Bella,

This is the founder of the organization that you support. How can you call yourself a Catholic and support an organization that kills millions of children a year?

Let me offer this comparison. Hitler turned the whole German economy around, got them out of a depression, gave people jobs, healthcare, highways, ect. Look at all those good things he did for people that couldn’t afford them! But at the same time he murdered millions of people. Should we ignore that inconvenient fact and focus only on the good things he did for his country and therefore support Nazism? How is your position any different from that?

Rand, Margaret Sanger is dead as a doornail and has been for quite some time.

Do you drive a Ford? Did you know Henry was a Nazi sympathizer? What about Disney, do you like any of his stuff, especially the older cartoons? Nazi.

While the ideals of the founder were certainly nothing to be proud of, that does not necessarily reflect on those of the organization today. PP is not about trying to sneakily exterminate minorities, it is a public health service provider for everyone.

Pax tecum!

No I don’t drive a Ford…I don’t own a car and if I did I wouldn’t buy a Ford. They also are huge homosexual activist supporters.

What area of town are PP clinics in in most major cities? The predominately black areas. Coincidence? In Portland, PP was just given some land by the city to build a new clinic. Now is this being built somewhere like Raleigh Hills in SW Portland or the Peal District? Nope, it’s being built on NE MLK Blvd. That is the black area of the city. Just another coincidence? And what about the clinic that PP built down in Baja California with plans to get the family size down to under 2 children per family? If you are familiar with demographics, you know that it takes 2.1 children per family to replace a population…PP has enough researchers that that fact didn’t just get overlooked. Check out STOPP for more information on why PP still continues the eugenics of their founder. It’s people that keep making excuses for them that allows them to stay around.

While I heard that Ford was anti-semetic, I don’t believe that Disney was a Nazi as you say. Have you seen any of his WW2 cartoon? There were quite a few mocking the axis powers (Der Fuehrer’s Face being one example)

Are you aware they have been advertising on television as if they were legit?

As for the poster who stated that they help people that is a lie. They want your “business” and that is abortion and buying their “toys” and “pills”. Once in a blue moon they throw a freebie out there to lure people in. Some of their “gyno” services are free so they can sell you their birth control, and other services (such as abortion). I know about these places because the girls where I work would usually look into working there.

Most of you are too young to remember old version of Cheaper By the Dozen when the Planned Parenthood rep. comes to see mom and she gives her what for. Back then people had the sense to understand what they were all about (the twenties and thirties). Not so today.

Anyway, they have won, haven’t they? Most people think they are just wonderful. Our pro-life group protests outside the local office, just a small satellite. They resent that we’re there, insisting they don’t perform abortions. Well, people have to get to the truth somehow. If we don’t tell it, who will?

We simple wont by a ford because they are HUGE supporters of PP. Go figure.

I saw both the older and newer version of Cheaper by the Dozen. The old one they stood up proud of their family - in the new one child was conceived when they were drunk, they had twins, and then they had another child because the Fathers vasectomy needed a few days to take effect.

You know, there’s more than one coincidence there. They’re also being built in the poorest areas. There’s demand there, not just for abortions and contraception, but for basic medical care. Many, many Americans can’t afford health insurance, let alone surgery, a hospital stay, or expensive prescription drugs. And most of us simply look away, pass on the other side of the road. At least the people you vilify are doing something.

Perhaps I was a little too brief there, but the Straight Dope has some rather interesting information.

Yes, and the reason they are built in poor areas is NOT to “help” the poor people. It’s happening exactly as Margaret Sanger wanted–she was a eugenist and believed that poor people were a drain on society and should be eliminated through contraception and abortion. THAT is why PP builds clinics in poor areas.

Why are you so adamantly defending PP? Why not answer my question on how they are any different than the Nazis, who also had programs to help the German people. At the same time they were “helping” people, they were committing genocide, just like PP. Like I said, it is people like you who defend them and make excuses for them and say they’re a good organization just trying to help our poor people (by charging them $350 an abortion and then selling them condoms that are of extremely low quality–which was proven in a test on 10 different brands of condoms–so that the contraception fails and they come back for another $350 abortion) that allows them to continue to murder millions of children. Congratulations, good work.

It is not necessary for me to vilify PP. They vilify themselves by their actions.

Are you so virulently opposed to them that you can’t accord them a shred of altruism or decency – or even good, old-fashioned capitalist greed? You paint them all as monsters, and don’t even stop to think that they’re human just like you.

