You are envious and frustrated because you know that if it were not for us you would still be in the cave worshipping the stone and the fire, or perpaps a block of wood in the shape of a demon. You would not even have a Bible to read or a Jew to call him your savior. You should be grateful to God that the Jewish People exist on earth as a People before the Lord. That’s what guarantees your salvation. Read Jeremiah 31:35,36 to see what I mean. You are so jealous of us that you even cannot hold your tongue to insult with ad hominem, as you have done in this post #67. Have a good day, sir.
I am not FatTire, but I have to say that you have again overstepped your bounds with rudeness and a superiority complex that is anything but righteous. Perhaps FatTire had overstepped some bounds too (We ought to always respect the importance of your ancestors’ role in our own Faith), but your reply bespeaks rudeness to
every non-Jew, not only him.
As I said above in a response to yankee_doodle, if not for Christ’s resurrection, I for one would find no truly compelling reason to believe in the Judea-Christian God, and so why, so far as I can see, would we think we should be jealous of you, most especially if Christ didn’t rise from the dead? You assert that we would be worshiping rocks and wood without you, but that is supreme arrogance: Great Philosophers such as Aristotle were beginning to draw concepts of a First Cause, an Unmoved Mover, not contained by Greek Myth or idols, and they had likely not so much as heard of Judaism. Ergo, it was gravely uncalled for of you to assume that all Gentiles would worship stone or wood without your own people to provide us an example. By now, if not for Jesus Christ’s resurrection, religiously-minded Gentiles who would otherwise be Christian would probably be something similar to Deists, but along the lines of Aristotelian philosophy.
Before Jesus Christ, not many Gentiles found Judaism to have a ring of truth to it, nor did they find it any more intellectually compelling than any other belief system, so without Him, Judaism really wouldn’t have had much of an effect on what Gentiles believe, and yet we would have found civilized, non-primitive forms of religion quite without Judaism, in that case. If not for Jesus Christ, I would probably, being of a monotheistic rationale, believe in a great First Cause of some sort, and probably the immortality of the soul…perhaps miracles in some fashion, even if I didn’t know how to organize them or theologically explain them. Especially with today’s modern world, I doubt I would have believed in wooden or stone gods, your rudeness notwithstanding. Even without Jesus Christ,
reason, not Judaism, would have saved me from worshiping lifeless idols. Even without Jesus Christ,
reason, not Judaism, would have led me to believe in a single God who created everything. Even without Jesus Christ,
reason, not Judaism, would have led me to believe in an organized ethical system, one dictated by common sense and rationality. In comparison with Christianity, I do believe these beliefs would have been imperfectly formed, but they would have by no means been primitive or superstitious; in the absence of Judaism’s or Israel’s existence, we gentiles would be no less capable of living intelligent (key word), religious, and happily fulfilling lives.
I have nothing against your people; in fact, it would be unchristian of me to bear animosity toward the Race from whom Christ came. I
thank your people for being the vessel-nation that brought forth Jesus Christ, and for doing God’s will in the world to prepare yourselves for that; and due to Christ’s resurrection vindicating the reality of your (our) God, I would count it a great honor to have Jewish blood running through my veins, and so share that hereditary history; but without Christ, even
that wouldn’t make sense, theologically speaking, as I see no evidence, short of His resurrection, that the Judeo-Christian God is any
more likely to be the real God than the Unmoved Mover of Philosophy, or Islam’s Allah, who is somewhat the same as Israel’s God (in theory) but wants to spread his teachings to all people, not simply a single nation…which automatically makes more rational sense for a creator of the
whole world to want to do, at least at
some point in the history of the pre-eschatological world.
This is why earlier I tried to remind you that your beliefs require faith too–if not for Jesus Christ’s resurrection, I would need a most
deliberate faith in order to believe in Judaism over the more intuitive and philosophical conclusions of some of the vaguely theistic philosophers, or over the at least universally reaching–not limited to a single nation–claims of Islam’s concept of God. I am actually amazed and impressed with the degree of faith a non-Christian Jewish person must have to continue believing in Judaism, and I sincerely applaud you in having such faith; I would wish that you would place such faith in the Christian concept of God, but still the faith in itself is impressive, and I wish I could constantly have that much faith in my own religion (sometimes, my faith is very weak and only the historical evidence compels me to believe in Christ). I am not attacking your beliefs; Judaism as non-Christian Jews believe it is quite rational (until Christ’s time, it was
the Truth, after all) and ergo I do not insult the intelligence of those who believe in it. But Judaism isn’t very intellectually
compelling as to why it should be believed over
other truth-claims, and ergo requires a great deal of faith, which (faith) is not a bad thing but which you seem to reject as having any real value. That would be a trap of your own making, not ours.
By the way, what history books are you reading when you infer that all ancient, pre-Christian non-Jews dwelled or worshiped in
caves!? That architecture and civilized society (who didn’t worship in
caves) existed outside of ancient Israel, without any Jewish influence, is so undeniable and historically demonstrable that I could not even
begin to express the arrogance that the assumption to the contrary displays. Either you are unbelievably unfamiliar with the history of the non-Jewish world, or you simply wanted to insult non-Jews for the sake of it, accuracy notwithstanding. I need not reprimand you for you to know how unacceptable that is.
In short, please, refrain from looking down on non-Jewish people and belittling our intelligence the way you have been doing. You can be proud of your heritage and true to your religion
without assuming (quite incorrectly) that your people are the only thing standing between Gentiles and cave dwelling, idol worshiping idiocy.
Blessings in Christ,
KindredSoul
