Ecumenism is alive and well at the grass roots level! We are Sister Churches and both your communities prove that. Thanks for sharing that wonderful story. It’s stories like this that should give us all hope!

ZP
I forgot to mention! Recently a few of their parishioners covered a few holy hours of adoration when we had gaps in the schedule. We were just going to close the Adoration Chapel but Holy Virgin managed to find watchers for us!!!

Yeah, let that sink in for a minute…

Russian Orthodox…

… came to Roman Catholic adoration.

Don’t every say never!

Or clean them 😁. It must take an army to dust those huge spaces and keep them clean. You’d need fearless cleaners too, to reach the high places.

Saint Columba’s Cathedral in Oban , Scotland , which I have visited on holidays .

Skylifts are great when dusting chandeliers and everything high up were normal ladders are to short. Hopefully there is a parish member who can bring one when needed. And several strong persons who can move the pews around. 😄

I don’t volunteer to do these kind of jobs. I can stand up straight on my kitchen counter without touching the ceiling with my head.

I did the electrical work on this Episcopal church in Beverly Hills about 20 years ago. We set up a rolling scaffold that fit between the pews to reach those high chandeliers, up 40 feet or so hanging from the rafters. We used a 30 foot extension ladder to reach those high fixtures attached to the walls beneath the stained glass windows. I was never especially happy working up that high, and the scaffold and ladder always felt too shaky and unstable.

St Columba in Santee, California. Not the most elaborate church like many in this thread. But it’s home to a small devoted congregation who’ve made the most they can of a seemingly ordinary office space turning it into a wonderful looking place to worship and celebrate a Eucharist. I find something quite beautiful in that.

Thanks for sharing. You know, some of the architecturally beautiful church’s I’ve seen are also just historic shells.

I hesitated to post this one, but as it is an objectively lovely and historic building and was my Grandmother’s parish for most of her life it felt proper. This is Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence, MA. Unfortunately the Archdiocese of Boston had to sell it off to help pay legal settlements. It was saved from the wrecking ball by a Sedevacantist traditional Catholic sect.

Prior Park Catholic College in Bath , Somerset is another place I have visited on holiday .

Not my personal favorite, but it was a favorite of my mom 4 decades ago and where they baptized me. St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Andover, MA.

Previous parish (before I moved away): Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Syracuse, NY

Another church many I’ve known consider their favorite as it was the church I grew up going to and received Reconciliation and Eucharist at first. Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga, CA. It’s actually designed to look like a heart from the air.

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph in San Jose. Also where I was confirmed. It’s a lovely building designed in the more Italian style.

This one is one of my favorites personally. And the church I regularly attended during my college days, Mission Santa Clara de Asis.

The church, while not the original (this is the 7th church that was built in the 1920’s to replace the previous one which burned down) has a beautiful high altar.

Ten miles down the road from me is Stonyhurst College which was founded by the Jesuits .
