Because it isn’t the instruments or tools that kill. It’s the people.
Yeah, but guns make it a lot easier and more efficient.

You don’t seem to want to acknowledge that the gun culture is a manifestation of the culture of death or that it is fueled by demonic forces. Once you look at it from that perspective it takes on a whole new terrifying aspect.

You really cannot deny that the rhetoric and justifications used by NARAL and NRA supporters is identical. This is what gives it away. So maybe you should think again why your faithfilled friends on this forum are so appalled to hear you repeat it.

I hope you will see the light soon and work with us to put an end to the culture of death in all its manifestations.

They also make defending oneself easier. They also make it easier for law enforcement, our military to defend us. Guns are only tools. Tools can be used for good or ill.

I don’t because it is a lie. The right to bear arms, by the overwhelming majority of gun owners, has nothing to do with s culture of death. Thus, the culture of death is related to info, not tools.

Of course I can, as this is a lie, too, and a vicious attack on innocent Americans who hold arms. As I pointed out earlier, the progressive Democrat organization NARAL has as its main tenant the right to kill the unborn. The NRA, on the other hand, professes no such right to kill anyone. To say it does is a lie, as well.

I find it discouraging to hear faithfull friends here want to deny people their right to self defense, which disproportionately impacts women and older citizens. I’m also discouraged when they intentionally misrepresent the intent and beliefs of NRA members and other law abiding citizens
I hope you will see the light soon and work with us to put an end to the culture of death in all its manifestations.
I hope and pray that those who wish to destroy individual rights will come to an understanding that the culture of violence and death has to do with individuals, not tools, and taking tools away from law abiding citizens doesn’t fix the problem

Absolutely. I am on my way out now to buy some AR’s. As we saw yesterday, they are a lot more powerful than just rifles and hand guns. And then I am going to stop by a Planned Parenthood clinic to protest and tell those pregnant women just shut up, go home and have their babies! How dare they think they have any liberty—no matter what that stupid Supreme Court said. 🇺🇸
Well, you have a good time with that. But you better hurry. You never know when the progressives will have their way outlawing firearms, and send their government thugs out to mow down those evil law abiding citizens who keep their arms. You know, like the unborn, they are such an inconvenience.

I agree.

There is something wrong systemically within American culture. Probably the tendency to glorify violence. You can see this in the way criminals are glamorized. People like Billy the Kid or Jesse James, Bonnie and Clyde, Charles Manson.

I’m sure this shooter already has his share of fan girls now when before he was hardly noticed.

You mentioned the 1960s. You may be on to something here. I think the definition of freedom had changed.

Before freedom was seen as an invitation to responsibility. During the 1960s popular definition of freedom was more of unbridled license. License to do anything one wanted in spite of the consequences.

It’s unfortunate that you have to lie and distort in order to try and make a point. We don’t really see hardly any “progressives” trying to outlaw firearms, none in Congress, nor do we see any “thugs out to mow down those evil law abiding citizens who keep their arms”. Maybe if you and some others had more concern for our kids being slaughtered and less concerned about defending the NRA this country and our children would be far better off.

That is exactly right. And in the case of these shooters, they are not exercising a right ( there is no right to take a life, before or after birth, except in self defense), they are taking license, and the firearm is just a convenient tool to do so.

Oh please. The poster I was responding to is using absurd hyperbole. I was responding in kind.
While there are a good number of progressives who support the end of the 2nd ( please don’t lie and say there is not), there is of course no plan to mow people down.
Please go back and reread the absurdity the other poster wrote.

Nice try, but NARAL and the NRA both demand unfettered access to instruments of death,
Do you have a source for your claim that the NRA opposes all firearms regulations including NICS checks and firearms for convicted criminals? It’s this kind of dishonest rhetoric that makes people skeptical of claims that you only want “common sense” gun regulations as opposed to a rigorously enforced, total ban on all private gun ownership.

I swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. It has no expiration date.

Adam Lanza’s mother as well. All those guns for protection and then a victim of matricide.

There would be no need for that kind of talk if people like you were not trying to ban guns

What I think is silly is that whenever these shooting occur,we go right back to the same trite arguments and platitudes.Again the guns aren’t the problem is the individual.
I say this as one who experienced the Columbine shootings 19 years ago.My daughter was a sophomore at the time and ran for her life out of the school, experienced the loss of close friends. At thirty five she still has PTSD and is fearful for her own children. So no I am not yucking it up or making light of this issue.

I am afraid even with an outright ban the number of gun deaths will still be too high.

There are already existing laws designed to keep guns from the crazies however in this case it was negligence on the part of a parent which made this tragedy possible. There is something systemic in American culture which makes this possible. There are countries in where guns are freely available and countries which ban guns but either way none of them suffer the high amount of gun violence we do.

I’m sorry about your daughter. My son has PSTD for a different reason, I hope she’ll find peace over her trauma.

Like I said,if I can be guaranteed that gun restrictions would solve the souls sickness and the criminals would not have access to guns ,then so be it.Realistically, there is no way to guarantee this.its just more symbolism over substance, emotion based.

If by “understand” you mean creatively distort the plain text into something completely unrecognizable, yes.
