  1. Have you ever friend-zoned a guy;
  2. If or if not, can anyone explain why we guys get stuck in the friend zone and why don’t more women consider us as perfect life partners (given that we’re already great friends)?

Yes I have and it was because he waited too long to ask me out. Its too bad to because I would not have minded dating him, but by the time he was ready I was dating someone else.

P.S. I am from Chicago too glad I moved before Rham Emanuel took over.

In my experience when girls friend zone a guy it’s completely innocent because they are honestly clueless that the guy in question is being “friend zoned”. So I know a lot of guys who are “friend zoned” but not a lot of girls who I’d “blame” for “friend zoning” a guy.

Remember too that a lot of the time when guys say they don’t want to ask a girl out because they know she’d say no, they’re right-this happened to me twice and in both cases I ended up being right (I learned this after the fact).

Guys sometimes aren’t as clueless as they appear.

Maybe the woman thinks the guy is unattractive? I hope that doesn’t sound mean, but I would imagine that is the biggest reason.

As for the second question, here’s my answers.
  1. I’m not good-looking. These days, most Filipinas say that good-looking men are effeminate-looking men rather than macho men. In any case, I’m neither.
  2. I have interests that are not part of any fads. For instance, a lot of young women here in Manila are into mainstream Korean pop music. I however, am not into mainstream Korean pop music.

Not a girl!!!

But I know the answer…

It means - “You have been judged and found wanting.”

Not saying there’s actually anything wrong with YOU, but that doesn’t matter when you’ve been JUDGED!

Maybe your socks were embarrassing.
Or you brought dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.

We’re talking feminine logic here

ducks and runs for cover…

1 reason that a lot of wonderful guys are just friends is…CHEMISTRY! For whatever reason (and its not always looks) there is just no chemistry.

I can pretty much assure you that unless you are very young you are not being put in the friend zone over your taste in music. Adults who are ready for serious relationships just don’t think like that.

That’s not fair.

  1. Yes, in two types of circumstances:
a) I actually really wanted to date the guy, but he didn’t indicate he was interested at all. By the time he started dropping hints, I was already dating someone else who: 1) asked me out; 2) informed me that this guy actually liked me (and that it was so obvious to everyone else but me). Since by that time I had a friendship (and a boyfriend that I wasn’t interested in cheating on), I had no choice but to friendzone him.

b) When I got married. I had to figure out a way to friendzone all our male friends, because fidelity is important. (I naturally find male friends attractive.)
  1. That I can’t answer. Aside from my examples above (or perhaps because of them), I have enough male friends that I know that some women do “friendzone” guys for reasons other than being faithful to a spouse / boyfriend. Makes no sense to me either. 🤷 I can only suggest that you look for women who are attracted to guy friends, because I can’t be the *only *one out there like me.

I’m only 22. I’ve seen cases where guys have been friend-zoned due to differences in interest. I’ve even seen women who seriously would not date a guy unless if it’s their idol such as Justin Bieber or if the guy is Edward Cullen.

And I’ve know guys who seriously would not date a woman unless she shaved down there. 🤷 There’s weird bananas in every bunch. If i were you, I’d just keep looking.

That’s just perverted. Excuse me as I throw up.

In my case, I’ll see what I can do. Worry not, I will never date such fools.

I guess I assumed that most men felt like that. I always thought I was lucky to find a man who doesn’t.

Consider yourself lucky that you were able to avoid girls that are into Justin Bieber and Edward Cullen. You would not have been the least bit happy. Pursue women who act like adults instead.

While I know that not all Catholics always follow the Church’s teachings 100% of the time, certainly those who would remain chaste would never know about such intimate details, no? (I assume the OP eschews fornication since he’s asking for advice about women on a Catholic forum.) Thus, this should never even be a thought to any, especially the woman.

(I personally would hope that women I date don’t do this, though I’d not ask, as I thoroughly detest the mindset, values system, and culture it represents.)

Now, and I only bring this up because the first two posters felt the need to shove politics down the throats of innocent passers-by in a thread about meeting women, don’t you Americans think that maybe the reason you have such a sclerotic, destructive political culture in your country stems from your addiction to radically hyperbolic polemics and your need always to frame everything into a political paradigm, including threads on relationship advice? I mean really, do you see my location saying “Fiefdom of Christy Smiley-Chops Clark?” I don’t even know anyone who is a member of a political party, yet so many people on here seem to force everyone into a simplistic binary.

Sure, I didn’t support our current mayor when he stood for election, but there are good things he has done that I like, as well as things he has done that I don’t like. In reality though, mayors have limited powers, as do premiers, presidents, and prime ministers. You cannot and should not blame everything on one person any more than you can or should blame things on God. To do so is incredibly childish.

I’m not going to move because of our mayor, just like I won’t move if the NDP forms a government after the next Federal Election. But for crying out loud, enough with the shoehorning of adolescent smears.

That’s what I’ve been doing. 🙂

I have friendzoned a few good Catholic men for being too desperate. I am not accusing you of this, but sometimes Catholic men (especially the ones who have been winning the chastity battle) are too enthusiastic to get married, to the point that women are under the impression that he is not choosing her as the special person that she is, but rather a wife simply fits the paradigm of “good Catholic woman” whom he must marry because he is ready to be married. I have felt like I barely know the guy, and he is already talking about his family ideal in the married life. These things are good, but not when a relationship is hardly developed and the couple are just starting to get to know one another. It scares women off, as well as men.

I believe I have. In my defense, I automatically put ANYONE who is in a relationship/engaged/married into the friendzone. Now, I just graduated from my college of 3 years, and one of my best friends at school was in love with me about all 3 years. When I first met him, he had a girlfriend. I automatically took him off my radar. By the time he broke up with her 3 months later, I was already going out with my crush of nearly a year. Now we just broke up right before I graduated… and I’ve truly given him thought. He’s catholic, though not as practicing as he could be. He’s very nice, and I think we could get along all right. I’m just NOT attracted to him in any way. =/ I feel bad, and I honestly wish I could be. He’s just not the kind of guy I’d want to hold hands with…

EDIT: And he sorta looks like my brother! 😉

So true!

I’ve friend zoned multiple men, I do it immediately as a protective mechanism I think. Men always assume you’re single and looking for a man, and for me that was barely ever the case.

Theres been so many men who I barely met accuse me of this. When I met my husband it was the same thing and he got moved back out of the friend zone very quickly! 😃

Yes, I have friend-zoned a few men, but not always for the same reason. It could be lack of attraction, lack of shared values, not the right time, he was too eager, etc.

You ask “why don’t women consider us perfect life partners considering we’re already friends?” I’d urge you to consider that simply because you’re friends with a woman does not mean you are her perfect life partner. Maybe there are things you could improve on, but sometimes there is just no specific reason why it doesn’t work between two people. The key is not to be insulted. If there are things you can do better, do them. Become as perfect a man as you can be. But if someone isn’t interested, don’t assume that something is wrong with her because she just isn’t seeing how great you are. Sometimes that might be the case, but sometimes she just really isn’t interested. And that’s okay; we’re not meant to be compatible with everyone we’re friends with.
