Hmm, red wine for me.

At a wine tasting I once had a 2013 ‘Prunotto’ (? my notes are unfortunately unclear) Barbera D’Alba, that I wrote down as my favourite thing and wanted to try again.

Months later I found something labeled at least close… but didn’t like it. 😭

… I still want to try again.

I wrote down that the scent reminded me of cranberries and cream cheese so maybe that’s something to try with it. Or maybe I’d just tasted too many wines at that point. I did write down that the next wine reminded me of frogs, so that’s possible.

Apart from that, an after-dinner Bailey’s in coffee will either make me really happy… or feel sick. It’s a coin toss.

In the rare instance I have a drink, it would whiskey, like a Jack and Coke. But very rarely do I ever drink, it has been 4 years now since I had one at a wedding.

My husband will have beer on the weekends. Interesting fact about beer, the hops in beer contain phytoestrogens, or plant estrogen. Too much beer effects men the same way taking estrogen would, like growing breast tissue.

Also, I read hops in beer was something pioneered by protestants in hopes to curb men’s sexual appetites by upping their estrogen levels and thus decreasing their testosterone levels. What I read was beer used to be made of lots of other things besides hops. I’d have to find the link again to see if any of that is worth believing.

I’ve never heard that! That’s a strange factoid if it’s true. Especially strange to me considering that stereotypically, men are more associated with beer than women are.

Certainly when I go out with folks, the women usually order a fruit-based alcohol, while the men tend to order beer.

Not doubting you individually but I might personally abstain from locking in a belief about this unless and until I see the scientific studies, haha. As you say, you saw it online somewhere…?

I’m certain the phytoestrogens in hops is true, not certain protestants are the ones behind it in beer.

Soy is also another food not good for men for the same reason.

Yeah, the soy I’d heard about. Actually even as a woman I avoid soy because of risks associated with ovarian cysts etc.

Too much estrogen is no more good for women than it is for men.

Not much chatting going on here!

What are your favorite podcasts?

Right now my favorite catholic podcasts are the Patrick Coffin show and Catholic Answers. My favorite secular podcasts are Tim Pool and Steven Crowder.

I hope you become a grandmother! Do you have sons or daughters who are millennials?

I was born in ‘91 so I am for sure a millennial! Old enough to remember cassette tapes, VHS, and Radio Disney. 😂

I’m 29. I’m single and I work as a university advisor. Also been using the thread more since COVID. I started a thread back in April about whether it would be morally questionable for me to stay single for the rest of my life even though it’s not a “Big V vocation.” Oh my it started some debates!

I spend most of my time outside of work volunteering in the Church or exercising. Hobbies include hiking, biking, and playing guitar.

At the moment I’m sitting at home watching The Chosen 😊. I know, controversial because it’s not necessarily what was said in scripture but I’m enjoying it.

We are the same age!

I watched the first episode of the Chosen because it was free. I wanted to subscribe but someone on this forum said the director or father of the director wrote extensively on “the rapture”, and that the series likely wouldn’t be very historically accurate. How has the rest of the series been? What episode are they up to now?

Matt Walsh is very entertaining! I am a “sour” person by nature, I can’t think of the right description, pragmatic and grumpy? So I don’t listen to him as often as I’d like. I appreciate his humor and wit, my husband does not like that attitude.

Are there any millennials with kids? I don’t think anyone has mentioned they have kids.

Anyone…Hello…Alone here on toddler and baby island… 🏝️

Do you have a pet?

If not what pet would you like to have?

We currently have a lab we rescued from the SPCA. Named after my husband’s private student loan company. Anyone want to guess the name? 🤨

Before we got our house we had a cat I rescued. That cat lived so long, she was almost 30 when she died. I rescued her when she was in her early 20’s, thinking she’d have a couple of good years with us, and then she ended up living 5 more years.

A dry sense of humour ?
(I feel like an intruder reading the thread 🙂) I’m a young granny,so I’ll disappear into thin air again…☁️

I don’t have kids yet but want to someday!

Most of my millennial friends are single without kids. I think it’s pretty common in the states with people settling down later and such.

Clerically Speaking, The Crunch, Among the Lilies are my favorite Catholic ones.

The Minimalists and The Rachel Cruze Show are my favorite secular ones.

1991 was a good year to be born 😀

The Chosen is completely free on Youtube now, so you don’t need to subscribe.

I am only on episode 5.

No, the show may not be historically accurate (Saint Peter’s wife, for instance, is a main character when in scripture we don’t know much about her) . I don’t think historical accuracy is the point of the show-I get the impression the director wants to use emotional appeal to reveal the person of Jesus Christ through the eyes of those who met him. It has worked for me! I just about cried in the first episode when he called Mary Magdalene by her name.
