SDAs don’t celebrate Valentines Day. They don’t wear wedding rings.
Carl, St. Michael is an Archangel.Who is St.Michael?

The Bible says that the prayers of a righteous man have great power in their effects. Those already in heaven are much more righteous than we are - they no longer have the stain of sin on them. Please know that Catholics do not pray to saints instead of Jesus, we just “pray to” them in the same way you would ask anyone to pray for you. And, why do you think that it has more effect to have a saint bear your prayers to the Father…

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting.SDAs don’t celebrate Valentines Day. They don’t wear wedding rings.
no, of course not… I believe that heaven is full of Gods creations. Not so many humans though, but i believe there are a couple of hundred, remember the people that was raised from the grave when Jesus rose from the dead? those and the obvius ascentions that we can read about in the bible, i believe are in heaven, but i still absolutely not believe or think that we should pray for their intersession, not under any circomstances… I rely on Christ only for my salvation, not humans, weather they be dead or not… No offence meant to anyome. You believe Heaven is empty?
I am married yes, but we did not have a traditional church wedding… I got married at “raadhuset” as we call it… It was just a matter of having a paper that said we were married… I wear a ring, yes… My wife does not. The reason for wearing the ring is plainly that if i don’t, other girls don’t know that i am married, and may try to make a move… not that it has ever happened…If you are married, I hope you did not put wedding bands on each others hands during the marriage ceremony? Wedding Ring is a pagan adaptation. The Wedding thing is nearly 90% pagan adaptation.
The Kiss at the end of the Wedding Ceremony is derived from when thos that got married had to copulate in front of the entire assembly in order to validate the marriage.
I can keep going. Do you want to hear more?
The baptisms that the pagans did was not total submergion (was that the right word?). The baptism that seven days adventists have is being totally submerged, as a symbol of being buried with Christ, and rising up again to a new life in Christ. This is the way the apostles did it, and Jesus approved of this method. But they do Baptize with water? Right? Isn’t that a pagan adaptation as well that God adopted?
Frankly, i don’t think they care. The valentines day is not much regarded at all, by everyone… The last years there has been an increase, but that’s mainly from the merchants who wants to sell stuff to make money, so it is more like a commercial thing, and not religious…hmmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting.
I wonder how their women feel about this. Especially those that work with non-SDAs.
Why didn’t Jesus tell us that we could pray to archangels, and saints for their intersession? Why is this absent from scripture, unless if it wasn’t supposed to be like this? Why would Jesus seek to not tell us things that could be of help?Carl, St. Michael is an Archangel.
The main problem here in this discussion is not whether it is right or wrong to ask people to pray for us, but whether or not people go to hell/purgatory/heaven straight after death. The Bible says that the prayers of a righteous man have great power in their effects. I don’t watch tv at all on the sabbath day, and i couldn’t care less about football anyways… pro sports is booooring…I guess SDAs can’t be a college football fan or a fan of any sport that plays regularly on Saturday.
Have no problem in agreeing with you here…Since SDAs are hyperliteralist about the 10 commandments. Playing sports on Saturday really can’t constitute keeping the Sabbath holy. Since Pro Sports is “WORKING”.
Absolutely correct, as long as it means that someone has to go to their regular job to feed me, as in a resturant for instance. I don’t want anyone to work for me on the sabbath day…I can’t imagine a true SDA going out to eat on a Saturday either since that would constitute contributing to the sin of not keeping the sabbath holy.
Surprinsingly relaxing. I try to read early at sabbath, and when the clock nears 10:00 after a good nights sleep, then i go to church. And after church i like to visit or invite people to join for food…So what is your day like on a Saturday?
I’m in norway…You’re not in America?
Germany or something close to it?
First of all there are many things Jesus said and did that are not recorded in the Bible. There’s a verse at the end of one of the Gospels indicating this. Not to mention that angels DID appear to Jesus and ‘comfort him’ while he was praying in Gethsemane prior to his passion. You think he didn’t talk to them or pray to them? It’s certainly a strong possibility. Why didn’t Jesus tell us that we could pray to archangels, and saints for their intersession? A couple of questions i have conserning Mary’s place.
What is this;
“St. Bernadine of Sienna does not hesitate to say that all obey the commands of Mary, even God himself” (glories of Mary, 202)
“And therefore, says St. Peter Damian, the Virgin has all power in heaven as on earth” (Glories of Mary, 201)
“She possesses, by right, the whole kingdom of her son” (Glories of Mary, 280)
Mary has most certainly aquired a prominent position i heaven since even God himself obeys the commands of Mary…?

Secondly all those quotes are from individual saints. Holy and knowledgeable as these men may have been, they don’t speak for the whole Church or even its whole leadership.
If you want a truer picture of what the Church as a whole teaches, read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, or the shorter Compendium of the Catechism.
No offense CET, but your showing your typical SDA mentality by quoting people that do not speak for the One True Church. If you really want to know what the RCC teaches, buy a copy of the CCC mentioned above in the quote. If you feel it is waste of money, then PM me with an address and I will mail one to you FREE OF CHARGE.Secondly those quotes are from individual saints. Of course this isn’t on the topic (perhaps you’d like to start a thread on Baptismal practices?), but immersion in the Ganges River (both of living Hindus and the ashes of their dead) to obtain forgiveness of their sin and as a help to salvation is a main aspect of Hindu religious practice. The baptisms that the pagans did was not total submergion (was that the right word?). The sprinkling of water on the head is the pagan version, witch also you do, i presume… I’ve seen old mosaics in Sardes in Israel. In an old roman building that pictures a child being baptised by sprinkling of water.

Very nice to offer a free CCC, but i don’t need it… I have one allready. I can also dig up stuff there to confront you with… The reason i “dig up” quotes, is that i really want a rational explanation on them, not just to put anyone in an ackuard situation. I’m just curious on how you see these things…No offense CET, but your showing your typical SDA mentality by quoting people that do not speak for the One True Church. I have tackled this question before from Bob Ryan who is another SDA over at BaptistBoard.com.
He continues to launch attacks with quotes from prominent Catholics and Popes. So don’t waste your time and our time by digging up quotes and writings from individuals. You have my permission to attack from the CCC if you wish.
Good day and God Bless.
PFFFT!I thought it was only americans who celebrated valentines day before.![]()