There is a need in poor areas that was unfulfilled without PP – or rather, filled incompletely with rusty, bloody coathangers. And that’s not even going into the testing and medical care aspects. Rich people can go to the hospital for all that. Poor people can’t.

Midrath,

Care to point out some of these other services?

They are in business to encourage sexuality in the young to fuel the sex industry, and to encourage contraception of the “undesirables”. ( I point you to the Humanist Manifestos I and II.) They are not a philanthropic organization. They are a social engineering organization that poses as philanthropic so that they, and thus their philosophy and agenda, will be accepted by the mainstream. Needless to say, they have been successful.

You are either gullible, or you agree with their agenda. Do you agree with their agenda? If you do, then say so and stop pretending they are what they are not. Health care is available for women. There are clinics and offices set up everywhere with legitimate health care providers. PP is not legitimate. It is a porn-
pushing house of filth, dressed up to look like a health clinic, where a girl will go when she doesn’t want her parents to know, or be embarrassed to see a legitimate MD about her PID, etc. You know, some good old-fashioned shame may be what is needed with some people to mend their self-destructive ways.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am incensed that these people don’t come out and admit to what they are. They think that we are all so stupid, we’ll fall for it. Well, apparently, they’re correct. I suppose the day is coming when they will be up front about it, and no one will even care. Sort of like TV. It’s all very depressing.

Midrath,

Gyn exams. STD/STI testing and treatment. Pregnancy testing. Care to read my posts? I’ve mentioned all those before.

The young don’t NEED any encouragement. Better that they do what they’re already going to do informed than blindly. As to ‘fueling’, do you have any direct evidence of a link between Planned Parenthood and the prostitution and pornography industries?

I’ve already been over the ‘undesirables’ thing and I don’t feel like repeating myself.
( I point you to the Humanist Manifestos I and II.)
What does that have to do with it? I skimmed the first and second Manifestos and found only this on the subject of eliminating ‘undesirables’: We deplore racial, religious, ethnic, or class antagonisms. Doesn’t fit.
You are either gullible, or you agree with their agenda. Do you agree with their agenda? If you do, then say so and stop pretending they are what they are not.
Why yes, I agree with their ‘agenda’ insofar as I have explained it here. I’m not pretending to anything – dreaming up vast nationwide conspiracies isn’t my idea of a fun time.
Health care is available for women. There are clinics and offices set up everywhere with legitimate health care providers.
If you have the money.

I don’t know about all 800 or so clinics, but I do know the two local one. One of them is the newer business adaptation, the “drive through” store. They offer STD testing and pretty much every type of contraception out there, and some barriers.

Seeing as there is not a licensed doctor or even nurse practitioner or nurse at all, I am not surprised there are not other services offered.

To those who say Planned Parenthood should be given credit for other services offered, I would say that depends on the argument.

For example, if I kill your crazy abusive boyfriend, should I be given credit for making your life better? If this company offers some services that might incidentally lead to some good, should we give them credit?

Probably the biggest obstacle barring us from giving Planned Parenthood any credit is the very fact in their own financial and statistical reports: they are a very profit-driven industry. There are plenty of reports out there, many of them from Planned Parenthood itself, that document such things as the millions of dollars in profit, the ratio of clinics in minority areas, even the ratio of abortion vs. adoption referrals.

The bare bones of the company itself does not lie to anyone. It’s just the PR branch and most of America that seems hellbent on ignoring the company.

For those who believe PP is out there to help women, how thoroughly have you researched this company? Have you studied the founder? Do you know the history from American Birth Control League to PP? How many fiscal reports have you looked at? Have you studied their annual reports? Or their mission statements? Do you ever read the leader’s writings or statements? Do you look at who donates to this company?

Some, some, some, none, no, yes, some, and don’t care, respectively.

As I said earlier, Margaret Sanger’s reprehensible views do not necessarily have any bearing on the mission of the organization as it is or on the ideals of the people currently running it.

You might also be surprised if you saw what some actual charities which are supposedly even less profit-oriented do, from United Way on down. Last I saw, PP has no such pretensions.

Midrath,

So, finally, some truth comes out. Your sarcasm noted. I noticed you did not reply to my accusation of pushing pornography and sex. Your rationalizations are pathetic. And no, the clinics are medicaid clinics. We taxpayers pay for it all.
It just takes a call to your local health department, and there you go.

Just what is your affiliation with this organization, may I ask? What exactly do you do for them, besides providing apologetics on their behalf?

