 1/3 of noodles and pepperoni, sprinkle w/ 1/3 of cheeses. Repeat layers twice. Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours.

Try not to leave it on past recommended time, or the noodles get crunchy around the edges. The great thing about this recipe is that it pleases everyone, and you can alter it to fit your tastes, like substitute green peppers for mushrooms, or add some sausage, etc.

That is amazing! I’ve never heard of such a thing! I’ll have to think about trying that! 😃

Thanks!!

Another variation on the beef roast recipes:

This one is one of DH’s faves…

mix together one can of cream of mushroom soup (I use Campbells) and

one packet of beefy onion soup mix (I use Lipton)

smear on top of roast in crock pot and let cook all day

about an hour before serving, mix in one cup of sour cream to the gravy in the crock pot

all you have to do to complete this meal is to whip up some mashed potatoes and heat up a green veggie, or make it really easy and do a bagged salad

Definitely not low fat or low salt, but delicious, and eaten occasionally, a real treat and not a threat to anyone’s health 😃

No problem. I love the crockpot, and I **love **cookbooks. I got that one from my ā€œTaste of Homeā€ magazine. My parents renew my subscription as a present every year. I get a lot of really amazing recipes from it.

I’m lovin’ looking at all of these great recipes. I’m just going to make a footnote here, and say that I recommend getting those plastic liners for the crockpot. It makes clean up sooooo much easier. I used to have to soak my crock pot for hours to get all of the cooked on stuff out of there, but the liners take that chore away.
What a good idea! Where do you get the liners from? Do they come in different sizes/shapes?

I just bought a new crockpot that’s oval shaped (better to fit longer cuts of meat) plus it has a timer on it. That’s good for me because sometimes I lose track of time and forget to turn off the pot. I have managed a few times to overcook things. That’s pretty hard to do in a crockpot! :o

Maybe you could store the box of liners in your crock pot (when it’s not in use of course :rotfl: ). šŸ‘
Don’t laugh. That is where my crock pot cookbook is.
I was laughing at my comment about storing it there when it’s not in use. I said that even though it was obvious to only store it when the crock pot is empty, so that’s why I added the laughing smilie. :yup:

I actually think it’s a really good idea, if I do say so myself. šŸ˜‰

Crock pot Rotisserie Chicken

1 Whole Chicken, 4-6 lbs.
Olive Oil Cooking Spray (Pam or plain olive oil will work, too)
Lawry’s Seasoned Salt (no substitutes)
Aluminum foil

Spray inside of crock with cooking spray.

Make several (5-6) strips of aluminum foil, approx. 2ā€ wide. Wad up aluminum foil into balls and put them in the bottom of the crock pot. (The chicken is going to sit on these.)

Clean chicken inside and out. Spray with olive oil spray.

Sprinkle inside and out with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt.

Put chicken breast side up in crock pot on top of aluminum balls.

Cook on High (will not come out the same on low), 4-6 hours.

Note: Do not put any water in the crock pot.

I will third the liners…they are great! My favorite use for them is tailgate and parties where you have to bring a dish… anyone else here hate putting a dirty pot in your car? The liners make clean up so easy!!! And, of there is just a little bit left, you can use the bag to store it in the fridge instead of dirtying another bowl or at a party, if you want to give the leftovers to a friend… works great, just tie the bag up and you go home with the pot and your friend gets the food…

My Mom’s Pot Roast

Roast
can of potatoes
can of carrots
bottle of chili sauce

Put it in and forget about it. That’s all.

She also has her ā€œchili.ā€ We call it bean soup.
tomato sauce
whatever beans you want
teaspoon worchester sauce
teaspoon chili poweder

Not really a recipe - but one great use for your crock pot… when you are serving tortilla chips, keep them in the crock pot on low. The chips will be warm, just the way they are at your favorite restaurant!

I usually find them in the section of the store that has the renolds wrap, plastic wrap, sandwich bags, etc. At walmart, they generally cost about $1.50 for 3 in a box. I think that it’s worth the 50 cents for easier cleanup.

This thread is making me hungry!

That is such a great tip! DH loves his tortilla chips warm! 😃

French dip…

Rump roast
1 can of beef broth
1 can of french onion soup
1 bottle of beer
splash of worstechire

I noticed a couple people have sent allrecipe recipes, this is one also, I LOVE allrecipe.com., there is also a great clam chowder recipe for the crock put, quick and easy clam chowder, I have not found a restaurant that has a better clam chowder, look it up!!!

That’s it, I’m gonna go get my crock pot out and cook something in it! I get so hungry every time I see this thread.

Me too! The only problem is that the crock pot really heats up the kitchen a lot, which is nice in the winter. We’ve been having temps in the 90’s and 100’s lately, and I’m grilling most of my food now.

Man, this thread makes me hungry, lol! I love reading other people’s recipe b/c it inspires me to go cook…anyways, here’s another recipe I thought I would add:

Chicken Cacciatore (sp??) (sorry, i’m not italian 😊 )

4 Chicken thighs-seasoned any way you want too (you could actually use any cut of chicken you like and even boneless, skinless breast, but I think thighs are the best cut of the chicken)

1 green bell pepper-rough chop
1 large yellow onion-rough chop
2 cloves of garlic (or more to taste šŸ˜‰ )
1 large can of your favorite spaghetti sauce (I think it’s 28 ounces? 🤷 )
A few splashes of white wine (or chicken stock if no wine available)

Add pepper, onion and cloves to bottom of crock pot (remember to use that lining!) in that order. Add chicken thighs, seasoned anyway you want to, then top with can of spaghetti sauce. If using a leaner cut of chicken, like boneless and skinless or bone-in breast, you’ll want to add a little more liquid to the bottom. Let this simmer on low 6-8 hours. Serve over any type of pasta.

Variations: add mushrooms (more traditional in cacciatore) or different kinds of peppers (italian sweet or hot peppers are good). Also, it technically would be better to brown the chicken before putting it in, but the whole point of crock-potting is to keep it simple, right? I don’t bother and I never miss it. If you don’t brown the chicken, the skin will be moist and soggy, so I remove it actually, I don’t eat it.

Random tip: you know how using ground beef for the crock pot should be browned first?? Well, brown the ground beef when you get it home from the store, drain, and freeze it. That way, you have already browned beef ready to go at your whim! I hate having to brown meat before I put it in the crock pot…defeats the whole purpose, IMHO! šŸ‘

It has been in the 100’s here for so long, I feel as if we have moved to the sun šŸ™‚

We are charcoal snobs, so, grilling every night is not an option. Charcoal is work!

Our crock pot seems to put out less heat than the stove, but, I’d bet that varies from model to model. I like that we can turn it on before we leave, and supper is ready when we get home.
