Your LEAST favorite movies... time for a little levity I think

And… for you OLD movie fans… TROG! starring Joan Crawford Trog should have just never happened.
Trog was released to movie theaters when I was in elementary school and I had no chance in Hades of seeing it, so I asked a school chum who claimed to have seen it what it was about. He hemmed and hawed, so I asked, ‘Well, what does the title mean?’ He told me it was in a scene where the missing link came running up to Joan, tore off her ear, then held up the bloody appendage and screamed ‘TROG!’ Of course this was like the Holy Grail to my horror-film-starved eight-year-old brain, and many was the night I dropped off to sleep trying to imagine what the rest of the film could possibly be like to top such a spectacular scene. Decades went by before I finally saw it on video and realised my friend had been ribbing me.

ALL Saw movies…

Really?

They actually killed almost everyone in the one where all the traps are based on those monkey emojis. And the few people that survive those movies usually help kill other people in the sequels or something.

You guys are killing me…some of you have mentioned some of my favorites.

But I will add…all of the Austin Powers movies. Just no.

Just thought of another one: The Silence by Ingmar Bergman. Normally I am a rabid Bergman fan, but this one was so devoid of redeeming qualities, and so resembled an early Swedish attempt at softcore pornography that it was offensive, not only to my sensibilities, but also to my knowledge of the magnificence of which Bergman was capable. Just seemed like a self-pleasuring fantasy more than anything else. No, thank you.

Did you actually watch it? I thought it was going to be SO STUPID. But when I watched it with my kids when it came out on Netflix, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, I thought it was pretty funny.

Am I doomed? 🤔

The star wars prequels…ugh, just no!

THe hobbit movies…again…no…too long and bloated and very obvious over use of cgi. I’m a huge Tolkien fan and loved the lotr trilogy but these were long and boring!

I’m sure I can think of more…I used to work in a movie theater when I was in high school many many eons ago 😉

I’m also a major Tolkien enthusiast, and I could barely finish the first of the Hobbit films. Absolutely dreadful.

Yes, just like I’m doomed for adoring the Austin Powers films! 😂

I admit I loved the first one ! The others were a tad overrated IMO…like they saw the money and just squeezed all they could from the franchise.

I’m a HUGE nerd so I LOVE LotR and Star Wars…the prequels and The Hobbit were abominations. I don’t consider them at all canon.

/snobbery 😉

Another waste of celluloid is Forbidden Zone, starring Susan Tyrell and Herve Villechaize (the guy who yells ‘Da plehn! Da plehn!’ at the start of every episode of Fantasy Island). Self-consciously bizarre gibberish, horribly filmed and atrociously acted. Doesn’t even make it to ‘so-bad-it’s-good’ territory. Don’t bother.

You people need to stop hating on LOTR and The Hobbit films and Star Wars. Now seriously, y’all. 😡

Except for Jar Jar. Please hate Jar Jar all you want.

Billy Jack
Saw it when I was a kid and loved it. Dad despised it.
Fast forward thirty something years and I do not believe I have ever seen such terrible acting, writing, and directing in one movie!

At the risk of incurring intense hatred, the dullest movie I ever sat through in a theater was 2001 A Space Odyssey. I tried to watch it again, just a year or two ago. No good. I just don’t have the patience for that kind of thing. And yet there are other Kubrick pictures I like a lot, particularly Barry Lyndon and A Clockwork Orange.

Ever see any of the many sequels? They get progressively worse and more incoherent. The whole set was released in a DVD boxed set several years ago, which I promptly snapped up and wasted several hours of my life viewing. I think I’ve still got it somewhere.
