Your impressions of the Jesuits

Making generalizations about Jesuits is as useful as making generalizations about Anglicans. Few apply.

Suffice it to say that there is the same civil war going on in the Jesuit order as there is in the larger catholic church. On the one side are those who believe in Sacred Tradition and Scripture as expressed in the Creed and expounded in the catechism. On the other are those who believe they’ve developed a “new and improved catholicism for the 21st century” that discards all that pesky stuff about sin, repentance, Grace and salvation in favor of “finding your inner self” and achieving peace in the world through working for justice. Those latter are nice states of affairs, but can’t happen without properly addressing the former issues.

And I can’t believe nobody has yet cited the greatest modern jesuit, the late Father John Hardon.

Any who wish to see how we got where we are might get a copy of the book, The Jesuits by Malichi Martain. They came into the world to save the Church after the Reformation and now some believe they focus more on the world than the Church -but not all. The other major orders also faltered demanding independence from Rome - including (sob) the Franciscans, which still have many that hold to the faith. When all this rebellion against Rome was taking place after Vatican II, Pope Paul VI made his famous statement that the smoke of Satan had entered the taberacle.

Certainly men like Father Hardon have not been swept away with the secularist urges.

They need prayers badly -those who have lost their faith and those who struggle in the face of the modernist Revolution (as Anne raoch Muggeridge calls it) to keep their faith.

An order that has traditionally been wonderful. However, modern Jesuits are often essentially heretics. The Jesuits, once attracting intensely spiritual Catholics wishing to live out the mission of St. Ignatius of Loyola, now seems to attract liberals.

If you want a good look at the tragedy of the modern Jesuit order, just look at their “Catholic” universities.
