I think you’ve misunderstood, the fatwa I linked to wasn’t attacking the Bible at all, it was just showing that it also uses figurative language to describe things, so there’s no need to call Muhammad a fool for doing so (i.e. never Muhammad or the Bible are foolish, they just spoke in hyperboles).
No one denies people use figurative language. However even your own site suggests that Satan can get into the body. It is thus suggesting that this is literal.

What you have here is an attempt at deflection.

Muhammad makes an absurd and literal claim

A Moslem apologist talks ‘in general’ about how people use figurative language. We are then to suppose from this generalisation that Muhammad was doing so too, but it’s undermined by their own argument where they say Satan really does get under your skin.
And if anyone does wish to insist of a literal interpretation, then they’ll have to explain how Satan could be simultaneously up millions of people’s noses.
He’s very powerful.
I’ve never been able to grasp how this myth that a dog or a woman passing in front of someone praying nullifies their prayer has gotten so widespread. The only place I can imagine this to come from is a Hadith when some people said this to 'Aisha, to which she said that wasn’t true, in fact the Prophet often used to pray when she was lying in her bed in front of him. Considering this actually says the exact opposite, I remain baffled.
Dogs and women (and sometimes horses) are seen as evil omens by Moslems.
Volume 7, Book 62, Number 30:

Narrated Abdullah bin 'Umar:

Allah’s Apostle said, "Evil omen is in the women, the house and the horse.’

zawaj.com/articles/sahihbukhari.html

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 31:

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

Evil omen was mentioned before the Prophet: The Prophet said, “If there is evil omen in anything, it is in the house, the woman and the horse.”

(Ibid)

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 32:

Narrated Sahl bin Sad:

Allah’s Apostle said, “If at all there is bad omen, it is in the horse, the woman, and the house.”

(Ibid)

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 33:

Narrated Usama bin Zaid:

The Prophet said, “After me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women.”

(Ibid)

I think maybe Muhammad hated his followers yawning during his interminable sermons.

“Yaawwwn - Is this guy finished already? I’m so dying to raid some caravans, rape some female captives and kill some Jews.”

You know - that sort of thing.
😃

You’re welcome Digit. 🙂

se the purpose of it isn’t just to wash, it’s to strengthen one’s remembrance of God, so using earth doesn’t detract from that.
Earth is full of germs, so how could it wash anything? Would you “wash” your hands with earth and then cook a meal?
If someone is in solitary confinement then they would use the floor or the walls in the same way that one would use earth and their Salat wouldn’t be invalid in any way since that’s what they had to do.
Considering that the walls and floor would most definitely be covered with filth, how can that help anything? What a hard taskmaster your Allah is, when he has people scrounging around trying to 'keep their minds focused on him", while looking around for something to “wash” with, even if it’s filth, before he would be condescending enough to listen to their prayer!

I’ll repeat it again! A Christian can pray anytime, anywhere and does not even have to wash his hands! All that it takes is a sincere prayer coming from a humble heart.
There’s a common theme in Islam that says God does not burden any soul with more than they can carry.

Peace.
Yes, we have the same too, and that was 600 years before Muhammad came along!

And yet what you’ve stated before proves the opposite, that Islam burdens its followers with countless man-made rules passed off as God’s rules!

Early Christians did wash their hands before praying…But at least we could pray no matter what person or animal walks in front of us (unless that person is disturbing us on purpose) and whatever time we choose to. 😃

That’s a little harsh Rodrigo.

To answer pretty much all of your previous post Booklover: it is a **spiritual **wash, the purpose is not to physically clean oneself. Before going any further you need to understand this very simple point.

And as I’ve answered before, this is referring to something specific, Salat, not normal prayer. Muslims can pray at any time at any place without washing their hands too.

That might be but it’s still unhygienic. Muhammad did think earth is physically clean.

Sahih Bukhari Book 002, Number 0551:
Ibn Mughaffal reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) ordered killing of the dogs, and then said: What about them, i. e. about other dogs? and then granted concession (to keep) the dog for hunting and the dog for (the security) of the herd, and said: When the dog licks the utensil, wash it seven times, and rub it with earth the eighth time.

So after cleaning a pot that a dog had licked, the Muslim must then dirty it again by rubbing it with earth.

