That was not hate, it was sarcasm but its offensive to say the youth day mass was irreverent because it wasnt done to the rubrics.
It’s not offensive. That’s speaking plainly. It is irreverent when it is not done according to the rubrics.

All Hail Traditional Catholics!!! We are unworthy to be in the presence of your holiness. Please pray for us pagans who dont have latin in any of our masses!!
Did you forget to take your meds today? Let’s stay calm…

Are you saying that masses celebrated by Blessed JPII in Africa were irreverent too?
The rubrics are there for a reason. If you have an issue with a specific rubric that’s one thing, but you’re basically just trying to tell me that the rubrics hold no weight and can just be ignored. Are you sure that you want to defend that argument?

Im not saying that at all because we do need the rubrics. Its not like we are changing words of consecration here. Like JPII did in his masses was to allow the local culture take part. For special occasions, I see nothing wrong here.

Then for the sake of simplicity let’s just discuss the liturgical dancing aspect. The Vatican has stated vehemently that dance is not allowed during the liturgy, at least in the United States (some exceptions were granted for Africa and Asia, but even that is very subdued and highly reverent based on the culture). With this in mind, are you okay with liturgical dance being formed at the Youth Day Liturgy?

Cardinal Arinze: “The congregation [for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments] feels that people who have time to discuss liturgical dancing in the West should spend that time praying the Rosary.”

Here’s a sample of the reverence I see: youtube.com/watch?v=Vpt9XXYHd18&t=78m58s

At 1:19:58, during the Agnus Dei, with the Blessed Sacrament on the altar, we see people giggling and chatting. Then they notice themselves on the projection screen, and exult with squeals, hopping, and handwaving.

The only conclusion I can draw from this moment of transparency is that they really do think it is all about themselves.

Now tell me: did they behave that way because they are enthusiastic youth, or because this particular attempt at inculturation inadvertently ended up sending a vulgarizing and desacralizing message to the participants?

What exactly is the local culture of Los Angeles? “Allowing the local culture” doesn’t mean the newest fads.

And sometimes the “local culture” is a culture that shouldn’t be celebrated… I think the culture of LA might fit into that category.
