(CNN)A group of health and medical colleagues has penned an open letter to express their concern that protests around the United States could be shut down under the guise of coronavirus health concerns.

The letter – which went on to draw more than 1,200 signatures – focuses on techniques to reduce harm to people protesting racial injustice.

“We created the letter in response to emerging narratives that seemed to malign demonstrations as risky for the public health because of Covid-19,” according to the letter writers, many of whom are part of the University of Washington’s Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“Instead, we wanted to present a narrative that prioritizes opposition to racism as vital to the public health, including the epidemic response. We believe that the way forward is not to suppress protests in the name of public health but to respond to protesters demands in the name of public health, thereby addressing multiple public health crises.”

What a joke. Shutdown our businesses and livelihoods and force people into unemployment - no problem. COVID is that serious. Just not THAT serious, because protests are worth it! They must have dropped their letter from the ivory tower and watched it flutter to the ground.

Seriously, if medical professionals are to be trusted, this kind of nonsense kills any faith the public can have in them. They are talking out of both sides of their mouth.

Sure they are… Partisans is more like it.

Do they honestly think anyone is taking their letter seriously?

I’d probably just seek medical advice from medical experts. On social issues, they’re no more qualified to opine than the random Joe.

That said, is liberty and equality more important than someone’s job? Who’s to say?

The Soviets, for example, were more interested in keeping everyone employed than keeping them free…

Is the threat of COVID more important that someone’s livelihood, or social justice? Apparently these guys don’t mind making that call for all of us. Very big of them.

It was the biggest news story and most consequential policy decision of our lifetime. The lockdowns destroyed potentially 53% of our GDP, paralyzed our health care system, shut down our education system, and induced a physical and mental health crisis along with a social, economic, and labor catastrophe that we still can’t begin to conceptualize. Yet we were told it was absolutely necessary for our survival because of the most dangerous virus ever that required these actions to some degree.

To this day schools are closed and businesses are driving themselves crazy trying to comply with nearly impossible restrictions. Weddings are still canceled in many of these cities, and funerals were only being conducted graveside in some states. We are walking in the heat with masks to stores.

Yet somehow, when you have thousands of protesters on top of each other in every major city or gathering in a church in D.C. to set it on fire rather than pray in it, there is no longer a concern of mass spread of this super-deadly pandemic of the millennium?

They have allowed them to break curfews and gather in the thousands on top of each other. Politicians have even joined in with them, and there have been group hugging and kneeling sessions with the police.

A new serology test shows that even in New York City, the implied infection fatality rate was only 0.3%.

Not only was the fatality rate exaggerated because it mainly killed those in nursing homes, but the rate of transmissibility was also overstated because it was mainly transferred in hospitals and nursing homes. According to the British government, “The overall reproduction number, R, is in the range 0.5 to 0.9.

It has now become clear that no matter what a state or country has done in terms of opening up their society, it has no bearing on the rate of hospitalizations and deaths. ABC News looked at the 21 states that eased restrictions on May 4 or earlier and found “no major increases in hospitalizations, deaths or % of people testing positive in any of the 21 states.” Also, the reopening of schools in 22 countries has not led to any increases in deaths or infections among students and staff.

Thus, the lockdown scam is over. Feel free to enter a church; just bring a match instead of a prayer book. Feel free to enter a store, just bring a mask; or a brick. After all, it’s the symbolism and what’s in your heart that counts. Science and law be damned.

No kidding.

I despise when ppl tell me what to do. Primary reason I’m a liberal.

I generally share the same yearning for self-determination, which is why I am a conservative 🙂 Have a good night.

Liberalism is about being free.

Conservatism is about being orthodox.

See the difference?

Not ones to be made by “medical professionals.”

Technically, everything is a value judgement. Some believe narcotics and pornography are more important than food or education, and spend their money as such.

For most normal humans, what we did in the spring to the economy was unprecedented, and the medical community’s actions and words told us this is the most serious threat we have faced in 100 years. We have never taken the steps as a nation that we did. Ever.

Then suddenly, weeks later, voices from the same community said “hey, you’re never gonna believe this! We have something that has come along that is even more serious than the last “most serious thing ever” thing. Can you believe it?”

Based on the reccomendations of experts, in the last 100 or so years, the two most serious events occurred in a span of months. What are the odds?? So now we know, Social Justice protests > COVID management > earning a living/running a business/maintaining your life’s work.

Ironically, when I started a topic on the death and mental health issues that were predicted to result from the economic shutdown and its impacts, not too many on the stay at home" side seemed to care. I can only assume they don’t much care for the protests then either, or the opinions of these medical “professionals” who are clearly just partisan hacks with an agenda.

I have no complaint with 1,200 medical professionals arguing that tens of thousands of people should be able to get together to responsibly recognise, discuss and meditate on the death of George Floyd.

I would just ask how many argued that groups of just 50 people could get together to responsibly recognise, discuss and meditate on the death of Jesus the Christ at Easter?

The state religion is political correctness. This is the line that rules over and divides us.

I will not respond to activists posting in bad faith.

My complaint is that I suspect these 1200 would have said you were fool to consider such an idea. COVID avoidance trumps Easter meditations any day. When the person making a value judgement has no values, you have a problem.

Well, the protests have been going on over a week.

Covid19 has a 2-day to 2-week incubation period.

Literally all we have to do is sit back, track the new cases and wait.

Of course, if the New Covid19 cases don’t surge, then there’s no need to continue social distancing.

That wraps up nicely, I think.

These questions are come down to value judgements, no?
Nailed it.
