Your net worth is $1m. How much would you give to save the life of an unborn child?

Zero. The child’s life is priceless, and I will not be blackmailed.
Or is it extorted?

But what if a woman said, “Give me $1 million or I get an abortion.” Hmm…In that case, I’d say, “You’ve got a deal. As soon as the baby is born and in safe hands, I’ll write you a check.”
Then, because I don’t have $1 million, the check bounces. HA HA HA HA 🎉🎉 🤣 I wouldn’t even have to go to confession for lying to her because God would think it’s funny, too.

I wouldn’t lie and promise money I had no intention of paying. Instead, I would pray for her conversion of heart and for her unborn baby.

And no, God wouldn’t think what you suggest is funny.

What does this have to do with the unborn specifically? Catholics care about all children.
Most people including atheists, would be outraged at post-birth abortions. There are babies dying of preventable causes all over the world, but they don’t have to have donated money save a child’s life to be against infancide. That is an area humans need to work on in general, to be more caring and selfless (regarding our money). This is not an abortion issue at all.

This is like the silly pro choice argument, “if you haven’t adopted children, you don’t really care about children and have no right to be pro-life.”
I can argue against aborting children in foster care/in the womb, even if I don’t plan on fostering or adopting.

I think got off track here, but this hypothetical can’t be answered straightforwardly.

so; i guess by the context of your question & its paradoxical nature

if you can’t afford to adopt a child you should vote pro-death on friday

if you are posting from ireland ; i am ashamed of you…

I don’t plan on getting a lot of money in my life so I would use the excess for purposes such as this.

If we are speaking here of what amounts to ransom (i.e. I’ll pay you to not kill your baby), then no one should give a single cent, since that would only encourage abortion. If you are envisaging some other situation then you’ll need to elaborate.

i will NEVER put a piece of green clothing on my body ever again if the republic votes pro death

i am not not an irish citizen

but my family is catholic from belfast

we’ve fought too hard too lose this

GO IRISH!

may the Holy Spirit guide the Irish Republic

Where I live, a million dollars cash can’t even get you a house… maybe an attached townhouse.

where i live, 40-50% of pew sitting catholics’ fondest fantasy is that obama could’ve been elected to a third term

in the blue states very few catholics care about pro-life

i am just hoping & praying that the irish republic can (as a people) vote for pro-life

that couldn’t ever happen in blue state america

BE BETTER than us ignorant uber-progressive american “catholics”, you irish reublicans ; i wish i could vote

Emma Watson is worth estimated $70 million & yet she always think about the books & global issues. It says a lot about her because people don’t read real books anymore. She’s not the biggest movie star but she did pretty well last year with Beauty and the Beast live action movie.

Yes, I have the same question. Can you elaborate on this @FiveLinden please.

By giving your entire networth, is that the only option? And to who?
It’s a thought experiment, not a proposed strategy! I can think of ways it would work - for example offering it to women heading to an abortion clinic. But a concrete example distracts from the point of the experiment.

When tax money of over $200 million goes directly to Planned Parenthood- the competition is steep! If it is a numbers game, I would say they got us beat- since they forcibly take our money by taxation (theft), and redistribute it to planned parenthood (murderers).

Getting planned parenthood defunded is step one.

A family friend began taking in unmarried & poor pregnant women to help them bring their babies to term and birth.

She needed an army of lawyers for taking in unrelated people … running an unlicensed hotel, the government said!!!

So in the context of the Irish referendum I have been wondering about the commitment of individual Catholics to individual human life as they see it. If, by giving much of your net worth, you could save the life of an unborn child, would you? And if yes, why have you not done so before now, as many such opportunities must have presented themselves?
What kind of loaded question is this???

[I have.]

[Why do you say I have not?]

Don’t they have anyone qualified to teach ‘sex education’ in junior high school ?

Someone told me they are actually handing out rubbers in some elementary schools -
not sure on that report though.

It should start there.

Sounds like your net worth, FiveLiden, is $1 grand - lol
