Nobody knows the hour. Our Lady did, though, show the children in Fatima where poor sinners were going because no one prayed for them. People, since Our Lady’s Appearance, have been praying more. Again, that was a vision. We do not know if those souls were actually in Hell at the time. Or that is where they were going. The super vast majority of mankind goes to hell, in comparison to who is saved. I know that you don’t like to hear this but it is true. Those that compromise the Catholic faith, to their liking don’t go to heaven. God has been merciful and charitable, He died on the Holy cross and established water baptism as the gateway to His church but there are conditions, as members, that have to be met in order to maintain sanctifying grace and that is obedience to the rule. God is not a liar like man, He will do what He says, He will condemned those who do not obey.
If anything, from the Old Testament to the New Testament, visions have always provided seeing something ahead of time for Conversion. So people may change their hearts and minds. And, “avoid Hell” (G.K. Chesterton.)
Thus, we do not know the number of souls in hell. And to be honest, does one think God is going to have us spend our time in His love thinking about Hell? And how many people are there? I’d say no.
Hell is a choice. God isn’t going to let people choose Hell unjustly. If people choose Hell, then it has to be the same state Adam and Eve were whence they chose to eat the tree of good and evil (I.e. the knowledge of what is right and wrong outside of God’s love/Covenant relationship - or the school of hard knocks.) He told them they will die, if they eat it. And they did. With that, they lost their state of grace.
God will render judgement to each and every soul according to each and of their deeds. And their choices will be whether they chose Hell or not. He will give them what they want. For Jesus gave the goats what they wanted. And the sheep He gave them the glory of His love and fidelity.
For whatever you do to the least, you’ve done to/for me.
If we don’t have love (i.e. the First Two Greatest Commandments), then we cannot enter Heaven through the eye of the needle. For that means humility. And, as it was with the Serpent and Angel’s who rebelled, out of pride and arrogance (the greatest of all sins - non-serviam.)
Note: Knowing this was Paul’s quote mentioned in your reply. Just trying to help elevate the facts that we do not know the time/hour. And we don’t know how many souls are in hell.
