Dangit!! Why do you open yourself to such obvious and multiple refutations!! Is it guilt??
This last BS to try to explain the lack of evidence for the BOM really takes the cake. Is he really seriously proposing that the evidence for the BOM just DISAPPEARED!!! Where are the cities? where are the artifacts? where are the steel weapons? where are the piles of bones from the climactic battles? Where are the legends that were surely remembered by the native people? Where? I’ll tell you where. They passed into eternity when ol’ Joe Smith shuffled off his mortal coil, because that was the only place that they ever existed. mormons, there is more evidence for the Lord of the Rings.

Please, don’t give me the FARMS excuses. FARMS says the Asians swallowed up the Lamanites. They say that because they want to find an excuse for why there are no Lamanites to be found. It’s a joke.
Actually, The Book of Zelph explains the Asian DNA far more believably than FARMS does. 😃

You are correct. I too read the Book of Zelph. After which I ate 12 cans of anchovies. I fell into a trance, during which I received a revelation that the Book of Zelph was TRUE. What more can I say?
Other than the fact that the anchovies gave me serious heartburn and even my dog won’t kiss me.😉

And, unlike the Book of Mormon, The Book of Zelph is interesting and really fun to read and verily, it doth have pretty good character development. 😉 And I bid thee sayonara. 😃

Thanks, Paul. I’ve never seen that before and it is hilarious; I’m having a totally stressed-out week and that was just what I needed!

Reformed Asian indeed…

I came across this web site with a “Book of Mormon” tour. How convincing is it to you?

I was a Mormon, I went on and served a full two year Mission and was honorably released. I attended Brigham Young University and went to the Temple.

There are various references in the Book of Mormon (BOM) that do not match with history. The BOM contends that culture and humans grew from the southern isthmus of land <Belize, Panama) and moved North. Scientists now know through trqcing genetic code that it did not work that way. It moved across a frozen land bridge where the Alutians are now south through North America down towards the Panama area. Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was not a prophet and there was no apostacy as he incorrectly stated.
Any time you are asked to read something, rely on your feelings alone to determine if something is inspired and not think, …check your back pocket because you are about to get your wallet stolen. The BOM is factually innacurate and has had many changes made to it by the LDS Church even after they proclaimed it to be the most acruate book and straight from the mouth of God. Joseph Smith gave several conflicting accounts where he alleges that God and Christ (he tossed in a few other for good measure then changed them in later reaccounting).
On my mission I was taught sales skills to assist in teaching, we all were.
The BOM is a nice well weaved romantic fairy tale. It is not the inspired word of God and does not have the worth of the paper it is written upon. If you want to talk more n email I am at dstrevelat, gmaildot. Com. Use ~Mormon~ in the subject line.
If your family is being visited or taught by Mormon Missionaries you can and should make them go away. Email me, ask and I’ll tell you how.
Don Strevel, Served in the Mormon California Oakland Mission, 1979-1981. Now, happily Catholic 😉

People never think that people rush away from the LDS Church, but they do!

Two knocked on my door a couple of nights ago, I told them I was not interested. They went on to mention the blessings that come from their church, and that they’d like to share, again I said I was not interested. They asked me to take their card, which I did, and said “have a nice evening” I said “thanks you too” and they left. A nice change from the last pair who visited and were a smidge on the belligerent side. And I might add were the talk of PTA meetings, ball games, and our local summer fests. We’re very small townish here in our suburb.

I threw away the card but if I remember correctly they promised answers to these things.

The true nature of God.
Can families be together forever.
What happens after you die.

Quite frankly I was flummoxed. I just don’t see how even just a cursory back round in Christianity could answer those questions easily. Why do people get sucked in? Just what are you guys taught in marketing class???

Mormons are taught from day one that Mormonism is the only place that has the answers to those questions. The missionaries themselves have been taught this and truly believe it. They in turn, knock on doors until they find someone who falls for it all. These people believe it and at every meeting of Mormons they reinforce these beliefs, to the point that they are unable to even consider that these questions were answered long, long ago.

I guess I just don’t understand why anyone falls for it. Like I said I just don’t see how these questions can’t be answered by even a C & E Christian. And how some one who is unfulfilled by their own experience in church can accept something so much more limiting. Where does Christianity say you can’t be with family forever? What’s with needing heaven spelled out to you in detail? Why in the world would God being just another human being be appealing?

Mormons are taught nothing in 'Marketing Class. However, a mormon would answer your question like this: It is not the missionaries that suck people in. But many people when they begin to hear the message, begin to feel the prompting of the holy ghost. And these promptings bear witness to the truthfulness of the message.

End of story. 🙂

No one falls for it. But mormons would tell you that the holy ghost testifies to these people that the message is true.

And when this does happen, it is very difficult to deny the message.

So “why me” you’re a Catholic. Has the Holy Ghost testified to you the Book of Mormon is true?

BartBurk,
Whyme is NOT Catholic. He alleges that he attends mass and hangs out with clergy. Maybe. The Spirit that testifies to the “truth” of mormonism is NOT the Holy Spirit as we know it. My priest says that it is demonic.

I guess I should have said he “claims to be Catholic.”

I’m sure Bart knows WhyMe’s posting history. He is just checking to see what story WhyMe comes up with now. ‘Ya know, "lyin’ for the Lard" and all that stuff. 😃

My friend from high school “fell for it” and that is the phrase she used, with great regret, a decade later when she realized it was all a sham.

whyme is mormon but did not serve a mission so he doesn’t realize how much sales training they are given

Benny Hinn does miracles on T.V. Much more convincing than a burning in your bosom.
