‘Trig’ is, if anything, an anglicised spelling of the Scandinavian Trygve, and it does not bear that meaning.
Really? Out of that beautiful email, that is the only thing you wanted to comment on? That is sad.

My first born son is five yrs old with Down syndrome, so naturally I cried at the beauty of this letter. It was so heartfelt and I could relate to everything she said. We are truly blessed to have our little Breckin in our lives. He is definitely the best bud to daddy and has me wrapped right around his cute little finger. 🙂

My parents just bought my daughter a shirt that says, “My finger may be small, but I got my daddy wrapped around it.”

Children are a blessing, no matter what differences they are born with, every single one of them is special.

This is funny Borealis, it really is. What a selective memory you have. Just a few months ago conservatives were making fun of Michelle Obama, calling her fat, mocking the daughters too. Ann Coulter, of course, pride of the right, openly mocked the family members of 9/11 victims who owaqnted the terrorist attack to be investigated? Conservative pundits and even some members of this forum do indeed attack family members. Whatever supposed code of honor you say you subscribe to that holds family members off limits is evidently not shared by all of your fellow conservatives.
I do believe Borealis was referring to people who post on this site, can you show me where on this site anyone called Michelle Obama fat? where did anyone attack her children? and Ann Coulter does not post on this site. I am failing to see the need for you to post the above rhetoric.

Don’t dare pretend for a second that if it were Barack Obama who’d written sdome nice little email about his daughter that a thread about it on these forums would invariably turn into an Obama-bashing fest. "How did Sarah Palin’s beautifull e mail about her son turn into like or dislike.? (that was my post) it was just a question, I was not pretending anything. if Obama wrote a beautifull e mail about his daughter no one on this forum would attack him for that, life is very precious to most Catholics on this site.

And my post was in response to the fact that some people implied that somehow writing nice little emails about one’s children was somehow related to one’s qualifications for the single most important administrative job on the planet. That is just absurd , Please show me where anyone said that.

I think you have your answer.
SO, Sam, just b/c you think that *someone* has been mean to Mrs. Obama and her daughters, it justifies cruelty and stupidity toward Sarah and Trig? Sarah Palin has more class and integrity in her individual soul than a conference full of socialist world re-designers. As well, a stadium full of the mean-spirited among her critics, which comprise the vast majority. :) Rob

Rob. You need to go back and read Sam’s post he is on the same page as you, I think you mixed him up with someone else:)

I would also like him to point out any time a nationally known comedian has joked about her daughters being raped and their hope that she would get raped if she showed up in her New York. And while rather perhaps he can point out when anybody claimed that Michelle Obama’s daughters were really hers. The hatred for this women is absolutely unbelievable-I have never seen anything like this in my life. I can recall my grandfather’s unbridled hate for Richard Nixon-in fact the only time I ever heard my grandfather curse was when he discussed Richard Nixon. But his disdain for Richard Nixon was a lovefest compared to the vitriol directed at Sarah Palin.

It is totally beyond my understanding! I trully have never seen anything like it.😦

Comedians?

National “news” programs have made the same claims and statements against Palin.

Yes, I thought that his point was the exact opposite of what it was. Sorry! Rob

When I was younger the women who worked in the nearby local institution would coffee with my mother and talk of how the premier of the day insisted that under no circumstance would his developmentally disabled son be allowed to wave at him on his campaigning He wasn’t even allowed to be present. Having a child like this was considered a mark of shame by many, and a political liability for sure for anyone in public life. This was his dirty little secret.

I can still remember one sweet Down Syndrome fellow when I came to work in that institution who had the marks of shackles on his ankles years later from when his parents would chain him in their basement when he was younger so that nobody would know their shame.

It is refreshing to hear people like you then who recognize what a blessing these sweet people can be in your lives. That is a really big to recognize that, in spite of all the extra work and troubles I am sure must be involved, above all, the natural attitude is one of gratitude for what this little guy brings into your life.

It wasn’t always that way, I know.

I see though that in terms of public life, attitudes are such that being open above having a Down’s Syndrome child can indeed still be a political liability. Too many still value intelligence over soul.
Maybe that too will pass one day.

So thanks for sharing.
