So I assume you don’t eat pork then and you don’t wear clothing of mixed fabric, right? Oh and when was the last time you made a sacrificial offering at the Holy Temple?
eveywhere i look i see: selfishness, apathy toward the sufferings of others, vanity, greed, sexual impurity, treating people like sex objects, using & abusing others, and i could go on and on… I frankly don’t see many people living for the Lord… who have HIM as the center of their lives… True, i don’t know many people… but hey, that’s one reason i DONT know many people… i stay away from peple cuz most of them are EVIL… once you get to know them… True, i have been in some really bad situations that have scarred me…made me cynical and wary… but still…i haven’t found many “angels” in the world… meaning those who love Jesus a whole lot…

I think one of the issue when people start talking about Scrupulous is people confuse:

A) The difference between a ‘senstive’, but well-formed, conscience and a Scrupulous conscience
B) The difference between how scruple/scrupulous are used in the secular sense and how scruple/scrupulous/Scrupulosity are used in the Catholic sense

Technically, the term “scrupulous” is grammatically (logically) incorrect.

We should all be scrupulous. The word just means: To be conscientious about what you are doing…

the proper term for someone who is overly worried or concerned about every little thing he does or says and how it may be terribly sinful when in actuality it is not… would be OVERLY Scrupulous…

You are confusing how the word is used in common parlance with how the word is used in the Catholic sense.

Sorry this reply is off topic!

Thank you. I have only started going to confession again so was not sure. However, unfortunately I have only seen at maximum two other people going to confession before me and when I come out there is no-one else- if I arrive early or late. So if it is quiet, would the priest mind then? If you think he will, I’ll ask him for an appointment. I need to get my green scapular blessed anyway.

Make an appointment with the Priest outside of Confession. Confession is NOT a counseling session (although some Priests may provide in-depth counsel to Penitents, Confession is not meant to be a counseling/Spiritual Direction) session.

EDIT: Also, remember that one never knows how many other people may enter the Confession line while you’re in there. I think I can remember times where I went into the Confessional and there were very few people around and I came out and there was a bit of a line).

people should be “working out their salvation with fear & trembling” not… not acting like this world is the end all to be all…
 
I believe it is a daily struggle to be saved. We must work hard at it, pray often and be good. But I have a hard time with this 5/33,000. God is all merciful and if we are sorry for our sins and repent then I believe God forgives and receives us to his Kingdom of Heaven after purgatory. I have a saying on my refridgerator that reads: "In our struggles, we can look closely at Jesus on the cross. As theologian Richard John Neuhaus says, ‘Look at him with whatever faith you have and know that your worry about your lack of faith is itself a sign of faith…Look at him. Keep looking, and faith will take care of itself.’ " That is an all loving God to me. Why, if God made us in His image, would He want to not let us be with Him in heaven. We are His children. We forgive our children, but want them to repent for their sins commited to us. We still accept them home.

This is just my two cents.

as St Faustina said, even the slightest fault of ours must be purged. What seems slight and small to us is NOT to God… and that’s probably why so few make it and find that narrow road that leads to etneral life… the one Jesus said not many find (St Mt 7:13, 21)People rationalize the things they do wrong… and therefore begin to see no wrong in them… and then when they have blinded themselves to those wrongs, its so much easier to do that with the next wrong they do… and so on and so on until… well, until they turn into virtual demons… I think a lot of people I know or have been around are at tht stage… That may sound extreme… & you may not agree… but … well, people who are sold out to the devil don’t go around LOOKING like demons (whtever they may look like:shrug:)… but of course, they wouldn’t… stands to reason, because they want to get by in this world so they smile and act like they are good people when they are not… So… goodness is relative… People think such people as… well, say Billy Graham… are “good” people… and for all i know he is… He certainly has done good things… but i can’t help but wonder why he has not at least investigated the Catholic Church by now… :confused:I think he’s 93 yrs old or something… seems strange that someone like him hasn’t done that… someone who is into Jesus and the Word… just some thoughts, not trying to say anything bad about B Graham… i generally like the guy… and he’s brought a lot of people to Christ… The only problem is, have those poeple STAYED with Jesus? i never had any staying power, myself, until i went back to the Catholic Church…

Its just as wrong to judge someone as being “good” and worthy of heaven (when only God knows) as it is to judge someone as bad and worthy of Hell…

when i was young i naively thought that all humans were basically good… but i am not young anymore… have been through some horrendous things… and have SEEN horrendous things… READ horrendous things (book on Hitler… bk on Capone… bk on Ted Bundy… Yikes…then I have seen photos of aborted babies…) :(:mad: A lot of people listen to the devil… and the more they listen, the more they become like him…

I’m sure that more than 5/33,000 people die in a state of grace. Priests visit those who are dying.

I just realised how relevant my signature is: " before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy".
