For those who foolishly think that churches will be exempt from participation in homosexual “marriage”…Although this is Europe, the US will not be far behind.
Proposed Ordinance Would Force Kansas Churches to Host Gay Weddings
Hutchinson Human Relations Commission has explained that, under the new regulations, churches that make their buildings available for the general public would not be able to refuse gay couples. This essentially means that churches would be forced to, via rental agreements, support gay nuptials.
“They would not be able to discriminate against gay and lesbian or transgender individuals. That type of protection parallels to what you find in race discrimination,” Meryl Dye, a spokesperson for the commission, said in an interview with Fox News. “If a church provides lodging or rents a facility they could not discriminate based on race. It’s along that kind of thinking.”

laugh all you want but catholics are becoming the joke. there is undenable evidence of it both in the mythologies of Ancient peoples and in the written records.

all you have to do is study hindu culture, and the third gender belief, it’s history and practises and the fact that some form of union is still taking place in many parts of india.

just cause you choose to put your head in the sand and pretend it’s not real doesn’t make it any less true. Im really stating to think catholics may be anti-education, and full of revisionist history.

well pope ‘saint’ (and i use that term loosely) Gregory did go down in history as saying “Ignorance is the mother of piety.”…guess it order to be a Catholic you have to be Ignorant of history, Archaeology etc and apparently it mean to be a catholic u have to dismiss sources like encycolpedia Britannica.

if this is where Catholicism is going count me out, at least out of following the rubbish, no one will make me leave the church and I will stay to provide a witness to the truth against you fundamentalists 😃

I fully believe that this law will come to the US one day and it will be a dark day indeed. I am ashamed to say that I really see very little in the way of fighting back against the Gay radicals in our communities. This is where we must start and that is in our own community and I do not by any means mean “Gay Bashing” or bad mouthing, name calling or finger shaking. We need to begin with our youth and point out to them that “Being Gay” is unacceptable behavior and cannot be tolerated at all in any situation. These people who believe themselves to be gay have some serious emotional problems and should be treated as such. They are by no means normal members of society and should not be given any equal rights in any area. They should be guided to seek help every time we encounter them. We cannot encourage them in any way so again, I say that anytime you encounter a gay individual you simply ask them if you can help by making them an appointment with the nearest psychologist and try to be kind about it. Show others around you that there is no room for homosexuality in society just the same as there is no room for violence or such. We must STOP them here and now before its too late here in the US and let us set an example for the world to see and appreciate.

and that is why people and religions like you will become the new KKK of the 21st century.

you’ve already lost cause most psychologists and their respective institutions dont call homosexuality is a mental illness… perhaps catholic ones might but theya re not the the mainstream.

its you, not gay people who need help!

I apologize for laughing so hard, but the sources you cite aren’t exactly reputable resources (except for the encyclopedia, but no one beyond 8th grade uses that as a serious resource).

If you’re going to come to this forum and try to tell us how uneducated we are, you better come packing more than wiki to support yourself.

well I could quote books…but Im afraid catholics may go around burning them again…you know book burning seems to be a Catholic thing, since the days of Cyril of Alexandria (perhaps even earlier)

Yes because, snide attacks rather than rational argumentation will help your cause.

well If the church didn’t actually do stuff like book burning I of course wouldn’t have bought it up. but we can see by these types of incidences that Education and scholarly research don’t matter much to a Christian, if they did they wouldn’t have burnt books. Thus I don’t see the point of naming any books cause frankly you would just dismiss them as your spiritual ancestors did.

if you don’t believe that there in the past has been some form of same sex unions in various cultures thats your choice to believe it or not. the evidence is there. it can be found on the net, in books, in universities etc.

each culture and religion has a right to exist. if some religions believe that homosexuality is fine what right to do u have to try and impose your standards on them? you people have no right!

what you believe in the privacy of the your churches and in your homes in find. but stop trying to impose it on others, and stop pretending you live in a nation that’s first duty is to impose religious truth on it’s people. that is not the role of any modern democratic nation… democracy ended your monopoly on tellign everyone what to do. if you dont like it then go live in the middle east. but the govt does not answer to you people.