Do you deny that girls go there to get birth control and treatment for their STD;s there because they can do it without their parents or legitimate doctor’s knowledge? If you deny this, you are a liar.

And do you really believe these health care professionals (doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.) are enjoying any esteem among their colleagues for being involved in this organization? No. They are considered low calibre. The bottom of the barrel.
Why? Because they may not always be able to put their finger on it, but they know dirty business goes on down there. It makes a person feel icky just thinking about it. And PP has a reputation for being filthy. They are also poor employers with few benefits, long hours and little pay. These people get millions of dollars handed to them on a silver platter from donors, not to mention the blood money.

Also, they claim that they provide free service and medication is a bogus claim. I was once involved in a research project where we called all the PP offices in our state, and out of about forty places, two provided some free services. The RU-486, the pills, the diaphragms— they weren’t any cheaper than you get at Walgreens or your local MD. They all pretty much took medicaid. That was the only difference. They cannot tell the truth to save their lives.

If the kids aren’t supported by adults in their bad behavior, then told to “go get rid of it” when it produces what is natural, society wouldn’t be in such a melt down. If adults cared enough for these kids to tell them to straighten up, and protect a girl from being exploited by some guy who wants to score so he can brag to his friends, there wouldn’t be babies raising babies with the societal consequences of inadequate parenting. How long can this go on before civilization collapses?

They don’t ‘push’ porn. Or sex. It’s more that they don’t have the blinders you do and realize young people are going to get into all that anyway – they just encourage them to know what they’re getting into.

Absolutely none.

[QUOET]Do you deny that girls go there to get birth control and treatment for their STD;s there because they can do it without their parents or legitimate doctor’s knowledge? If you deny this, you are a liar.

Of course not. Nor do I deny minors buy cigarettes and alcohol with fake IDs and no parental consent at grocery stores. Should we try to run Kroger into the ground for that? No, because they provide legitimate services – as does PP.
And do you really believe these health care professionals (doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.) are enjoying any esteem among their colleagues for being involved in this organization? No. They are considered low calibre. The bottom of the barrel.

Ah, an argument from squick! Priceless. And completely, entirely, utterly irrelevant.

So, uh, they do provide some free services in some cases? You contradict yourself. And I never said they did anyway.
How long can this go on before civilization collapses?

TWO MORE WOMEN KILLED AFTER TAKING RU-486 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced to the public last Friday that two more women’s lives have been claimed because of the abortion pill RU-486 (Mifeprex). Danco Laboratories, the manufacturer of the drug, reported the tragic deaths quietly to the FDA. The two most recent victims received their prescriptions at Planned Parenthood clinics. The long running dispute between the FDA and Planned Parenthood over this pill-based abortion and the safest way to provide it has now cost two more women their lives. FDA now reports that six women in the United States and seven in Canada have died from this drug. Reporting of drug side effects in the United States is voluntary, so it could be possible that more women have died and their deaths have gone unreported. Now people are asking what is being done about this outrage. The FDA has decided to hold a ‘workshop’ on May 11 to investigate RU-486. Yes, May 2006–two months away! Young women are taking this drug and dying, while we wait for the FDA to hold its “workshop” in a couple months to get a better understanding of the risk factors. How much more investigating is needed? How many more women will die needlessly? Ask the family of Holly Patterson, a teenager who died in September 2003 after being given RU-486. The Religious Freedom Coalition is among dozens of groups urging Congress to act now to pull this dangerous drug off the market. The RFC has been working with Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, sponsor of Holly’s Law (H.R. 1079) which would suspend FDA’s fast-track approval of RU-486. Has your congressman agreed to sponsor this important lifesaving bill? Contact your congressman. Women need to be protected from this drug now, not after the “workshop” has been held

Here are just three links about the dangers of the same Planned Parenthood that you are defending.

Remember this…when two people walk into Planned Parenthood, one walks out…and the other one dies.

Yes, crisis pregnancy centers such as Birthright, First Way, Bethany, etc. which are located all over the country and are pro-life will do free pregnancy testing and give referrals to hospitals for medicaid coverage for those who need it.

Here’s a hotline number for National Life Center: 1-800-848-LOVE
Well I don’t need it now, but thanks for posting those. I know there are none of those were I live now, and hadn’t heard of them when I needed them… Good to know some exist at least.

When the CPC i couseled at applied to be able to provide medicaid preganancy verifications Planned Parenthood fought us every step of the way. Makes one wonder about their professed mission of heloing women.
