A nondenominational church planning 911 Quran-burning event.

Even if they back out of burning the koran, I expect that Christian churches in muslim countries or elsewhere will be attacked by muslims for even suggesting this. I can not wonder, how they respond to the fact that other christians will suffer for their actions. I also, wonder if their church now has a bullzeye painted on it. It is my experience, that angery people make poor listeners.
 
The RCC has burned Bibles and other books and banned others so it’s not like it’s something new.

Anyway,

At some point in the future, we, the collective population in the west are going to have to deal with a hostile Islam that wants us all dead. This walking around on eggshells to curry favor with folks that hate us is dumb. I’m not personally going to burn anything as I believe in freedom of religion but walk around the streets of most middle east countries with a Bible in your hands and see how long your hands remain attached to your arms.

“While the FBI has no information to indicate a specific attack has been planned against the United States or U.S. assets in response to the ‘International Burn a Koran Day’ event, the FBI assesses with high confidence that, as with past incidents perceived as acts of desecration against Islam, extremist actors will continue to threaten or attempt to harm the leaders, organizers, or attendees the event,” an FBI intelligence bulletin notes.
The FBI is concerned not only about the potential for an attack at the event – but also about retaliation going forward. The Aug. 19, 2010 intelligence bulletin out of the Bureau’s Jacksonville field office is entitled, “Extremists Likely to Retaliate Against Florida Group’s Planned ‘International Burn a Koran Day.’”

I think the problem is many people aren’t seeing the difference between burning books and beheading people. One is an act of speech that really harms no one unless they choose to be bothered by it. The other is an act violence, If Muslims choose to burn a Bible that is no skin of my teeth. It doesn’t prevent us from worshipping or living out our faith. It’s when violence and intimidation is used to prevent the practice of different religions where we really will have a problem

I’m afraid that a lot of people in high powered positions have played right into this pastor’s hands. There was no news story here(I mean some leader of a 50 member church is saying he’s going to burn a book.), but but rather a publicity stunt(what other than attention to these people want). And everyone from Gen Patreaus to Angelina Jolie have ensured that it is a hugely successful one at that. It fit into the media’s narrative that Christians and Americans are bigots, and the ran with this. The problem is there are nuts out there who think speech they don’t like justifies violence. This attention addict in Fla. isn’t to blame for that.

I just don’t get why some lame attempt at publicity garners more controversy than the fact that people are already threatening to blow up Churches over it.

The only real barrier is that islam contains heresies, esp. denying Christ’s Divinity, all other problems pales in comparison.

(I wouldn’t kiss the koran, it’s not part of Divine Revelation.)

The greatest thing Pastor Terry Jones could do it renege on his promise of book burning and think WWJD. Read the names of the victims of 9/11 or have a prayer service for them instead. Have a display of three thousand empty pairs of shoes to represent all those who died on 9/11.

Here is something else. In order to do the burning he needed a permit. The permit was denied to him. But he choose to still go on and break the law! Go figure!

What kind of Man of God could this be???🤷

I was just reading about this on my news feed. While he has a right under US freedom of speech, and I don’t agree with Islam myself being a Catholic, what possible good does this pastor see in doing this? Who gains? It makes no sense whatsoever. He may succeed in getting a few Americans killed around the world. It’s like he’s flying a plane into his own church? Is he trying to push martyrdom on people who don’t choose it as a free will choice? He’s going to burn books, keep his name in the paper, and some American soldier on R&R in Pakistan is going to be walking out of a tea house with nothing on his mind but a stroll down the street on a nice desert night, and somebody’s going to cut his throat. International incidents will ensue. Point made. Oh wait a minute, what was the point again?

You do not consider burning someones bible, their word of God an act of violence? What would you call it? What do you call this, an act for Peace? I would feel if someone took the Holy Bible and burned it being a violent act!

I would say anyone taking someone’s Religion rather it our Religion or not and burning it as an act of Violence. And how I feel he is teaching it is by asking his Church to help participate in this act. It is sure not an act of Good Will!!

This is supposed to be America. THe Land of the Free. We are free to worship whatever God we choose. Does this Man realize how much truth and how much of Gods word he is burning up. The QU’RAN has alot of Gods truth in it. Alot!!
