No one forced either of you to click and read the thread . . . . Just sayin’
LOL

“I hate these threads” (clicks to track it)

There is one guy, and a few websites that as soon as I see what it is, I scroll to the bottom and mute. I would not post on a thread that I do not like to post on such threads.

I’m going to miss everybody, but I’m going to give a shout out for @GKMotley and @JonNC. There are others I’m going to miss too, but these two guys’ posts are the ones that really encouraged me to sign up in the first place. It’s been a lark, y’ all!

But I am always amazed at how people tie religion into politics and use the former to justify the latter.
Are you suggesting that one ought to vote contrary to his or her beliefs?
Wouldn’t such action be an exercise in hypocrisy?

I would like to have seen a discussion on the topic.
It is too bad one or two people without restraint went and ruined it at the very beginning.

Have you ever had to rely solely on the personal charity of others for your basic human needs? If so, how was that for you? Did you have to do it long term, due to being disabled?
Sure, that’s what spouses undertake with those “in sickness and in health vows.” Parents do the same for their children. Perhaps that is the source of the old saying “charity begins at home”. We start by praciticing on family members with their disabilities and reach out to others as well.

There’s a thread discussing other forum possibilities that you might find interesting.
I remember you from back in the day.
Welcome back, even if it’s only for a brief catch up before finding your next forum!

This is all political. I have been against illegal immigration since I could vote. You can not allow illegal immigration and also to claim you support the working class.
It was interesting that Black and Latino unemployment decreased very significantly during Mr. Trump’s presidency.

And what about those who don’t have a spouse or family? How do you think they feel having to only rely on the kindness of others? Secure?

For my part, thank you for your kind words.

And I’ll bet I’m speaking for JonNC, too.

I would hope that they would feel both hopeful and grateful. We all will get out turn to depend on the kindness of others, whether its a teacher or nursing aid, or neighbor, or family member.
And, we too, will have opportunities to give to others.

i like Catholic forums that can attract more than a few atheists (and Protestants) like this one did.

If everyone agrees with each other all the time, It could be either edifying or boring. 🙂

Did you really just flex on the number of Internet strangers who liked your anonymous post?
I’m willing to bet many of them aren’t “Internet strangers”. Cruciferi is known to many regulars on here as a friend or a friendly acquaintance who often makes good posts.

Also, 46 likes on here does show a significant agreement with his view. I’m not even sure why you’d take issue with it, but mine is not to reason why people post what they do on here.

I will certainly not miss a lot of the snark I see on these forums. And I will not miss threads like this one either.

Matthew 5
11 Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: 12 Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.

I suppose it depends on what kind of help, and how much, is needed. I wouldn’t feel secure at all relying on the kindness of strangers to keep a roof over my head or my diapers changed if I was disabled.

I am glad to pay tax dollars to provide for people in need.
