Tolerance training? They mean re-education so they can be indoctrinated into liberal relativism and other claptrap.
There is more…(sounds like boy has sex-identity issues )
When I asked what was wrong with his makeup," his mother, Jamie Himes said, "the face the principal gave me made my blood boil…
In addition to training, the petition encourages schools to teach LGBT history and host Gay-Straight Alliance clubs.
“Schools need to be a safe place, and kids need to know they won’t encounter intolerance there,” Himes said. “It’s not about our son anymore, it’s about intolerance.”

unless this was “dress like an 80s band” day, this boy should NOT HAVE BEEN wearing MAKEUP!
I was in High School in the 80’s and boys never wore makeup. So if anyone thought that what guys wore in the 80’s didn’t do enough costume research. 😛

The government dictating whether or not people can wear make up is tyranny
This is a very serious issue yet you seemed to believe that any government intrusion into anything even a dress code for students is wrong. There are many things girls wear that boys don’t usually wear.

It is not tyranny to require a dress code.

How is makeup a serious issue? I would agree the agenda that the parents seemed to have that goes beyond the boy wearing makeup is a serious issue. They could push that regardless. But makeup on a boy isn’t that serious.

Demanding re-education is serious.

Which I addressed in my comment by mentioning the parent’s agenda.
Well, the school made a good and reasonable request. In this day and age that is a minor miracle. The “parents” are an example of what is to come. The push is on and I expect more of this.

Well, in this age of tolerance, perhaps the schools should let the boys wear all the makeup they want. They should also assign a resource officer to follow each boy through the school day and on his way home to prevent any bullying.

Howabout severe punishment for ANY bullying period! If my father got wind of any of his kids bullying anyone its was beating time.

The fact that he’s been raised by two women might have something to do with his wanting to wear make up. Maybe he’s never had a good male role model. It’s important for boys to have a man to look up to and to emulate. Children have minds like sponges and will soak up characteristics from whoever is close to them and is leading them.

Perhaps that has something to do with it. It’s not an ideal parental situation. The boy might have benefited from joining the Scouts, but that would likely have raised more controversy. Do the Scouts allow the boys to wear makeup?

What? Goth kids are goth kids. It doesn’t have anything to do with being girly. Since being “Gothic” became a popular teenager-thing, you will observe quite a few guys with black makeup and “scandalous” t-shirts. The whole point is to challenge conventional conformity to appearance stereotypes. So they paint themselves up as “tough” with dark makeup and dark clothes with radical messages. It’s a fad not affiliated with anything LGBT in my experience in high school.

Isn’t that what the school is doing? Forcing it’s ideology on the student?
No they are wanting the students to conform to school norms. The norms are not ideological. The norms are based in reason and common sense. The so called parents have the ideology.

The so called parents want the teachers re educated.
I agree that what the parents want is just as intrusive on freedom as the government bureaucrats dictating what people can or cannot wear.
