Judite, welcome.

As Catholics, we must be attentive to the distinction our Church has relative to the non-Catholic churches. You are right, the church certainly is a body of believers, God’s united people. But the key is that we are united in the FULLNESS of Truth, and a validation of this unity is the existence of absolutely consistent teaching, no matter where in the nation, or in the world, you may find yourself. In addition, Christ’s Church carries with it His delegation of earthly authority, through the protection and guidance of the Spirit of God. And so, only ONE church measures up to this criteria. Others do contain some partial truths, but the reality is that only one is Christ’s fullness.

God Bless
The problem with that theology is that it ignores that the body of Christ is one heart and one person at a time. It also ignores the fact that God is not a respecter of persons, much less an institution that claims to speak for Him.

**Just as I thought, no mention of the Word.

Let me give you some words of wisdom to think about for your own sake.

"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 "These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 "You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.

“Will you not receive instruction by listening to My words?” declares the LORD.

"Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 “But the one who has heard and has not acted {accordingly,} is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.

So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, For I trust in Your word.

Do you now believe in the importance that God places on His word and how important it is to know His word and to live His word? Christians are always at varying levels of understanding and growth, but growing comes from putting forth effort.**
i think you forgot the other verse that says. “whatever you do to the least of these of mine, you do it to me.” since i know what Church is the Body of Christ, i can rest assure i am obeying Christ. how about you?

**You put your faith in an institution; that I don’t understand. You lack the basic understanding of Jesus church.

If you have a heart for God; realizing you have nothing to offer God because compared to Him you are dung, put your faith in Christ alone with a true heart of repentance and believe that God raised Him from the dead; you will be saved!**
yep. this verse comes to mind. and Jesus said to the Apostles: "whoever hears you hears me and my Father in Heaven, whoever rejects you, rejects me and the One who sent me.’ how do we continue to hear the Apostles today? through the Holy Church. One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.

another comes to mind. “Faith comes, it comes by hearing the Word of God.” that is what we do we hear the Word through the Holy Church.
why do you come here and say something that is not in the Bible. while you keep reading, we keep on hearing the Word. just like the Word said for us to do. how about you?

Really? And just how, precisely, does that theology ignore the uniqueness of each Christian’s journey in the faith? No Catholic claims to be at journey’s end, simply because they are members of Christ’s Body. It is a lifelong faith, tried and shaped by the indwelling of the Spirit of God within us all. As St. Paul says, we must persevere in the faith to the very end.

Not sure where you’re coming from with the “God is not a ‘respector’” idea, but I’m sure it all makes sense to you.

your answer will come when you come to the understanding of what a Covenant is. Jesus made a Covenant with His people which is His Church. dont kiddy yourself by continuing with the fantasy that you can pick up the Bible and ignore the fact that the Covenant of God with His Church can never be broken because somebody picked up a Bible. i think that God knew exactly what people would do if they put their hands in this Book. that is why He put in place a Church to be the authority here on earth. a city on the hill. only a person with severe spiritual defect cannot see the Spiritual power and authority of the CC in this earth.
**The covenant are with the people He has “called”, the “called” are the true church. Are all Catholics “called”; what further proof do you need?

For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were {committed} under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. **

that is what happens when people get a hold of the Holy Book without the Holy Church. you seem so confused to me.
and i am not kidding.

the Holy Book is the written instructions for the people within the Holy Church. if you use it without the Holy Church, you fall into confusion. you keep bring out verses which you have no idea what is it that you trying to accomplish. believe me it is doing nothing for you here.

read this.

**But the time will come", Isaiah said, “that the house of the Lord would be established higher and stronger than any other kingdom and all the nations shall flow to it.” **

What makes you believe you are a Christian?

I just thought I would interject that, while I know this thread is moving pretty quickly and some things can be overlooked, I find most interesting the questions and points that seeking12 chooses NOT to address. In many ways it is far more revealing of his position than the points he does.

Let us keep evangelizing in Christian Charity folks.

Peace
James
I agree

What makes you believe you are a Christian?
what exactly is it that you do for our Lord Jesus, the Christ? i have been asking you but got no response. i will continue to wait.

**“I should not believe the Gospel except as moved by the authority of the Catholic Church.”
Saint Augustine (354-430), Against the Letter of Mani, 5,6, 397 A.D… **

The Original Version.

An amazing question to ask… somewhat contrary to Matt. 7 isn’t it? How’s the beam in that eye?
**What is so amazing about a question that Peter, told believers to be ready to give an answer of the Hope that is in us?

1 Peter 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always {being} ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

The beam in the eye thing is a common statement used by many who have little knowledge of God’s word; I encourage you to be faithful and diligent in the reading and understanding of God’s word, for there you will know Him.**

I probably won’t be on much today but I wanted to ask Seeking12 a couple of questions.
  1. Do you consider Catholics to be Christians?
  2. Touching on the “Tell it To The Church” idea, If a case of doctrine that you considered fundamental came before your congregation and the vote went against you, what would you do? Would you submit to the majority?

**Almost everything I do is for the Lord. Loving my wife, teaching my children the way of the Lord, being obedient to those in authority over me, feeding and clothing the hungry and poor, visiting the sick, praying without ceasing, loving my neighbor, sharing the gospel, diligence in reading the Word, suffering for His name sake. I still have a long way to grow, but that is one of the great things about God; there is so much richness in His glory that we literally spend a lifetime in discovery and never run into the end.

Now I go back to my question; what makes you believe you are a Christian?**

I would like a clarification on the highlighted part.
may I ask who are those in authroity over you?

Excuse me for a while - I must go to morning mass and communion.
It’s Ash wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten Season.
Praise God.
