The Holy See and/or the USCCB, as far as the posture for Holy Communion goes.
That’s a great idea. How easily I forget. I went straight there to get the no-spin truth about the homosexual predator scandal.
They were really forthcoming.

No one said that the leadership in the Church was sinless. You’re intelligent enough to recognize the “strawman argument.” You asked what were the “reasons.” I suggested earlier asking Cardinal Arinze or the papal legate. Why don’t you write them? If not, why not? Why keep picking at it? We know the universal norm is kneeling, but the American bishops asked for the Holy See to okay us standing. What’s the big deal? We know you don’t like what you perceive to be the post-Vatican II church. Why keep harping on it, particularly about the standing/kneeling thing? If they came out tomorrow and said, “Kneel,” it wouldn’t be any big deal to me, I’d kneel. I note your persistent use of the term “newchurch.” The only other site where I’ve seen that on is Traditio (where you must have also picked up the lovely picture of the Methodist church which looks like a traditional Catholic church), which denies the validity of the Mass of Paul VI. Tell me, how is that different from Protestantism? Why don’t you, who seem to possess all the answers and the fullness of truth, just leave us to our reprobation? You can kneel and go to Heaven and we’ll stand in ignorant and unenlightened obedience to the evil bishops appointed by the deluded pope and spin on our spits in Hell’s rotissere for all eternity.

“When the U.S. bishops proposed this adaptation, the Holy See insisted on the provision that the faithful who choose to kneel not be denied Communion.”

This is a cut and paste from Catholic Answers own writings. You can’t be denied communion for kneeling, so kneel away. It’s a non-issue.

Do so only if you want to be a liturgically abusive Catholic (after you have received your pastoral counseling in private of course.)

See Post 100 Here . Even though he could only come up with 1 and the GIRM says reasons
All I ever wanted to know were those reasons …from a shepherd …anyone.
I did not realize it would end up being the "Mysterium Fidei" of the GIRM.
Ok, actually I did. I knew all along there was no good reason. Finally, I got a lib to admit it in a moment of weakness (ie telling the truth).
Please don’t lie about my posts. You’re acting in asinine manner – as if that makes your argument somehow stronger. It dosen’t. If you don’t think that following the Church is reason enough, then you’re simply another cafeteria catholic who prefers the “tlm.”

The options on this poll were not very good or well thought out.

Great post, and definitely contributes much to the discussion.

Actually I did spend some time in thought before I posted. I just wanted to see what percentage of the people choose to kneel when there are no provisions, or they are instructed by their Pastor to stand. I am glad to see it is under 20% of this very conservative sampling. It would be much lower, if the whole Church were surveyed.

This is what I wished to learn—write your own poll, if you would like different information.

TNT—Your post #120 was by far the most nausiating of all. The slam against Italians was really a nice touch.
It was the arthritis epidemic in 1971. Wherein 1.7% (the crisis point) could not kneel.
Did I get it right?
Considering the number of over 50 members of the congregation, I’m sure the percentage is much higher, especially for the daily Mass attendees. An orderly procession to receive, and then kneeling on return is far more reverent then someone disrupting the whole procession by kneeling when everyone else is standing.

What is the percentage of bishops accused, for which you condemn the entire USCCB? This is reverence?

I will pray for you.

Nota Bene:
Because the Catholic Church says so via the GIRM. End of discussion, no matter how much “better” you feel your chosen posture is.

This post was one of the most scandalous and low post I have seen on this site. I expect such group generalizations from the secular media, but not faithful Catholics. I understand how easy it is to get caught up int the moment though, but do not give aid to our enemy.

Submit to the priest and bending the knees of your heart, accept correction and change your minds.

Which I posted above, is not the arm of the “Secular Media”.
I’ll add another one, which also is not secular

These are Faithful Catholics who are trying to clean out a cancer in their Church.
Now, pray tell, if it wasn’t for them AND the “secular media”, how would you know ANYTHING about the deep corruption in the AMER. hierarchy? Who defended the victims?? Was it the bishops, the Nuncio, the Vatican or the the secular media.and the Law who were notified by them?
The mafia only betrays the body, the bishops betray the souls of their OBEDIENT victims OVER WHOM THEY REIGN.

Nevertheless, keep following them, they have our complete confidence in saving souls.
I only posted a little “pinch” of the corruption. The sites have much more.

Until the Faithful get behind the demand to clean up the USCCB (aka the US bishops), with a loud voice, it will only get worse…the good will be continue to be spiritually sacrificed, the messengers will continue to be mocked, the churches will continue to be devastated, the Faithful will continue to be paganised by demolishing all the traditions of the RCC.

Evil prevails where otherwise good men do NOTHING. (Except make excuses for minimizing evil.)
Standing for communion was only one of many ways of De-Sacralizing the Worship. There was no spiritual good in view, as the posters admitted.

Why do you, a Protestant, continue harrassing us on this issue? Since you are such a convinced Protestant, it really shouldn’t matter to you, should it? As I said, leave us to our reprobation.

I know that TNT has got you bug-eyed over his provocative posts, but I would sincerely like one of you to thoughtfully respond to my posts #104, #112, and #116.

Mysty101? Nota Bene? Anyone else??

No need for anger. Frustration, maybe. 😃

I don’t know, but I suspect it has to do with the size of at least urban parishes (large) and a shortage of priests. Standing facilitates a swifter reception of communion? You can get more people through the line? The Episcopal churches which I attended were small compared to most Catholic parishes. We knelt for communion, the priest sat the bread in our hands, another priest or chalice bearer administered the wine.

So as a matter of practicality, then?? I can see that. I appreciate your response. Anyone else?? Any other reasons?? Theological reasons to point to??

As someone who lived through the changes, I can tell you it was closely connected to the movement to encourage more frequent reception of communion. So practical in the most part but also identified with that great renewal that was debated between the Jesuits and the Jansenists and to which St. Pius X moved the Church forward.

How about this, I kneel before my God and not only that! I REFUSE to receive Christ from a so called “Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist!” I don’t care if the so called “line captain” tells me to go to them. They have no jurisdiction over me or anyone else.

Whoa!! Somehow requiring people to kneel before OUR LORD was “turning off” Catholics from recieving communion???

“…encouraging more frequent reception of communion”

Hasn’t the opposite occured?? Haven’t a whole lot of people LEFT the Church in the last 35 years??

I must confess, I do the same if we are visiting another parish. We will sit in the very back, so as to not call attention to ourselves, but we get in the line of the priest, in whose consecrated hands holds the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.
