No, it’s not a JW site. They do not believe in Hell or any kind of eternal punishment.

Just clarifying,

Ruthie
*Hello Ruthie,

JW’s don’t believe in hell? I didn’t know that. They seem so offended when they knock on my door and I tell them I’m Catholic. They look at me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears. Why do you they try to conver **other Christians ***if they don’t believe in hell? I thought their point was to save everyone from hell.

God bless you! 🙂

I have a hard time believe any thing from Trinity Broadcasting with guest like Benny Hinn,Leroy Jenkins, Mike Mardock and other that have been of this show
I saw a special that TBN once did about people who have supposedly been to heaven/hell and come back to tell about it. I couldn’t help but notice that each individual gave different accounts of what the respective places were like. I wondered why people didn’t catch on that their accounts were wildly different than the last. Perhaps these are the “tickled ears” that Paul warned us about.

Bob C. you have had amazing experiences. Have you written of your experiences? I believe Our Lord reveals himself boldly to some of us.
I think the Lord might be nagging me through you to do some writing. I’ve had three “double whammies” (the term was actually coined by my Catholic psychiatrist, who’s had them himself - handy when you’ve got a psychiatrist who’s also spiritual - I see him only a couple of times a year these days due to depression that used to be a problem, caused basically by my father).

Each time the “double whammies” (like a very strong breath going through you in waves from head to foot) highlighted words being spoken by others.

The first “double whammy” highlighted the words, “man after my own heart” and came from a quote about David in the OT, at a time when I needed encouragement.

The second was “little man of great insight and wisdom” referrring to St. Paul.

The third was “an intellectual ministry that went around the world” referring to CS Lewis.

And that was it. Between the second and third I had so many demonic counterfeits that I got quite cynical about the whole thing. But I’ve settled down a bit since. However I wondered how I was supposed to have an “intellectual” ministry since I have no formal training. I complained to the pastor who married my wife and I some time later about this, and he responded, “What sort of ministry did CS Lewis have?” I shrugged and said “Intellectual”. He responded, “He had a literary ministry”.

So I think I’m supposed to write. In fact, I once had a voice cut clear across my complaining mind about a lack of vocation. The voice said, clear as a bell, “Bob, what’s WRONG with being a writer?”

And my psychiatrist is always at me to write. His suggestion is that I use these experiences in fictional form, rather than just literal descriptions on sites like these. He claims that I “write for the ear” rather than the intellect. He likes writing himself, and has written some good short books on psychiatry for lay people, amongst others.

So I suppose I’d better do something about it. But I get frustrated about my daily vocation, and have been dragging my feet over it. Excuses, excuses.

Maybe I’d better spend less time on forums like this and just practise my creative writing.

Thanks for the reminder. I think the Lord might have been using you to nag me.

Bob and Wolf, this is not the website from the first post. This is Veritas Bible, a conservative Catholic site, with the D-R Bible, and the Vulgate, and the Haydock commentary.

Dpoc41, the commentary basically says that, even if someone was raised from the dead to tell us about Hell, unbelievers wouldn’t believe him. They would come up with all kinds of arguments to prove that it wasn’t true. For example, some of the Pharisees told people that the only way Jesus could cast out demons is because He was a demon Himself. (Mt 9:34, 12:24)

HTH,

Ruthie

I agree that there is no real way to describe Hell. And that prayer and acceptance and gratitute and Baptism and Reconciliation are the tools to use with Faith to obtain God’s Mercy to avoid hell.
I would point out that most Christian sects believe that we are not in physical bodies until Judgement day. So to say that Hell is a physical place now that contains souls - Spirits is inconsistent. It may be ture. Also, (in St. Thmoas Acquinas, souls in Hell do not repent. They are sorry they are being punished, but they still hate and still would not accept God’s home except on their terms. IE, they can do what they want. ) . Souls in Hell and the Devil do want to be with God. They do know God exists and they do want Gods love).

In Islamic Theology, hell is meant for purification of the evil, sinful souls. Paradise is permanent. Hell is not permanent. It is temporary. Eventually, all will be taken out of hell and one day the hell will be empty. All will end up in Paradise.

