A question for some Protestants who feel it is necessary to proselytize Catholics

And in hard times as such, Catholics have suffered very much. Where there has been suffering, there is much grace as well. So it is no picnic when ecclesiastics are corrupt. But the Church goes on and Jesus sustains us in a special way.

It is all about Jesus, not bad popes. The faith in the Lord continues. And it is a testament to Catholics who have held on to their faith in such times. The Shepherd knows His flock and they know Him. And all things pass.

During the Protestant Reformation, Catholics in England and elsewhere were being forced to leave the Catholic Church to become Protestant. Priests died terrible deaths in England being cut in half and quartered. King Henry wanted an heir, but then he ended up with … how many wives?..I know an Anglican couple who became Catholic and they finally looked at their foundation as based on adultery. How many royalty that head the Church of England have not commit adultery? With Luther, he was dealing with alot of corruption, but then he was a man of scruples and bad temper and anti-Semitic.

Can’t call the kettle black.

So there is no salvation in any human being. And Catholics should not put clerics on pedestals…any one will tell you that. It is all about the fullness of Jesus Christ that we are taught at nourished, our faith apostolic and universal.

You go into a Catholic parish. Everybody is on different levels of maturity of faith. Everybody has their own opinion. People can get into agruments. You have different age groups. You have different ethnic groups. But people stay put…alot of diversity in one parish…hetergenous. That reflects our universal nature.

With Hisalone, he is in a spirit of judgment and rejection. I am not going back to his game. He is not converting anyone. He is working with the same old stereotypes…a superficial perception with no depth…never experienced the Catholic faith. And he is not open to learning it.

HisAlone in red, mine in Blue
So what is the truth you have come to?
What is the heresy of yesterday?
As for CS Lewis --been there done that. Have U?
Who was John addressing in 1 John 27?
I have not forgoten the promises to Cephas or any of the apostles.
All of them are a far cry from “Pope”

Mary is the first recipient of the high price He paid. Mary's soul "magnifies" the Lord. That means her whole being acts as a magnifying glass to make Him bigger in our awareness.

Does your soul magnify the Lord? Is not Mary the example we all should follow? Did she not say "Do whatever He tells you? At anytime did Jesus tell you to ask Mary for help? Jesus always taught us to be directed to the Fatherfor our help. Why do you dishonor Mary by not following her example and doing as Jesus has taught?

Granted there was much corruption in the clergy in Europe at the time of Luther. However, Luther attempted to force scripture into a role it was never intended to fill, and this has split the Church, and continues to do so.

What split the church was pridefull men disregarded Gods word and attempted to lead Gods people from a position of their own sin.

The Sacred Scriptures should never be read in isolation from the Teachings that produced them.

Lectio Divina begs to differ.
Aside from the twisted scripture interpretation I believe very firmly that you have no idea what Lecito Dinina really constitutes.

I gave an honest answer to the OP.
I gave an honest answer when I said Im at CAF to defend my beliefs from false allegations made by Catholics.
I am not here at CAF to evangelize Catholics. I do that in my daily walk.

Why would you say that?
How many Protestants are familiar with Lecitio Divina and spell it right?
How many are familiar with first friday and first saturday devotions?
How many are familiar with Sister Faustina and Divine Mercy?
How many Protestants have read Thomas Merton?

It has been 18+ since I was a practicing Catholic but I know these things because** I LIVED them.**If I could say one thing on this board that Catholics would hear it would be this.

Catholics put aside all your other devotions and practice Lecitio Divina and Contempletive prayer.

Hisalone,

You are projecting your perversion onto our beliefs. Go pray for us and yourself.

Go to the Lord!

NOW this is INTERESTING.

It’s been 18 plus years since you were a practicing Catholic, Hisalone?

Yet earlier in the thread you said that you had been through 'Divine Mercy Sundays" (plural). And to ‘blame the nuns and the Jesuits’ for that.

However, it was only in April of 2000 that Pope John Paul II instituted Divine Mercy Sunday.

IOW, the institution of those ‘Divine Mercy Sundays’ that you SUPPOSEDLY ATTENDED was about 8 years AFTER you were no longer a practicing Catholic.

Care to explain this???

To evangelize requires one to be in communion with God. Not being in communion with God means one is not in communion with the Church. This means that you are not preaching truth then, so what you are doing may not be evangelizing, it could be coming from the evil one don’t you think. I mean this sincerely, not to insult. Satan is the father of lies. If you preach lies then you are preaching for the wrong side.

However, those things that you preach that are true are from God. Those things that you preach that are lies or based on lies are not from God. A house divided against itself …well you know the scripture don’t you? Further, I know that Christians like you assume just what I’ve stated above and therefore you won’t even bother to look up or verify anything we say simply because you believe you already possess the truth. The funny thing about doing this or not doing this makes me believe you are not sincere in discussing anything or even evangelizing. Why? Because if you truly wanted to “save us” then you would take the time to look at those passages of scripture we point out to try to show us why we are not viewing them correctly. That solidifies my assumption that YOU, my poor friend, are NOT SINCERE in evangelizing but rather here to RANT and RAGE at us. [caps used to emphasize, not to yell].

