People who want to show their support to questioning people and asexual people.First it was LGBT, then LGBTQ, then LGBTQA+? Who comes up with this stuff?
Also there is I for Intersex.

Okay so you don’t know. That is fine. Well seeing how gender is a spectrum just as sexuality is it may be difficult to understand at first. I saw another acronym that fit but I don’t remember it at the moment. Ah yes “created”, not going there.I’m the person who works in the media. Since this is a Catholic forum and since Catholics are taught that He created them male and female, where did all this strange biology come from? First it was LGBT, then LGBTQ, then LGBTQA+? Who comes up with this stuff?
Positive role models who are LGBT? I can’t answer that but I’m sure LGBT publications can. I’m not allowed to link to any.

My bad. I got to remember that.People who want to show their support to questioning people and asexual people.

I’m not an advocate, and I can’t tell who is who in public. When I worked at a major hospital, patients were never asked about their sexual orientation/identity. Now, on Facebook, there are dozens of gender options. Gender fluid? Nonsense.People who want to show their support to questioning people and asexual people.

QUILTBAG?I saw another acronym that fit but I don’t remember it at the moment.
This is the crux of the problem. You accept the idea that “gender and sexuality are spectrums.” Catholics reject that idea.Okay so you don’t know. That is fine. There are dozens of gender options because there are a lot of genders. You don’t have to tell who is what in public. Just smile and say hello. Don’t worry what they are. I’m gender fluid. In the past two weeks I have been called ma’am at least three times. I am honored by it.I’m not an advocate, and I can’t tell who is who in public. That’s it. Where will it end? LGBTQIA+ ? I mean, there’s only so many letters in the alphabet. This is the crux of the problem. You accept the idea that “gender and sexuality are spectrums.” Catholics reject that idea.
We are not starting in anywhere near the same place regarding what humans are. These are fundamental differences in understanding. But we are expected, by your logic, to just take your truth at your word, as a given. But I cannot accept them.![]()
Humans are humans. Complex beings that evolved from a common ancestor separated from apes. I am curious as to why Christians reject the idea, as it isn’t just common to Catholics. Native Americans didn’t have a problem with it before Europeans came. Thailand has a third gender already. I just don’t get how some see gender and sexuality as black and white. This is the crux of the problem. You accept the idea that “gender and sexuality are spectrums.” Catholics reject that idea.

How about just people. Don’t worry about who can marry who or what they do in the privacy of their own bedroom. That’s it. Where will it end? LGBTQIA+ ? I mean, there’s only so many letters in the alphabet.

@Tagetes: I once saw GOLBAT as an acronym but it never caught on. I love QUILTBAG
I’m having a hard time with the creator having establishing marriage. The joining of couples has been a social institution for many a year, long before the church.
You misunderstand.Kids are bullied to suicide, minors are kicked out by parents, some countries prosecute for sexual orientation, some even execute. People lose jobs, people are denied housing, people are beaten up, often to death.
But, of course, the community exist solely to get on the Western straight people’s nerves. Not to be there for one another, not to protect its most vulnerable members.
And adding letters in hope to reach out to more people with the message “don’t take your life, we’re here for you” is met with “When will it end?!” Ah yes, when will attempting to save people from suicide end? When will being there for persecuted people end?
Very merciful. Very charitable. Very Christian.
Hun may I suggest a good podcast for you? It is the Gaytheist Manifesto. A wonderful podcast that, more often than not, will bring you to tears with their stories. ::hug:: You are wonderful and awesome. Going to be blunt. There is nothing “sinful” about homosexual acts. Since you follow scripture do you stone to death people for working on the Sabbath? Do you wear clothing of mixed fibers? Do you suffer not a witch to live? Those are in scripture and Jesus said not one letter of the law was to be changed. My opinion, founded in scripture, is that homosexual relationships are gravely sinful and further that the “gender ideology” movement that promotes this gender fluid nonsense is being led by the devil to confuse people and undermine the natural order established by God.
No, I don’t misuderstand. I am a person that faces the everyday hardships of being LGBTQIA in the anti-LGBTQIA legal field/social environment, despite being celibate and chaste, as Mother Church demands of me. Yet Mother Church in the face of Western straight brethren is not happy with me regardless, just because of who I fall in love with. You misunderstand.
Thank you for kind words, but I don’t think it fits the bill for me. They claim to focus on “the intersection of LGBTQ life and disbelief”. I’m a practicing Catholic. Also, they seem to be unavailable in my area.Hun may I suggest a good podcast for you? It is the Gaytheist Manifesto. Here is a New Testament reference for you.Going to be blunt. There is nothing “sinful” about homosexual acts. Since you follow scripture do you stone to death people for working on the Sabbath? Do you wear clothing of mixed fibers? Do you suffer not a witch to live? Those are in scripture and Jesus said not one letter of the law was to be changed.
And it goes without saying that the Church also teaches that homosexual relationships are immoral. So this is by no means some fringe wacky interpretation I am giving St. Paul’s words.Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
We drive and shape the language that is used by Catholics. We may not be able to control the words of others, but we do control out words. “Love the sinner, hate the sin” certainly isn’t going to go down well we attack the person, not the inclination. When an LGBT person defines themselves as their orientation our response shouldn’t be “well, you are disordered/disgusting/whatever” but “No you are a child of God, and you are more than your temptations”.I assumed basic theology was assumed. And of course hate the sin love the sinner is implied. But let’s explore for a second the parameters the LGBT movement has framed. They insist that not just an orientation but rather THE defining characteristic of their being. They liken it to race, in the Ssm debate and in the idea of gender identity. They increasingly make it harder to separate the disorder from the being.
Of course they aren’t right and defining oneself by a sinful will is not ever going to be a good thing, but in public discourse they are the ones driving and shaping the language of the debate. We sure aren’t.
