A prayer at the 3 o'clock hour, let's offer something up to the Divine Mercy of Jesus

I know this isn’t the most appropriate place to post, but … I just prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet for her eternal rest. I felt due to her circumstances… She be remembered somewhere.

This is for Susan

She married and they had a son. The son was diagnosed with many serious medical issues. He required medical treatment and numerous surgeries throughout his life. Her husband became violent. He left her. She was told her son would only live to the age of eight or nine. She loved him dearly and took care of him using every resource she had, including selling her family business. He lived almost 20 years before passing away. His passing took a major toil on her and she. … She was never the same. She had medical problems herself as well as a doctor who over prescribed many medications. (IMO) Her parents had passed away a few years earlier. Her sibling - I don’t know enough about that relationship to comment. … She continued to work. For a period of time she found a church she enjoyed and drove 30 or 40 minutes each week to attend. . Later, she retired with little and found an apartment complex for seniors. She faced and tried to overcome many obstacles.

She was my mother’s friend for thirty years give or take a year. As the years passed they weren’t as close as they had been, but each had their own obstacles and that is what happens so often in life…

Today… I found out she passed away.

My mother had been trying to reach her for two weeks. I told her to call management to check on her welfare. They called back- she was dead (two weeks to a month) when they found her a week or two ago in her apartment. The only reason they passed along this information was due to the circumstances. No next of kin or anyone had come forward. They had no one to contact… I have no idea if she fell or had a heart attack or if… or if she finally took her own life.

Please pray for her eternal rest if you read this.

If you know someone who is hurting or lonely- please reach out to them. Please pray for them.

Bix, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom’s friend. She had a difficult life it seems. A story like hers makes one think that perhaps their own life, even with its own problems, might not be as bad as we think. And that we must always be kind, because we never know what a stranger might be dealing with in their life. I will add her name to my written prayer list and pray for her.

Eternal rest grant unto Susan, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed,

Thank you. That is the main reason I shared her background. People walk around in grief or burdened with stress that seems insurmountable… We never know truly know what is going on with someone. Sometimes it only takes a kind word to change someone’s day around.

I’ve now heard a 2nd story that she was found and then taken to a hospital where she passed away. I’m not sure which is true… So … I’m hoping somehow - some good comes from this as we never know the why or how a person is in a particular circumstance and as you said, “we must always be kind, because we never know what a stranger might be dealing with in their life.”
