Hello Catholic Family!

I’m not a naturally optimistic person. Had to learn it. I’ve done pretty well with that the past few years, but recently I’ve been dealing with problems that seem to have no good solutions.

Guessing you’ve felt that way a time or two. If so, what are your favorite scriptures to lean on?

Thanks!

…be it done unto me according to Thy word…

…Thy will be done…

…if any man will follow me, let him take up his cross and deny himself…

I almost forgot:

…let us sing to the Lord, for He is gloriously magnified… (I like to sing 🙂 )

John 16:33

Oh, OK

“In this world, you will have tribulation. But, take heart, I have overcome this world.”

"What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor any other creature in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”

“I urge you therefore brothers, by the mercy of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good, pleasing, and perfect.”

“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day”

🙂

Mat 28:20 …And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Brings me great peace.

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is just,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.”

and Psalm 139

Wonderful answers and I thank you!

Something else: I know we’ve all probably heard it said that God will never “give us more than we can handle.”

Does anyone know the source of this observation?

Oh, one more thing, a priest I know just sent me this. Comforting!

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:4-8

Still wondering about the source of the previous observation.

Thanks!

The one in my signature:

“For I know the plans I have for you - plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11
That’s my favourite too. I have also recently added Ps 127:1 “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”

This is especially helpful when I am trying to hold on to something I should let go of.

It is perhaps a paraphrase of Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”
