Being protestant, it is first, incomplete. Having only 66 books, it specifically excludes the Deuterocanon, which contains the introduction of the teaching of the resurrection leading to eternal life. As well, what is the authority of the authors to determine what God meant in each verse? Jesus founded a Church, not two guys who went to an American seminary.

It won’t all be error, obviously, but it will have enough error to lead the faithful astray. Protestants, as all over the map as they are, will disagree over its interpretations until the parousia.

For a Catholic, it is hard to find much better than the Haydock Commentary.

Where is the light? Something is missing? The Catechism says, “Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe **all **that he has said and revealed to us, and that Holy Church proposes for our belief, because he is truth itself.” (CCC 1814) “But without faith it is impossible to please God.” (Heb 11:6) So, little that I am if God is not pleased why should I be?
