Your LEAST favorite movies... time for a little levity I think

At the risk of incurring intense hatred, the dullest movie I ever sat through in a theater was 2001 A Space Odyssey. I tried to watch it again, just a year or two ago. No good. I just don’t have the patience for that kind of thing. And yet there are other Kubrick pictures I like a lot, particularly Barry Lyndon and A Clockwork Orange.
Tarkovsky’s Solaris is reputed to be the Soviet answer to 2001, and believe me, it makes the Kubrick film look like Bugs Bunny on speed. I have never seen such a slow, dull, painfully serious film in my life. Avoid at all costs!

I think I’ve read that before! If I admit that a couple of years ago I read a bunch of fan theories about Jar Jar and the Sith on Reddit, will I get booted out of CAF?? Lol

I’m such a nerd. 🤓

I did actually watch it. And felt terribly doomed when I did. 🙃

I would hope neither of us is truly doomed though 🙂

Thanks for the warning. That’s a movie I only ever heard of, never watched …

I thought The Last Jedi was a little better than The Force Awakens though.

Yeah, don’t waste your time. The only other Tarkovsky film I’ve seen is The Sacrifice, and it was such a self-conscious imitation of the worst of Woody Allen’s ‘serious’ work that I couldn’t take it seriously.

And talking bad about The Princess Bride or The Sound of Music is anathema. 😡😡

I think the worst movie I ever suffered through was Master of Disguise. My husband loved that movie. I think he loved it more because I despised it.

I don’t watch any Star Wars movies. I haven’t even gotten through one. Just not my bag.

We had to watch Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet in high school, it has Leonardo diCaprio as Romeo and it sets the story in a huge 1990s American city, replaces the feud between the families with a mafia war, and replaces the swords and daggers with guns, but keeps Shakespeare’s original dialogue. I thought it was lame and over the top, and I don’t know much about acting but I know what I like, and this wasn’t it. The Prologue (“Two households, both alike in dignity…”) is given as a local news cast.

The Bell Jar released in 1979 based on poet Sylvia Plath’s book The Bell Jar (a good book) and her suicide.

BAD BAD movie! The people in the theater booed at the end and many walked out early.

I keep thinking of more movies I hate. 😆

I agree with Dumb and Dumber, and want to add Ace Ventura.

I also HATE The Water Boy with a passion. His accent is like nails on a chalkboard. Happy Gilmore is a close second.

Jar-Jar… boooo! hisssss! Right down there with “midichlorians”… ugh! “Psst! Hey buddy. Wanna buy some midichlorians? Make you an instant Jedi they will. Only 2,000 credits a vial.”

The new Wrinkle in Time movie was a disgrace. Absolute rubbish. I love Madeleine L’ Engle’s books…she must be rolling in her grave.

The English Patient…made me wish i would have died in a plane crash before the movie came out!

Oh, I know! I think what really bothers me is kids who watch movies like A Wrinkle in Time or Percy Jackson, but never go and actually read the book and discover how great it is!
