I’m not trying to start a fight here, but wisdomseeker…did you miss the part about how they are two men, with ssa, who are living CHASTELY? I agree, it may be cause for scandal, but that does NOT make them guilty of sexual sin.
Hey, why not fill the Church with same sex man and women living together and say that it is ok as long as they abstain from sex. we can also do this with contraception and abortion. approved under certain circunstances. please!

Wisdomseeker, you’re obviously missing what we’re trying to point out to you. You’re being obstinate and blind.

I mean, really - you’re not making sense. You’re rattling on trying to compare abortion to living chastely…?? Get a grip, dude.

You know, I try really hard to maintain a desire to become Catholic, but some of you make me want to run away from the RCC screaming. Some of you try and tell me not to listen to what other Catholics say - that I should pay attention to official church teaching. But hell, it’s clear some of you don’t. How can it be expected for me to learn something from fellow Christians when you have this holier-than-thou, self-righteous attitude that drives people away.

our Lord calls us into repetance and obedience. are you ready for these things?

you are called to holiness. you are called to follow the path of God.

if some in the Church is not in that path, it is not your concern. your concern is to follow our Lord in holiness. you follow those who are holy and are obedient to the teachings of the Church. there are many in the Church with all kinds of agenda. pray for discernment. if a man lacks wisdom, let him ask from God. there is a great spiritual battle going on within the Church, just listen to the holy father. he is not specific, but with divine discernment you shall know them.

God bless.

It seems to me that you are being extremely judgmental here. There are many people of same sex or of opposite sex who live together to various reasons and who do not have a sexual relationship. I am from the old school, but I think you are being extremely narrow in your thinking and assigning motives and actions to people that you do not know.

why? did Jesus called the Pharisees to accept homosexual life style and they reject?

I know that people like to use Jesus, our Lord, to justify whatever wrong they are doing to make it look like it is approved by God. please, show me where Jesus says it is ok for two man or two women to live together as partners as long as they dont have sex. i am waiting.
You clearly are reacting before you really look at what happened. Where did the Bishop -approve- of the homosexual lifestyle? I honestly can’t tell if you are as stubborn and refusing to regard the facts as you seem to be, preferring your opinions of the straw men you are building in your head… or if you are merely posing as Catholic and behaving badly to sow discord.

I suspect that wisdomseeker is a poseur or is the among the most poorly catechised Catholics it has been my misfortune to meet. The Pharisees would have loved your company, friend.I can’t argue with a brick wall and frankly you are wasting my time.I suggest you make an appointment with your Bishop to discuss your point of view./I personally feel that you are condemning the sinner and not the sin.

In this case no one is sinning but similarly to the pharisee who pontificated on his own goodness while thanking God he was not a tax collector like the man praying in temple next to him,you are judging these two boys who are behaving chastely like all good unmarried Catholics.Just a word of advice before you meet our Maker-Judge not lest you be Judged.,and remember Christ’s greatest commandment to us all,“Love each other as I love you”.
That applies to those two boys too.I will pray that God softens your heart.Peace.

We all sin and we all think we are right. Please take everything you hear here with about 650 pounds of salt.Don’t judge the Church by misinformed, judgemental, putative Catholics.Read the Catechism for the correct take on everything.Christ’s Church is open to all-it is a hospital for sinners.Thank God we have confession which I will be attending after some of the thoughts I have had regarding certain individuals in this thread.Sometimes when i feel that this forum becomes a near occassion of sin for me because of MY reaction,I withdraw for a time.If I have offended you I apologise and will pray a Rosary for you on your journey into the bosom opf Christ’s Body on earth.

is he a homosexual living with another man? or not?
There is a misunderstanding here. Living in the same house does not mean sleeping in the same bed. There are many heterosexuals who are housemates.

The article is very clear that the two men love each other very much. That’s not a sin. It’s also very clear that they live in the same house. That’s not a sin either. It is very clear that they do not sleep together and both follow the Church’s teachings on chastity. There is no sin there either.