By definition, you are a false teacher then. Is this the case then. How can I come to believe that you are here sincerely when you don’t really follow through. You seem to hop around and scream FIRE!!! then run out the room and into the next. In this case you are saying “YOU"RE DAMNED” and run away by not hanging around for the rebuttal. Why are you so afraid? Are you afraid that you might actually discover the truth that you once held but didn’t understand? I believe in some ways you are sincere. But I absolutely believe, by your example here, that you are really nothing less than angry at God, the Church, the truth for some reason. It sounds like the sin of Pride to me. Because, if you don’t bother to check out the answers, references or whatever, then you are not being sincere, something else is driving you to this insanity. Most of your replies are rooted in anti-Catholic rhetoric derived from ignorant people that came before you. Most of them were not well educated. You along with them reject higher thinking to keep things so simple that you reject that which you do not understand or don’t want to understand.

When I was accussed of being poorly cathechised(sp) my comment was blame that on the good Sisters of Saint Francis and the Jesuits.
JPll may have instituted Devine Mercy Sunday in 2000 RCCwide however in my area it was going on in the Spring everyear since maybe the early 1990s.

Do your homework first…

Hisalone,…

Look at the topic of this thread…Look at the topic…think…Did Jesus ever impose Himself? Are you following the Lord here or is it because of your own convictions…your take does not reflect the reality of experience others have being Catholic.

Think…reflect…pray…discern…are you really helping here???

Hey, I’m not trying to be uncharitable. It’s what I see. Show me I’m wrong. I’ve seen you avoid answering many peoples questions on here. You escape and evade. It would be a good “political” candidate move, but not one for a seeker of truth. Once you believe you’ve “arrived” to the truth you’ve already died. That’s why Catholics call it an on going conversion. This was something I struggled with in the Church of Christ [early 19th century restoration movement]. I kept stumbling across an interesting conversion tool that God used to help me understand the fallacy of my then Protestant faith.

Satan dupes all of us from time to time. If we sin then we are not doing God’s will but Satan’s.

Hisalone,

Look at the title of the thread…think…Are you evangelizing us???

Divine Mercy.

Even so, you supposedly would have been ‘out’ of the Catholic Church by 1991 (Spring) for your ‘18 plus years out’.

Do MY homework?

I’m not the one who needs to do homework, dear His.

The earliest notation of the practice in areas of the U.S. would have most likely have been after 1993 when she was beatified (not canonized but beatified, an earlier step). All records I see indicate the practice took place in ‘some areas’ (Poland, of course, would have been more likely than the U.S. or even some Polish parishes) for ‘some years’ prior to 2000.

Well, if you SAY you attended ‘many’ of these, it’s certainly a pity you didn’t understand what you attended.

Hey, I get where Hisalone is coming from. I’ve been there. He’s just not ready to hear the truth yet. If he’s anything like I was after falling for a Protestant church that I thought was the one true church, then he may have issues admitting the conflicts he’s experiencing. In fact, he’ll most likely deny the fact he is at odds with scripture and is trying to rectify the situation by preaching harder, the same tactic I used to try to show God I believed in what I thought was supposed to be true. It scared me because I couldn’t think of anyone else that could possible be right. But, it was only after reading historical documents call the early church fathers, that I realized what my church was teaching was actually Catholic. The problem I had getting over Catholicism is the fact that there have been and especially today more Catholics fighting the Church than Protestants combined. The Church can not change its stand on doctrine because that would be heresy. That’s why I wanted to become Orthodox, until I realized their history as well could not be reconciled. I finally realized that it wasn’t the Church that was at fault it is the members, sinners. I humbling accepted the truth and confessed my sins to be reconciled with Christ in the Eucharist.

One of the things I don’t like about this forum is the fact that I don’t like the way the moderators ban people so easy. It seems to come out of a since of false pride that I see. If someone is not cursing at you then it should be open for struggling Christians to seek knowledge of truth. But I realize that’s my model, not Karl Keatings. So, if I expect to stay here I must at least try to abide by the rules. And I am, but I have so many big boy things to say to discuss to share and to learn. Not everyone learns exactly the same way.

Hisalone,

Kathleen

Im not here at CAF to evangelize.
Do you get that.
Im here to defend my faith from false allegations.
Ok.
Do I think Im evangelizing Kathleen Gee?
No Im not trying to evangelize Kathleen Gee.

Thanks, Eucharisteo…

There are those whose Catholic sensitivities are afflicted by such behavior…I think here for me it does not appear spiritually healthy…

My tolerance level is hit when the Eucharist is particularly and relentlessly invalidated inspite of many here on the forum…by the same person…when does it become abuse of our faith in the Eucharist…I also see a vulnerability in HIsalone. He still comes across as pretty young in personhood.

Blessings.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine_Mercy_Sunday

The devotion was celebrated unofficially in many places for some years. On April 30, 2000 (Divine Mercy Sunday of that year), Pope John Paul II canonized St. Faustina and designated the Sunday after Easter as the Second Sunday of Easter or the Sunday of the Divine Mercy (Dominica II Paschae seu de divina misericordia) in the General Roman Calendar, with effect from the following year. He also decreed a plenary indulgence associated with this devotion. Pope John Paul II said he felt a closeness to St. Faustina when he was writing Dives in misericordia [1]. He died during the vigil of the Divine Mercy Sunday 2005.
