Tonight it’s grilled salmon. This afternoon, egg salad sandwiches. I agree with Cinette; it’s hardlly a penance for us.
But maybe a little fasting in between the meals could make up for that?

I’ve decided to add a pious practice to my day in the form of prayers for BXVI, inspired by this new blog.

I can think of no better reason for bloggers to come together for a common cause than in support of the concept behind this new blog. And it’s a great reason for those who don’t have blogs to start one !

I don’t know if it’s pious practice or more a spiritual discipline, but I try very hard on Saturday nights, after praying first Vespers for Sunday, to turn off the TV and computer for the evening (if there’s something I really want to watch, well, that’s why they invented recorders). Then I like to spend the time in personal prayer, spiritual reading, listening to sacred music, teaching myself Latin prayers or chant, etc.
I’m not always completely successful, but I do find in my own spiritual life that the better I start gearing up for Sunday the night before the better I’m dialled-in interiorly at Mass regardless of what’s going on around me.
