Well, it may be inflammatory, but then Muslims burn Bibles and behead Christians so I don’t see where Muslims have much room to complain. If they don’t want the Koran burned, leave our holy book alone. If they want peace, leave the Christians in this world to live in peace.

So then, we need not obey Our Lord when he says, “And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner.” (Luke 6:31)and then,"[43] You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thy enemy. [44] But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you: [45] That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust. [46] For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this? [47] And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this? [48] Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect." (Matthew 5:43-48)

When a supposed man of God leads his flock not only into error, but into actions that endanger others, especially military men and women and even civilians, in clear violation of the New Testament, we should approve such actions?

I totally agree with you Sam, why throw more fuel in the fire. Christians are still persecuted in predominantly Muslim countries, why give them a reason to justify their madness.
One thing that has nothing to do with this thread, we are not the largest denominational church in the world, the Catholic church is not a denomination, it is the Church, the other 30,000 churches are.

I have to agree with you Gurney. When I first read about this pastor and his church, I was reminded of some of the stuff the Nazis did.

Frankly it’s easy for him to sit there in central Florida and pull this stuff, but why doesn’t he have the courage of his faith like St. Francis of Assisi and go to the Muslims with his Gospel?

Our troops are fighting for those Muslims to have the right to freely practice their faith as well as any others and this clown wants to do something that is not only disgraceful and without merit but will likely endanger brave people who are there fighting for freedom.

I think it’s just a way to try make relationship between us and muslims better.
I think Islam have a corrupted idea about God (Jehovah) because of what Raheb Buhaira (x-monk) taught mohammad of (a way to get revenge of his church like the one who wrote Gospel of Barnabas), and because mohammad took advantage on the ignorance and “stupidity” of the people who followed him from the beginning (those 70 - 80 persons in 13 years when he used to preach without a sword) without any prove, and started to satisfy and give credits to him self by inventing new “divine law” said to be given by his god to give explanations for his actions (specially when comes to women)…

I don’t believe that the same god who sent mohammad (if any) is the same god who sent all other prophets and messengers. If the church believe so, I would leave the church and live my life alone with Christ.

what the hell… we lived 14 century of killing, death, misery, loots, rapes… having our churches attacked, stolen, destroyed or transformed into mosques, having our crosses destroyed, having our bibles burned on each occasion some lunatic is mad of a Christ believer, having our men of church killed in the name of that allah if someone isn’t pleased of what he heard…
Many Christians are immigrating and leaving countries that are populated by muslim majority mostly in the middle-east and north Africa because it’s not fun to be their…

Americans couldn’t bring a Bible, wear a cross, crucifix, Christian clothing, rosaries…
into Saudi Arabia during a war they wanted us there for. But us foolish westerners (some anyway) will bend over backwards for a false religion that chops our heads off. LOL…explain that one to Jesus.

I might imagine He’d be quite pleased with that; as I can’t think of a higher emulation of Christ than to bend over backwards for people who are trying to kill you. ;p

Anyway, to the OT the whole bit of burning the Koran seems really uncharitable to me, and is more likely to alienate Muslims from wanting to even be in the same room with a Christian let alone MAYBE listen to them, “go on about that Jesus fellow, just to be polite.”

We can’t evangelize if people aren’t willing to listen, and calling a Islam a devil religion and burning their holy texts isn’t exactly going to persuade them to friendship.

Muslims will not differentiate between minority Christians (nondenominational) and denominational ones, that action would create additional barriers between Christianity & Islam.
Burning the Quran will not solve anything, instead it will create more hatred and anger towards Christians in general, that nondenominational church should discuss with Muslims why they think it’s “a religion of the devil” through documentations and dialogues not through burning, and that nondenominational church should remember that the Pope of the highest denominational church in the world has kissed the Koran as a sign of respect back in 1999.

This is all over the news today Big Time. I agree what is this going to prove. Especially when it said on the news if they do this they are putting the Men and Women in the war in harm’s way. I don’t get it.

This is the land of the free. And beings that it is free People are free to worship as they feel. I agree that this is horrible.

Here in the States we turn on the TV and see Muslims burning our flag in effigy all the time in Middle Eastern countries. So do we all set out onto the streets in reprisals and acts of terror? Do we threaten to kill people who make fun of Jesus on Comedy Central as Muslims do cartoonists who portray Muhammad in an indelicate way? Muslims are so reactionary. They seriously think that ALL or even a majority of Christians in the U.S. are Koran-burners? Give me a break. This is a hick pastor in the South with an axe to grind. It’s dumb but Muslims should also have brains and wisdom enough to know that it’s a tiny tiny tiny minority of nuckleheads, not the majority of us normal Christian folks doing these kinds of idiotic, weird rallies.

Except there is a big difference between their disagreement and anger at our country vs our religion.

If this guy had a mad on for Iran, Iraq, or Afghanistan then I might say, , but instead he’s doing this to adherents of a faith community all over the world, most of whom seem peaceful.

I’d amend that to read, “People are so reactionary” because if you stop and look round and think it over you soon see that people all over the world tend to flip out when something pushes their buttons. Look at the immigration issues here in the U.S. and other countries just for example.

Besides, the media tends to publish anything they can to inflame opinion because it sells their advertising and increases readership. If the media simply ignored this whack job preacher. no matter what he does, then he’d make fool of himself and that would be the end of it pretty much.
