DavidFilmer,
re: “This eliminates the baggage of folks being frustrated by asking and not receiving responses to issues raised in early posts (because the new poster didn’t notice that the post he is quoting was made a year ago).”

There are 913 pages of topics going back to 2004. At least 850 of those pages have been inactive for the last 12 months.
That’s an interesting bit of research.
If it is the desire of the moderator that those inactive topics on those pages not be responded to, why haven’t they been locked?
I don’t know. CAF is based on a V-Bulletin system, which offers moderators the option to auto-expire (and lock) dormant threads after a specified interval of inactivity. I occasionally participate in other V-Bulletin systems in which this feature is enabled.

I suspect that our Moderator, Michael Francis, is an “old school” guy who remembers when usenet groups were typically first moderated by other posters. Offending members of the news list could be “BoZo’d” by list regulars, and would thus be ignored (and not even seen - news readers would ignore their posts). For almost three decades, this system worked fairly well. Maybe Michael Francis expects that this system could continue to work well on this Forum, and has not enabled some of the more strict rules of V-Bulletin.

Alas, usenet is rapidly fading into history, replaced by fancy vBulletin forums accessed through web browsers instead of newsreaders. While offering many advantages, such forums typically lack a Bozo filter. I daresay that, if modern forums offered a Bozo filter, some of our Forum participants would be routinely ignored. You would probably find yourself on several of these filters. You would certainly be on mine.

I don,t know why me make things so complicated by overly trying to explain things.
  • Friday: The first day, our Lord died.
  • Saturday: The second day, our Lord let everyone who was “dead” the good news.
  • Sunday, The third day, resurrection.
Peace.

Post from David Filmore - “I suggest that participants refrain from further participation in this two-year-old+ thread. If rstrats (or anybody else) wants to reopen this topic to discuss a particular point, I recommend that s/he open a new thread, per Forum guidelines.”

I’d like to respond to some posts, but since it’s against Forum guidelines, I’ll cease and desist.

There’s an ‘ignore’ feature here. Everyone is free to use it to ignore others’ posts, as they see fit.

Click on a user’s name to go to their profile. Click on the ‘user lists’ pull-down. Select “ignore list”. 😉

Wow, that’s great. It certainly improves the signal-to-noise ratio.

I’ve just Bozo’d a certain user, and now this thread shows posts by this user, but they have no noisy text - only a message that I have Bozo’d the user (and an offer to un-Bozo the guy, which holds little temptation for me).

This ought to be a sticky post in this Forum! I’ve been here for YEARS and I never knew about the Bozo filter! Usenet lives on!

Can someone tell me who said this

From that moment wherein he broke his body for his disciples and gave his body to the apostles three days are computed wherein he was accounted with the dead.

Or this

From the time when he gave his body in food and his blood in drink three days and three nights elapsed.
