Nota Bene:
Because the Catholic Church says so via the GIRM. End of discussion, no matter how much “better” you feel your chosen posture is.
So, there’s the “pastoral catechisis for the reasons
In plain paper it’s “simon says” Newchurch GERM.

BTW:
As I pointed out BEFORE. The poll on this thread has “kneel” 53% after all those decades of indoctrination, the “sensus catholicus” comes through… Nuf said.

Why…because we would think the Vatican, as has been done for centuries, would have enough common sense to think that people actually do think that the real presence of Our Lord exists, and we want to show our subservience and reverence to him before receiving him…Must everything be so Protestant?
***Why should we have to campaign to do what is most reverent and right by God?/***QUOTE]

STANDING AIN’T PROTESTANT!!! Most fundamentalist evangelicals sit as deacons and elders pass trays full of bread and grape juice to them. They never leave their pews. In the Episcopal Church, at least through 1988, well after the Second Vatican Council, as well as in every Methodist Church I’ve heard of, the position was kneeling. KNEELING, KNEELING, KNEELING, at an altar rail, in front of an altar!!! What about this do you not get? Hold whatever opinion you want, but at least get your facts straight! And your last sentence is patently a subjective opinion! There are other people that would think that obeying the directive of our lawful shepherds is what is “most reverent and right by God!” Actually, it’s Lutheran. You are right. It’s the bishops that are protestant.

And of course don’t forget also JPII’s PERSONAL conjecture at least 25 years ago.
Guess what? That same Pope approved, through Vatican response, to the GIRM, with the specific rule to the United States that the norm is standing.

Get over it.

****No, it is not a “sensus catholicus”. It is only a sampling of some conservative individuals who are in a small minority.

Lying about statistics isn’t very nice… :tsktsk:

To the “get over it” crowd:

Listen, obedience is VERY important.

AND, I wouldn’t be a Catholic today if I wasn’t given REASONS for being Catholic. My conversion story is one big story of the question “WHY”. THEOLOGICAL REASONS!! Yes, here are BIG T Traditions and small t traditions, but in any event, there are REASONS for a bishops directives. I am not being a disrespectful Catholic to ask WHY? In fact, I’d say I was being a connected, energetic, faithful, Catholic.

Thus far, no one has given me those reasons beyond, “because he said so”.

That explaination works for me with my four year old son, but as an adult, who loves his Church, and looks to his priest, even with his faults, as a successor from Peter and the apostles, HE should have a THEOLOGICAL answer as to why standing is more reverent (or equal to?) kneeling before THE TRUE PRESENSE of our Lord and Savior.

Don’t you think he could do that?? But if he doesn’t, what should I take from that??

"You are a puny know-nothing, quite bothering me??" OR

"I don’t have a good answer, so I hope you drop it" OR at least

“You know, we don’t have many communion rails anymore, so instead of making people kneel on the hard floor, we just decided that instead of requiring the rails be installed again (Lord knows, we’re getting sued left and right, we just don’t have the money), we thought standing would be ok for now.”

At least the third one gives me something to work with.

Where’d I hear something like that before?
Oh yea, James Carvill just before the 2004 election.

By the way, the poll author is anything but a trad.

Finally, where is the statistical “lie”. There are many libs on this thread.
If the facts aren’t right, then where do I find your “truth” facts??

Pleeeese, no more making us trads wait in suspense!!! That’s cruel.😦

How many times do you need to be given the reasons???

You don’t like them or agree with them???

You are right. and the reason that you think you know better than your shepherd will be between you and God (with your confessor intervening, if you wake up in time.)

Agomemnon:
dissent is denying the faithful the right of the Mass of Tradition. I’m still waiting for the 'wide and generous application of Ecclessia Dei.
I’m still waiting for the Mass of Vatican II with Gregorian Chant and Latin at its core. I’m still waiting for it.

The problem is dissent. The American Catholic Church is an abomination. I want the Roman Catholic Church that’s in America. I don’t want dissent so I don’t want the only english mass and denial of kneelers and communion rails (there was no reason to remove them but many documents from the vatican affirming their use). I want the tabernacle back upon the alter where it belongs. I want the lay distributors back in their pews and I want only men and boys serving the altar as is the Pope intention.
I believe the good Cardinal Arinze(papabile?) recently said that VII was not about forbidding kneeling and ripping out altar rails. These were distortions of the documents of VII.

reasons?? them (indicating plural?)??

Sorry, I saw only one given: “'Cause he sez so.”

Wrong??

Pleae read post #104 and let me know what you thoughtfully think.

Yep----The Holy Spirit must have taken another vacation----Darn why doesn’t He guide the USCCB? Or better yet—why doesn’t He listen to all you kneelers???

That was not the reason I gave—No point in continuing, if you don’t even read my posts.

NOTA BENE did finally fess up under intensive interrogation…I even admitted to it
See Post 100 Here . Even though he could only come up with 1 and the GIRM says reasons
All I ever wanted to know were those reasons …from a shepherd …anyone.
I did not realize it would end up being the "Mysterium Fidei" of the GIRM.
Ok, actually I did. I knew all along there was no good reason. Finally, I got a lib to admit it in a moment of weakness (ie telling the truth).

Whoa, and you care not to comment on mine (#104), apparently.

But please, I would rather know I’m wrong than to go on wrongly thinking I’m right, so please, which posts of yours did I miss that didn’t ecompass the “because he said so” argument.

Please give me the post numbers so I can read them and be corrected.

It was the arthritis epidemic in 1971. Wherein 1.7% (the crisis point) could not kneel.
Did I get it right?

Now, for the real, real reason. Ready?
Close yur eyes. Wait…Ok OPEN.

To destroy a Religion, you must first sever its traditions.

Arinze is a spokesperson for the Pope on liturgy. When the USCCB defies the pope, who do we listen to? The USCCB or the Pope? There was recently a bit of defiance going on by electing Trautman, a proponent of inclusive language, to head up the liturgy committee. The Pope is on the side of the kneelers. When the bishop of Arlington forbade kneeling at Christendom College an appeal was made to JPII. He came down on the side of Christendom and said that kneeling is not to be forbidden.

HE guides the Magesterium, not the AMChurch Councils, right??

But in ANY event, all I wanted to know is WHY theologically,(and in the absence of theological reasoning, practical or even political reasons)

EVERY Tradition or tradition has meaning. Meaning in relation to GOD, His plan, etc. And every directive from the successors of Peter has meaning too. That each custom or tradition is MEANT for something, to serve some purpose. There ARE reasons for a bishop to decide for his diocese to do, or not do x, y, and z. There ARE reasons. Some reasons are practical, some are theological, some are political.

**WELL…
** Because the HS is being attributed to KNEELING in the TLM, and STANDING in the NOM…same rite.

Latin rite…Eastern rite is another rite. I’m talking about the SAME rite only.

Actually the HS was working for the kneelers. Thru JPII, the TLM showed up out of nowhere…VOILA…(that’s frenchy for PRESTO) kneeling is back…Added HS gift, no potato-chip style communion . Added HS gift, no Neighbor Jane E ministers. He is AMAZING (Grace).

BTW:
We DO read all your posts, faithfully. They are an assurance that we are on the right track. Besides, it’s better information than the Vatican.
How else would we have ever found out that 2% of people who cannot kneel is a crisis that demanded standing for the other 98% ? We can’t even get that from our “shepherds”! You are a regular “Discovery Channel”. Keeping us up to date “as the GIRM Turns”.
“If you post, they will read.”

The Holy See and/or the USCCB, as far as the posture for Holy Communion goes.
