In NSW, Australia, the State government will soon vote on a bill which gives “personhood” to the unborn, who are believed to be 20 weeks or older.
The bill came about after a pregnant woman’s unborn child was killed by a drunk in a car accident.
The woman believed the drunk should have been charged with murder, but there was no such law.
Now, the pro-abortionists are lobbying hard against the bill. They do not want the unborn to have personhood status.
However, the Bill exempts any medical procedures or anything done with the mothers consent. So abortion shouldn’t enter the argument.

Do you know of anywhere else around the world of such a law that may act as a precedent?
Is there anywhere else in the world that rules the unborn, at some stage of development, as having the same status as a person?

PS. I think It is called Zoe’s Law as that was to be the name of the unborn child.

…the drunk driver should be sued for practicing medicine (abortions) without a license…

Abortion confuses me.

In England my friend had their baby at 20 weeks, the moment the baby is born it would be murder but if they would have been able to legally murder the child for another four weeks if he hadn’t been born so early.

20 weeks outside illegal.
24 weeks inside legal.

I say ban abortion now!

So Nelka, are you saying that in the UK , after 24 weeks, the unborn is considered to be a person?

The status of person hood is a legal status that historically has been given or denied to individuals. There were many places where blacks or Jews didn’t have the label of persons and for many years women and children did not have persoonhood status. There are countries that do give person hood to unborn children and these usually have fully criminalize abortion. What calls my attention is that part " about consent of the mother." Sounds like then the mother would have a legal right to kill her own children??? That may be the troubling part about it

Zoe is the Greek word for life, as in eternal life.

Bios is the physical life.

Zoe is the word used for the Resurrection and eternal life.

In the U.S. we have The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004. It recognizes a child in utero as a legal victim, if he or she is injured or killed during the commission of any of over 60 listed federal crimes of violence. The law defines “child in utero” as "a member of the species Homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.

Additionally, 38 states also recognize the fetus or “unborn child” as a crime victim, for purposes of homicide or feticide.

Thank you, I found that 2004 Act most useful.

What an amazing coincidence that her name was Zoe.

There is a rapidly emerging body of case law which increasingly recognizes that the unborn have legal rights and the so-called age of personhood is getting pushed back earlier and earlier.

…Medical negligence. Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Car accident injuries. Legal guardian/parenthood of surrogate or IVF embryos.

This is true but despite that in the US an unborn child is not a person. Remember Roe v Wade and Casey.

Please for give the excursive method, my mother and father always taught me, those that write the laws do so to gain money, power, fame. It is rather scary.

If you want to change the City of Man, one has to write the laws.

He who writes the laws writes them in his favor!

The Kingdom of God laws were written on our hearts. So we are going to be okay if we follow Him.
