More leftist self-destruction. And they want to take YOU with them (envy) in this destructive paradigm.

Nightly violent riots continued in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, with rioters chanting ‘Kill a Cop, Save a Life’ and hurling objects at police that resulted in two officers being hospitalized.

Police said a clash took place between Antifa and a group of about 30 people who gathered to show support for police. A video posted on journalist Andy Ngo’s Twitter account shows alleged Antifa members harassing others as they leave the site of the riot.

This is what antifa do to people they encounter in the street. Watch them assault and hit a man walking away from the antifa riot in SE Portland. They bring bats precisely for this purpose. #PortlandRiots #antifa Video by @VenturaReport . . .
. . . “Police said that by the time they put out their press release outlining the night’s attacks that there had been over 60 calls for police help that were on hold because the police were busy responding to the far-left rioters who were attacking them,” the Daily Wire reported.

More violence in this leftist city.

Sooner or later this was bound to happen (which is just what the leftists have been instigating and goading for months now).

This will escalate as long as the police keep standing down. Democrat mayor Ted Wheeler’s actions to me, suggests he WANTS this to escalate (despite his rhetoric being otherwise).

Dueling Portland clashes shut down streets, as police try to manage chaos

Violent skirmishes broke out as people attacked each other with pepper spray, paintball guns, bats, shields and projectiles

By Caitlin McFall | Fox News

. . . A right-wing group planned a “No to Marxism in America” rally at the Terry Schrunk Plaza near the courthouse at noon, following a Black Lives Matter (BLM) counterprotest scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.

Another event called the “Mother of All Back The Blue Rallies,” a pro-police protest, also was planned at noon.

Groups like the right-wing Proud Boys and left-wing Antifa were present for today’s rallies.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler tweeted a warning to all of the day’s protesters, telling them to “peacefully exercise their First Amendment Rights.”

But violent skirmishes broke out around the city anyway as people attacked each other with pepper spray, paintball guns, bats, shields and projectiles. Streets were blocked, and police monitored the situation near the Multnomah County Justice Center. . . .

. . . Police officers also confiscated a bucket of condoms filled with an unknown liquid, and water bottles full of what was believed to be urine, near the protests. . . .

I expect there to be a lot of quiet Democratic supporters in these cities planning to change their vote come November.

It’s weird that everyone here believes that the Democratic Party are somehow responsible for these riots or condone them. People on Twitter who participate in and support these riots are pretty annoyed at the Democratic Party politicians who run these cities and consider them to be responsible for the harsh police response. I have seen people call Ted Wheeler “Tear Gas Ted”, and a video went viral of a protestor dumping a load of spent tear gas canisters in front of him to make a statement. He also joined the protestors at one point and got tear gassed himself, but he was largely jeered by the crowd (Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler faces boos, calls to resign and tear gas - OPB)

Here is the video with Ted and the spent tear gas canisters:
The protestors really don’t seem to like him or think that he is doing enough to reform Portland police. I think he’s basically just trying to avoid responsibility for anything by playing up the federal government response.

I also find it hilarious that we had a thread about some poor old guy who got pushed by a cop and hit his head after waving his cell phone at their badges and refusing to move, and that got a big uproar. But this old guy? Eh, who cares?
There have been lots of incidents involving police brutality that just don’t get posted here. A man got hit in the head by riot ordinance and is probably going to be disabled for the rest of his life, but that was never mentioned here. It’s very easy to find videos of the kind of brutality that the police engage in, but it’s less likely to make it into the media (especially not Brietbart).

And we have cops disabled in various ways for the rest of their lives.

Do you think both of these things are bad? As it is I think most people here basically think it’s okay for cops to attack and permanently injure members of the public (at least if it’s in the US - less sympathy was shown for the Hong Kong or even French police when they had similar riots recently).

The situation in Portland is so very sad.

My daughter has been involved in figure skating competitions in Portland, and she and her fellow skaters LOVED this beautiful city and the amenities.

I fear that Portland will have a long crawl back before it can attract tourists and events again. This is a shame, as these things pump money into local economy and make a location vibrant and safer.

And as long as I’m being gloomy, the sport of figure skating will have a long crawl back to viability again. I doubt that the U.S. will be competitive at this sport for years as most rinks are closed to Learn To Skate classes (which is the source of new talent and of course, money for the local skating clubs, which are the ones who sponsor the National, World, and Olympic champions), and it’s too expensive to open the ice for just one or two competitive skaters to practice. Synchronized skating is in a total mess, as it is a close contact sport that requires a wide field of vision (which mask-wearing diminishes, dangerously, IMO)–I fear this sport, at least in the U.S., will be gone or at best, limited to only a few elite training centers in the U.S…

I think that certain other countries are ignoring COVID and allowing their skaters to practice the same as always, and if they get sick, well, the next skater in the pipeline gets to move up and take the place of the ill/dead skater.

But of course, unless your family has been involved with the sport of figure skating for decades…it’s “meh” for most Americans.

Very sad stuff.

I deplore any unprovoked attacks or disproportionate responses on the part of any of those involved.

But I do think that given the evidence presented: rioters throwing any from conveniently placed bricks to urine-filled bottles to Molotiv cocktails, that it is not really an issue of police behaving badly but of rioters behaving badly.

I notice another interesting thing. We are all Very Clear on the number of unarmed black people killed by police. We all know about George Floyd. We all know black people are disproportionately imprisoned, even taking into account the nature of the crimes involved. There are people who can “say their names.” Whose names? Those killed by police.

However, information about those injured or killed by protesters is not so available. How many have been seriously injured or killed by protesters?

Why do some people think that what is mostly happening is peaceful protesting? Why are people outraged about federal LEO sent to guard the federal courthouse?

Quite frankly, the msm is not reporting the depredations of the rioters, organized and planned, in the same way they report the wrongs of police officers, unplanned and individual.

One police officer kills one man–and we all deplored this–and suddenly we have pallets of bricks brought in for rioters to throw at police officers trying to keep rioters from burning down under-construction public housing, black-owned businesses, and stores serving poor neighborhoods?

And yet how many of us know the name of the retired police officer killed in the rioting? The names of officers blinded by laser lights? Truck drivers pulled out of their cars and beaten?

So, yes, there are those who support the police more than the rioters. Go figure.

I never thought of the effect on sports such as skating. I love ice skating as do many viewers so I hope they are able to make a comeback.

The Dem ‘s who govern these cities in chaos seem either unwilling or unable to get control of these situations.Who else is to blame?

Oh I think the Democratic Party and local governments are to blame, but so is the federal government. Really they’re the same body with the same interests, but the separation of powers that exists in the United States allows them to just pass the blame. Tear Gas Ted hasn’t made any effort or real commitment to police reform, but he wants to pass the blame other to the federal government and make a scene of calling out police brutality as a way to win over the protestors. Clearly it isn’t working.

For what it’s worth, you probably can’t just end these protests through overwhelming force. The French tried it and it resulted in the police demanding a ceasefire with the protestors. I think Tear Gas Ted and the other Democrats who run these cities are aware of that.

Trump was accused of overstepping his authority when he sent in help re the riots in Seattle.By andclarge these Dems mayors, governors have voiced their objections to any federal help.So the blame lands squarely on these. Individuals.

I am not interested in cheerleading for the American state as it crushes these protests. Still, I think you should keep in mind that stopping these riots is probably not just a case of using overwhelming force, and I think people like Tear Gas Ted are aware of that. But I repeat myself.
