Muslims have given 99 names for Allah, and they are quite nice, but one of the most important one is not given which we Christians address God.
Father, Our Loving Heavenly Father
Any reason for not addressing Allah as Father? Is Allah so distant to Muslims?
I think an interesting way of looking at this question is to write 99 attributes of what you believe a great father would have.
For me this brings understanding of the great apostle Paul (pbuh) warning on getting hung up on the definitions of words.
To go a little further form my listening to people of the Islamic religion the father / son issue suggests to them that the G-d Yeshua (pbwh) prayed to is some how dependant on him. From reading the bible one would see in many places Yeshua (pbwh) was dependant on the Father and it is Christians that are dependant on Yeshua (pbwh) who opens a door for relationship with his Father / G-d.
Most people of the Islamic religion do get hung up on words but also have english as a second or third language, maybe this makes it even harder for them to get the same understanding being shared. They have an admirable fear of G-d and dont want to get it wrong.
The bible teaches they are a stubborn people where as Christians are defined as open people like children. Of course in experience Christians can be just as stubborn and i know some people of the Islamic religion that are very open.
I guess from a modern Catholic understanding one could ask how open am I to be considerate of their understanding (of course without need to comprise to truth) when looking at the issue of 99 names and Father. i dont see a bad attribute in the 99 names.
If we were to say the 100 attributes of G-d we would still sell Him short, He is so much more but as people these 100 names help us to direct our prayers away from our idolatry. Yeshua (pbwh) taught prayer is to The Father and people of the Islamic religion pray to Him who is the in those 99 names. I think the Catechism of Catholics says we aspire pray to the same G-d.
If we pray to other than The Father / Allah, the teaching of Yeshua (pbwh) and Mohamed (pbuh) we are not doing what they taught.
This may cause us to be against each other rather than for G-d’s goodness in each other then we open the door for the dark one who wants us to tear down rather than build up.
Pray well to the Father / Allah and by your repentance desire bringing action and His mercy stay well and do well for His glory.
i will be who i will be you have free will so you choose who you see