The rewards of Paradise and the punishments of hell are all spiritual things with a new body after death. Every one will get a new body after death. It will be made of Light or smke according to the good or bad deeds of the person. Every one will remain in purgatory until resurrection…

During the period of purgatory, every one will taste of good things and bad things as his/her case may be. But that will only be an indicator of his/her final resting place. It will not be the real reward/ punsihment. The real reward/ punishment will be very severe and clear only after resurrection / accountability. May Allah bless all souls to follow the advice of the prophets. Ameen.

And you shall see them brought before it humbling themselves because of the abasements, looking with a faint glance. And those who believe shall say: Surely the losers are they who have lost themselves and their followers on the resurrection day. Now surely the iniquitous shall remain in lasting chastisement. [S. 42:45; M. Shakir; emphasis mine]

Such is the requital of the enemies of Allah,- the Fire: therein will be for them the Eternal Home: a (fit) requital, for that they were wont to reject Our Signs. [S. 41:28; Yusuf Ali; emphasis mine]

Many will be taken from the hellfire, but hell is still permanent for many.

I’ve mentioned on this site a number of times that on the night my father died, he appeared in my room. He started with an apology, we argued and conversed, and at the end of the proceedings (which probably only lasted a couple of minutes in our time) he gave this terrifying scream which was in obvious response to something approaching him, and then promptly disappeared.

That was just over 31 years ago, and I still remember the scream. It was so terrifying that I started to scream also, despite the fact I could not see what was frightening him so terribly. I would have to say he was terror personified.

I only saw him. But I certainly remember his reaction.

.
Bob.
I worked as a hospice nurse for a while. It has strengthened my belief in heaven and hell. I have seen people die at peace telling me of the angels they see or people who see demons. Those who were “not so nice” as their families described were usually those who had the most frightened look on their faces during and after death. thanks for sharing your very personal story. I would still pray for the repose of his(your father’s) soul. Only God know where he is and we can hope?

I saw a little of that video…and my cat is sitting on my lap and we listened to the audio tape and my cat froze and I thought it was awful…

I also work in hospice…I had one case that was terrible…and after the person died, then I found out how they lived there life…but it looks like the Lord let that person live beyond their last breath so they could change their direction…and I now believe that person is saved…

I think he’s using a childishly literal reading of the Bible.

If the Earth comes to a screeching halt, then Hell would as well, if it’s located inside the earth as he claims.
I have seen HELL , It exists. I am not going to explain what I know, but I know.

As I said, any time someone claims to have seen a vision of hell and is told by Jesus it’s to warn people, we can’t help but turn to the story of the rich man and Lazarus and wonder why Christ would change His mind after 2000 years? Christ warns about hell (or at least punishment in the afterlife) dozens of times - if people don’t get it the first time round, what is one or two people telling fish tales going to do?

Also, I’m amused that the website has an article on the drillers who supposedly tunneled all the way to hell. This has been well documented to have been a hoax.

snopes.com/religion/wellhell.asp
Lazarus was in limbo of the fathers. The rich man was in purgatory.

God goes through great lengths to save every soul from experiencing hell, which can include out of the ordinary happenings. It does not surprise me at all that he would allow someone to see hell if it could cause even one person to repent.

I pretty sure he’s in Hell, and all I saw was his fear as it or the devil, or both, approached. He’d spent his whole married life treating his family badly, lost his Catholic faith years before, and in his very own words, had “… been an absolute mongrel to you!”

I’ve been through this before with others, who try to get me to hope he’s in Purgatory.

Purgatory to me is an inward fire, a burning of dross. But he could clearly see something coming for him, and it terrified him. Earlier he even stated at one stage during the discussions, “You’ll wonder if you should pray for me. It’s too late for me. All I was expected to do was look after my own family, and I didn’t even do that!”

I had a vision one night of my old Protestant pastor who warned me about a certain lady. He died in 1992, but he’d warned me before he died about the same lady, but not quite so directly.

