So when someone speaks of the 12 year deadline in terms to indicate it is a falsehood and needlessly alarming, you are thinking they mean this source instead of the AOC quote? It is this:

There is no political dimension. It is solely a question of science.Actually Leaf, I was just thinking that about your responses.
If you admit wrong predictions are an “issue”, you lose the political dimension.
Oh, they would be an issue - if they were wrong. But they’re not. At least not to the extent you represent. So your guys just keep insisting guys like me are not talking about the “issues”, when wrong prophecies ARE AN ISSUE!
Those investments don’t go to scientists. They go to companies and the people who run them. I don’t think there are many climate scientists who also run solar or wind energy companies.Tell that to the Wall Street Big green investors how they lack influence.Big Oil is very very rich. Scientists are poor. Big Oil has the power to exert influence. Scientists don’t.
I don’t believe any political guys. Not your guys. Not my guys.Besides. If all your political guys are in the hip pockets of big oil, then WHY believe them?
The amount of subsidies they got would not even pay for the advertising budget of big oil.Even failing Solyndra made off with a bucket-load of tax payer money before they went belly-up.
No, not really. There was no way of knowing ahead of time they were going to fail. They had to have some serious lobbying influence to pull that debacle off.
I’ll talk about the Green New Deal, but not about the people who support it.What about the other leftists who are on-board with her “Green New Deal”?
The response to a “climate emergency” is a separate topic from the question of whether there really is a climate emergency. I gather that this thread is about the latter. After all THEY are the ones who want to invent a whole new massive Government juggernaut based upon this BEING a climate emergency (the very topic of this thread).
They didn’t bring up any points. They just signed there names to a declaration of things they believed. Since they did not say why they believe those things, there is nothing to address. I thought the whole point of mentioning 500 scientists was an appeal to their authority. If that is the case, let’s see who they are and what authority they should be credited for. (Ambassadors have no scientific authority of their own.)These wrong global warming predictions and the points these scientists and their Ambassadors (some of which are scientists themselves) bring up points that need to be addressed.
I mentioned nothing about any program to address a climate emergency. This is proverbially MY hard-earned money you are talking about FORCING out of me at Government gun-point if I refuse to go along.
If there is any response to a climate crisis, it won’t flow to the IPCC.Whereas with you guys, you can all just send the IPCC checks without me.
Speaking for myself, and has to do with undue economic burden being placed upon people without a proven understanding of the facts. What is the aim of denying climate change?
Wall Street investors OWN big oil.The amount of subsidies they got would not even pay for the advertising budget of big oil.
Was it hyperbole? The prophesy, as you call it, was hyperbolically and unscientifically represented by AOC
Irrelevant.Just like Trump sounded serious…
Evidence of this is lacking.. Of course AOC was making a political speech to rally the troops. Of course it was hyperbole.
You can believe what you want. I don’t really care, since this is not a thread about AOC at all.LeafByNiggle:![]()

But I am sure you will have no problem posting it.
You do have a source for this…right?
This is a thread about the fact that “There is No Climate Emergency”.since this is not a thread about AOC at all.
LeafByNiggle . . .
You mean the claim, not the fact.since this is not a thread about AOC at all.
No. When deciding on what the scientific facts are, one should go to the best sources, not the worst ones.Anyone who says there is a climate emergency, is appropriate to discuss (along with their alarmist claims). Especially when they are helping make policy decisions.
If this were a thread about policies it would be very appropriate to discuss AOC.
After all, it is very unfair to quote her when it doesn’t support the cause. If this were a thread about policies it would be very appropriate to discuss AOC.
I don’t quote her when it does support the cause either. That would be just silly if I did that.LeafByNiggle:![]()

Except when it concerns “uncertainties amd exaggerations”.If this were a thread about policies it would be very appropriate to discuss AOC.
LeafByNiggle . . . .
This is a claim about scientists, not about first term Congress members. (And its a false claim besides.)If this were a thread about policies it would be very appropriate to discuss AOC.
They aren’t the same exaggerations. The scientists are not responsible for AOC’s hyperbole.
- Scientists should openly address the uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, but ignore the issue if politicians like AOC are using their political platform to propagate these exaggerations.
Sure you can talk about it - in a thread that is about how politicians misrepresent science.
- There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm, but you are not allowed to tell anybody there is no cause for panic because Leaf says so. So if an influential politician DOES propagate such “panic and alarm”; remember . . . then you cannot talk about it.
You sure do try hard to avoid talking about scientific results and talk instead about a freshman member of Congress.
"Appropriate financial flows" = money from me. And you. And etc.The Paris Agreement central aim is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the agreement aims to strengthen the ability of countries to deal with the impacts of climate change. To reach these ambitious goals, appropriate financial flows . . .
Is policy.the ability of countries to deal with the impacts of climate change.
No I don’t.You sure do try hard to avoid talking about scientific results . .
.Sen. Bernie Sanders put a version of it front and center of his presidential campaign last week, saying we now have “less than 11 years left to transform our energy system away from fossil fuels to energy efficiency and sustainable energy, if we are going to leave this planet healthy and habitable.”
According to YOUR science guys . . .we now have “less than 11 years left . . . if we are going to leave this planet healthy and habitable.” – Bernie Sanders
You are MAKING their point by your evasive replies.Maximus1 . . . What do they call paying 500 scientists to write a pro fossil fuel report denying climate change. For the fossil fuel industry, they call it A DROP IN THE BUCKET Why not deal with the issues they raised Maximus1? Your post is a microcosmic tacit testimony to what I have said would occur to these scientists if they openly state this. Personal attacks to that community of scientists (and their Ambassadors for that matter as we have seen right here too). The arguments are the…
