Quoting my last post (#100)
Our parish is holding a mini-retreat next Sunday, March 4. It was announced in today’s bulletin, Feb. 25, that Sr. Joan Chittister would be speaking on video. She is an advocate of women priests, a well-known dissenter, writes for the Nat’l Catholic Reporter. I am NOT pleased that this would be allowed in our parish and am afraid our pastor has caved in to pressure from our pastoral associates, one a nun and the other a lay woman with a degree in theology. I’m very much against these things infiltrating our historically orthodox parish.
Code:
I've found out that Sr. Joan will not be speaking about women's ordination, however I do not want people to be mislead that everything she's written is good for faithful Catholics.

I'm going to preview the video that will be shown tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

Start a new thread-good idea.

Get the quotes from the Catechism, and encyclicals - with the Magisterium as author (when applicable) -and get contrary quotes from websites of Sr. Joan. ( www.romancatholicblog.com has a recent one).

Put them both on a one page handout, go to the event, and - give them out to the people entering the hall.

If the priest or pastor asks you to stop - tell him if HE won’t defend the true faith somebody has to, and wait for him to get the police there. You will attract attention, but so did the apostles!

You may want to call an orthodox Catholic newspaper (National Catholic Register/New Oxford Review, The Lay Catholic Mission, before hand - so you’ll have some witnesses. Be sure to bring a few friends, for the same reason.

God bless,
Angel

Thank you, Angels Watchin,

I viewed the video and was not impressed, except in a negative way. I was asked my opinion and gave it and (hallelujah) was considered seriously. I said I would not attend the retreat if this speech by a notorious dissenter was shown.

I later (today actually) emailed a detailed critique (which wasn’t difficult). I do credit the Holy Spirit for helping me through this; I said a rosary before going to the viewing, and continue to pray for guidance. And I’d been to confession recently, too, so I’m sure that helped.

I was told it was too late to change the video, but I remembered I’d donated a video featuring Mary Jo Anderson speaking about the dangers of CEDAW; she’s been on EWTN, an excellent speaker and writer, and orthodox.

I gave many links for suggestions for future showings, such as Kimberly or Scott Hahn. I will also give them a book I’m reading What Will Happen to God? by Wm Oddie about the influence of radical feminism over the last 25 yrs or so. It’s eye-opening.

So I guess the crisis has passed, but I haven’t heard from Fr. as yet. I’m hoping he will assert his authority and have them change the video to the one I suggested or provide another.

I checked out the link to CRCOA .
Sounds like a great organization.
