Well, if you don’t think there is going to be any more violence than usual, then that’s your choice. I don’t think I’m delusional just because I believe there will be violence or rabble rousing (ie burning effigies, crosses, crucifixes, Bibles, etc, or even more killing of religious) if the pastor burns the Qurans. You yourself said they are not rational (I hope you are only referring to the extremists, not your average American Muslim). Well, how is more violence than usual rational? If they do encourage more violence and it does come to pass, then it only reinforces your point. But really, what is it going to change? Are these terrorists any less likely to commit their atrocities if this Koran burning doesn’t take place? Really? I just don’t believe it. It’s not like these people are rational. They’ve proven that through past actions; to believe otherwise is to delude ourselves.
You ask if they are less likely to commit atrocities if the burning is cancelled. No, they are not. At least not the ones they have already planned. But if this does happen, then they will plan much more than normal. I can’t understand how difficult that is to comprehend.
However, if the burning goes ahead, one of us will be wrong. And I truly hope it’s me.