In the vision he stated, “Watch out for (certain lady)! Your father’s paying for it, believe me! You don’t want to join him!!” Then he repeated, “Watch out for (certain lady)!” Then the vision disappeared.

You’ll notice the bit about “… paying for it”.

Incidentally nothing has happened in regard to the particular lady, but I’m wary about visiting her and her husband as a result of this. I’m not going into the background, but that’s the story.
“You’ll wonder if you should pray for me. It’s too late for me. All I was expected to do was look after my own family, and I didn’t even do that!”

This would tend to make me take that vision as false, if your dad spoke to you post-death, if he was allowed that, then that would have been under direction of God, and he wouldn’t have said it was too late to pray for him…

You should pray for your Dad, and that I think you are probably doing irrespective of what was said.

The thing that is so hard for me to reconcile w/ my faith and background/mindset is this: The experiences of people (including) small children that die and then are revived. Many of them “died” having no faith in God/Christ, but they still saw beauty and light and hope, and “the being of light” (ie Christ) Of course they came back changed people, now wanting to love people like never before, and that was the theme over and over again: LOVE ONE ANOTHER. It’s wierd because it wasn’t love Christ with all your heart, observe the rules, go to Church, etc…it was LOVE LOVE LOVE fellow human beings.

I happened on the NDE sites and read so many of them…the few people who did not see light but traveled downwards were those who were not kind to others or who in one way or another were prideful.

It has me puzzled, as the writings of old also say the same kind of thing. The Light does not ask people, where did you go to Church, who did you pray to, etc…

God goes through great lengths to save every soul from experiencing hell, which can include out of the ordinary happenings. It does not surprise me at all that he would allow someone to see hell if it could cause even one person to repent.
Then why does God say, through a parable, “If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead”? (Luke 16:31) Again, why would God suddenly change His mind after almost 2000 years?

I’ll pray for him, but there comes a time in everybody’s life when they make a choice. He’d turned against God years before.

Personally I think it was real, and I think it’s too late for him. You didn’t see or hear the scream. It was so terrifying I started to scream, purely because of the contagious fear, as I could not see what terrified him so much.

My old Protestant pastor said this much - “I think they (Catholics) tend to soft-pedal judgment. I think they do anyway.” And I think he was right. From various comments on this site, there does seem to be a tendency on the part of some Catholics to think nobody is lost, regardless of how they behaved. Once upon a time the Catholic Church used to preach nothing but judgment, if some older Catholics are to be believed.

Now I think it’s gone a bit too far in the opposite direction.

Id like to know what you think of this powerful message from a protestant minister who had an out of the body experience and witnessed hell home.flash.net/~evt/hell.htm
I’m a bit skeptical about him literally being in a hell. I don’t doubt he believes what he experienced was real. I just feel that it was all in his mind.

This person is a JW or SDA preacher, just my opinion,I never found a site name
hi bill. actually he is a calvary chaple member which is kind of a reformed pentacostal denomination. anyhow. as a member of the military police, my B.S. meter went sky high with this guy. he had so many contridictions, it wasnt funny. sounds like he and his wife cooked up this yarn, so they could travel around the country, making money off protestants who want to be titilated by scary stories. i get this. i was raised protestant. they always were having speakers who were talking about satan worshippers sacrificing people and such. pure garbage. id love to hook this guy up to a lie detector test. also living in hawaii and being familiar with the tiger shark. its interesting that he can stand so comfortably after supposedly being bit. or that he has a leg at all. tiger sharks, usually dont stop. they will eat a man. peace:)

What happened was that the tiger shark took a little nibble, and then spat it out, “Yuk!” it said. “This bloke’s a Protestant!” and then swam off to look for a Catholic on a surf board.

I live near Brisbane, Australia, and there’s an island on the outside of Moreton Bay called Stradbroke Island. Well worth a visit if you’re ever here. It has some beautiful beaches.

But on the inner side of the island there’s a place called Amity Point. A few years ago a young lady on an outing with a church group was killed there by bull sharks. She’d unwisely swum out into deep water (pretty easy at Amity Point) and they took off both arms. It was a sad and tragic end for a church outing.