Also, if one is going to attempt rational argument, it would appear more intelligent if it use proper, punctuation, spelling and grammar.

What is a spiritual ancestor?
if you don’t understand that well then there is defiantly no use in continuing our discussion. the lasty post i will make on this tread is this:

close your bible, open a book about say sexual ethics in Hindu or Ancient Chinese society and educate yourself about the facts, rather than just say “same sex unions didn’t happen”…cause they did. I will agree it was not as common as opposite sex unions, and it did not happen in every place or every-time. but it did and still does happen.

specify look up information on ‘Third Gender’ and Hindu law, medicine and astrology. Id also recommending looking up several hindu sub-groups groups including the Hijras, Alis and Kotis.

whilst its true there were the pederastic relationships in Ancient Greece there was also same sex relationships between men of equal class and not bound by age.Aristotle mentions and praises a same sex couple Philolaus and Dioclese who lived their whole lives together and maintained a household together. now whilst these texts don’t refer to it as a marriage there is no reason why we should think that this couple was treated any differently than any other married couple in ancient times.

I think that is enuff for me…you can look at the history of same sex unions in china and Rome and other places by yourself. but dont tell me its a ‘modern invention’ or the marriage is static and unchangeable and there has only ever been 1 kind of love i,e man and woman, through history.

anyone who reads knows better.

That did not answer the question. Nor do insults about my need to read bear any weight in light of your posts, which do not convey any sense of scholarship. Of course there have been many civilizations which have engaged in open homosexuality. Sodom and Gomorrah come to mind. Sin is very old in all its forms. None of this has anything to do with the issue of today’s intrusion into the Catholic Church, in the United States or in Europe.

I know I said that was my last post but your post was sooooooo funny I had to reply.

you actually belive Sodom and Gomorrah were real places??? OMG that so cute! let me guess the Easter bunny just visited you as well!

on a serious note: homosexuality was never identified as the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah until the time of the emperor Justinian. strange how for well over a 1000 years the jewish people missed that one, Jesus too!

Im sorry but Sodom and Gomorrah are not real. just like Lots wife wasn’t really turned into a pillar of salt for simply looking back (yep merciful God there aye)

no evidence exists for Sodom and Gomorrah as being real. none at all! heck there is no archaeological evidence for the exodus happening on the scale it happened in the bible, or at all for that matter. now Im not saying there are no truths to these stories but seriously your going to discriminate against a group of people based on that???

wow biblical literalism much?

The bible has also been used to justify slavery and racism, I actually sorry to hear Catholics have not really learnt from the past but are going down the same road as b4. as I said the new KKK is here, and the pope shall be her leader!

The Church really needs to take the beam out of her eye on this one.
She can’t even get those who claim fellowship to follow or agree with her teachings. Why on earth would non-Catholics listen?
Again, nobody is able to force the Church to marry anyone, at least here in the US. A Church has the right to set its own conditions on how it defines marriage.

I mean, why not make unmarried couples living together against the law? Or contraceptives? You don’t see Catholics pushing that.

Exactly.

I don’t see Churches being unable to deny marriage to heterosexual couples who have been married before, so why would they be forced regarding homosexual marriage?

the church will never marry homesexuals, any one who believes otherwise is extremly naive.
how many catholics can the govermnet lock up.
the liberals catholics are all 50 + and getting ready to meet their maker, the liberal catholic’s children have little or no interest in the church, go figure. the church may be smaller but it will be people of the faith who will stay.

The revisionist history is nothing new. See, that is a part of the agenda.

You’re right that the Church won’t do it, but that doesn’t preclude the State from requiring it. I was thinking about this last night during our Pastoral Council meeting. A woman has brought her dog to Mass a few times. Father talked to her, and she said it is a service dog. He asked her to bring documentation, and she stopped coming. She’s back, so Father asked for documentation.

Why is this relevant, you ask? Another Council member relayed the fact that a person with a dog was turned away from Mass at our Cathedral. It was a service dog, so the Archdiocese was fined $50,000. What sort of penalties will the State try to enact for turning away a gay couple seeking “marriage?”

If the State compels churches to perform gay “marriages,” in a demand for “equality,” will the Church go underground?