For something to be a sin, an evil act has to be done with complete knowledge and full consent. There is no evidence here of an evil act being committed. As I said, many people of both genders live in the same house, but are not sexually involved. The Church owes the person the benefit of the doubt. That’s Church law. It’s in the canons of 1917 and 1983.

Fraternally,

In light of the fact that, after converting to Catholicism, I may consider joining a monastery, I’d say yes I’m ready for those things.

Are we not supposed to look out for one another and correct those who are in error? Plus, it is my concern to the extent that I would want to be sure I don’t become too involved with fellow believers who might lead me astray as a new Catholic.

oh brother! i will let God be the Judge.
if two men living together or two women living together as partners is not a sin, then i dont know what it is. once the priest told me that if a man and a woman living together but chasty, they still are not to come to the Eucharist until they are married. i agree with the priest. so, what do you say to same sex people who live together? do you tell them, wait until you guys get married? do you say it is ok for them to receive the Eucharist?

i think i made my case. i said all i have to say about this case.

You haven’t offended me at all…at least not in this thread. And if you have in a different thread, then I’ve forgotten about it. 😉 So no need to apologize.

I understand what you are saying. I am trying to remember NOT to judge the church itself, even in light of all the recent scandals and the whole priest-abuse thing. (My best friend from high school was one of the primary victims in the priest abuse scandal. It affected his life very badly.)

You haven’t made a case at all. You’ve simply expressed your opinion - an opinion, I might add, which is sowing discord and confusion. Is that not a sin, also?

Tell me, Wisdomseeker, is there any particular thing in your life which you struggle with? Is there any particular sin you have not yet commited, but for which we should judge you and declare you guilty? You’re presuming a lot of things about these men. You’re declaring them guilty before they’ve even sinned. On what basis do you do that? You think that simply because they are homosexual, that it somehow means they are incapable of controlling themselves? Have you ever considered that maybe they realize homosexual sex is sinful, and are thus strong enough to avoid it, yet still love one another enough to care for one another?

Gospel June 13, 2010

A Pharisee invited Jesus to dine with him,
and he entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at table.
Now there was a sinful woman in the city
who learned that he was at table in the house of the Pharisee.
Bringing an alabaster flask of ointment,
she stood behind him at his feet weeping
and began to bathe his feet with her tears.
Then she wiped them with her hair,
kissed them, and anointed them with the ointment.
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this he said to himself,
“If this man were a prophet,
he would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him,
that she is a sinner.”
Jesus said to him in reply,
“Simon, I have something to say to you.”
“Tell me, teacher, ” he said.
“Two people were in debt to a certain creditor;
one owed five hundred days’ wages and the other owed fifty.
Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both.
Which of them will love him more?”
Simon said in reply,
“The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven.”
He said to him, “You have judged rightly.”

Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon,
“Do you see this woman?
When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet,
but she has bathed them with her tears
and wiped them with her hair.
You did not give me a kiss,
but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I entered.
You did not anoint my head with oil,
but she anointed my feet with ointment.
So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven
because she has shown great love.
But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”
He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
The others at table said to themselves,
“Who is this who even forgives sins?”
But he said to the woman,
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

I guess Wisdomseeker wasn’t paying attention to this Sunday’s Third Reading.God Bless You for transcribing it.Wisdomseeker don’t emulate the Pharisee emulate Christ.

So am I to understand that I can live in the same apartment/house with my girlfriend and shame on anyone who might think we are causing scandal? Isn’t that textbook scandal?

nice one

there are many other instances of Christ dining with tax collectors (the corrupt and greedy) and prostitutes. dining with them does not mean we condone their sin. but is shutting the doors of them offering them salvation in the Church. Christ reached out to them so that God’s teaching may reach them and that they may choose the salvation God offers. if we look at a person and judge them and say they don’t belong to the Church, then we miss completely why Christ established His Church. yes, we are CALLED to Holiness, but we don’t need to be Holy to enter His Church. we enter His Church so that we may become Holy