So when he recommends using urine, it’s just *spiritual *urine? 😛

If Muslims really want a spiritual wash, then they should stop preaching hatred and violence against Jews, Christians and all other unbelievers in the mosques! Otherwise it means nothing and what I said about the pharisees still applies!

I’m a cradle Catholic and I’ve never heard a priest preach anything derogatory about any other faith! We do not go to Mass to preach hatred, we go to worship God!

I’ve got some more:

Pork belching during the Voodoo, errr, woodoo.

Pork farts, naturally.

Drinking beer while doing ablution.

Eating pork rinds and beer before during and after woodoo.

Doing woopee, actual voodoo or hoodoo during the woodoo.

Rolling your eyes or making faces during the woodoo.

Making farty noises while kissing the ground during woodoo.

I’m sure I can think of maybe 700 more.

Hi

I agree with you. There should not be any hate speeches in the Mosques/Churches/Temples/Synagogues or otherwise. The problems should be discussed politely , respectfully and peacefully by both sides. I favour such a dialogue.

Quran

[41:31] As for those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah;’ and then remain steadfast, the angels descend on them, reassuring them: 'Fear not, nor grieve; and rejoice in the glad tidings of the Garden which you were promised;
[41:32] 'We are your friends in this life and in the Hereafter. Therein you will have all that your souls will desire, and therein you will have all that you will ask for -
[41:33] ‘An entertainment from the Most Forgiving, Merciful God.’
[41:34] **And who is better in speech than he who invites men to Allah and does righteous deeds and says, ‘I am, surely, of those who submit?’
[41:35] And good and evil are not alike. Repel evil with that which is best. And lo, he, between whom and thyself was enmity, will become as though he were a warm friend. **
[41:36] But none is granted it save those who are steadfast; and none is granted it save those who possess a large share of good.

I’m not sure I understand why Montalban has the angry smilie for his post.

I also don’t know that I agree with LilyM’s assessment about sleeping positions: it sounded like lying on the back was not permitted.
Maybe he was suffering from the situation described in the last link in his post.

Glad that they’re worrying about the important things, and not getting sidetracted on that charity stuff when they prayer (I don’t think contemplating killing infidels invalidates prayer. Our Lord had other ideas on that "Leave you gift on the altar…).

Apologies Woodstock, the term ‘mishmash’ was illadvised. I didn’t mean to be critical. I was simply thinking of the different extents to which the different Eastern Catholic traditions adopt distinctly Orthodox or distinctly Catholic practices.
Catholicism is distinctly Orthodox.

Yes, and if there is no water to wash with for ablutions, you use dirt (tayammun I think is the term).

A) Unfortunately the “Hate speech” which you so deplore is “hard wired” into the very core of the islamic trilogy, the qu’ran, the sira and the hadith, and every major school of islamic “jurisprudence” (an oxymoron) acknowledges the same attitude about the opression of Christians and Jews as Dhimmis or slaves, the oppression and subjugation of women, the death sentence for apostasy and the universal command to fight Jihad against he Kuffar until the judgment day. I don’t see how any muslim can plausibly dent that all of these ideas are of paramount importance in islam.

B) The conflation of the pagan idol “Allah” with the God of the Bible is a blasphemy and a lie invented by Muhammad in order to legitimize his newly invented religion. This “Allah” was but one of a pantheon of pagan idols inhabiting the rude “Kaaba” in Mecca, then a pilgrimage site for pagan Bedouins. This “Allah” then as now is represented by a stone idol. A black chunk of meteorite encased in a stainless steel receptacle. Do not allow such blasphemies to fool you.

As for the Ahmadi’s, if you are sincere in your desire to “bridge the gap” as you say, I applaud you. Unfortunately, I cannot join you. Islam is evil and rotten to it’s very core and must be eradicated from the face of the earth. A bridge from the Catholic Church to Hell is not a bridge I want any part of.

i think wire tapping should be allowed in every church, mosque and temple in the usa.

that way it is equal treatment and we weed out all of the garbage sooner.

I was on a website set up by a former CIA Black Op who said that this is already done. The wires are disguised to look like ordinary bugs like spiders and ants. they are nanobots and can move as they need too. Each one is also a small explosive device that can be used to destroy the buildings. They have already created several militant but fictional groups to blaim, depending on who they want to attack. I would point you to the site, but it has been shutdown now. The host is in hiding in the jungles of Alaska that are now there because of Global warming but the Bush administration is hiding them from you. All 1,000,000 acres of them.
