A random internet poster saying that his Bishop is defying the Covid protocols has no traction.

Maybe you have been going to clandestine masses but the OP refers to an ecclesial body flouting the law. It occurred- there is public knowledge of that.

Just saying secret- very romantic- masses are going on is a non-entity to the discussion.

Why does everything have to be about race. This thread in not about a race issue. How does it get off topic? This thread is about a protestant church not a Catholic church who feels they are being overly fined.

They feel California should allow them to have religious services. It has been 7 months.

And services were closed for a long time here in the UK - the Church here behaved in an exemplary manner and has only recently re-opened Churches for Masses. Some physically very small Churches remain shut.

I am glad to see they have reopened. We have had a mix and many of our churches including Catholic churches are closed in many states.

That is what this protestant group in angered about. I would think they are still able to financially maintain themselves.

It could be. Fines are pretty steep and whether they will be able to work this out becomes an issue.

The church has been asked for a protocol but the state won’t accept a protocol from them and continue to fine daily. (52 thousand dollars fined in the last nine days.)

Why don’t they just follow the law?

Isn’t that what people said about George Floyd?

If this law is so wrong, why does is every Catholic Church able to comply with it?

Googling the name of the church in question yields a number of local news stories that provide more context. It appears that they are conducting indoor services and that they are refusing to follow even the most basic precautions. There was even a report that the pastor “advised” his followers not to tell their doctors if they get sick, because he does not want those cases reported to the state.

The Catholic church got into trouble too.

Public health officials said in May that San Francisco would allow religious services and ceremonies to resume June 15. But after an increase in the number of coronavirus cases, the city’s public health orders were updated June 11, noting that religious services could be held only if conducted outdoors and with a limited number of people.
Some have drive-thru communion.
