Gosnell Trial Witness: Baby Abortion Survivor Was ‘Swimming’ in Toilet 'Trying to Get Out’

From CNS News

On the last day of testimony before the prosecution rests in the murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell, a former worker at Gosnell’s clinic testified that she saw one late-term baby who survived an abortion “swimming” in a toilet and “trying to get out.”

Kareema Cross, a “medical assistant” who worked at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society clinic for four-and-a-half years, testified in a Philadelphia court today, telling of the horrors of babies who survived abortions only to have their necks snipped with scissors.

“Did you ever see those babies move?” asked Prosecutor Joanne Pescatore.

“Yes, once in the toilet,” said Cross.

The baby “was like swimming,” she said. “Basically, trying to get out.”

Adrienne Moton, an employee at the clinic, then took the baby and snipped the back of its neck while its mother was still in the room.

I don’t even know what to say after that.
It’s hard to believe this is America in the 21st century. Incredible barbarism.

They threw a baby in a toilet and let it drown.
They threw breathing babies away in boxes and bags.
They dismembered human babies.

An abortion-provider is not a good human being. He is a sinner in dire danger of Hell. She is a murderer.

I’d like to say that I don’t expect to see mobs tearing apart abortion facilities because American citizens who would never tolerate the barbarism of drowning babies, smothering babies or allow babies to die of exposure or in the trash, are American citizens who trust in the law and in the courts and in the legislature to take appropriate action.

Instead, I fear, we won’t see any such acts not because of a sense of civility but out of an acceptance that this is the way things are and cannot be changed without offending a pro-choice individual’s sensibilities.

This trial should bring shame upon every single abortion provider and bring every state legislature to hold every medical office - whether it provides abortions or not - to high standards of care and well-being. That’s only a start.

It should also motivate we who understand that a pregnancy is intended only to create a human being, and that terminating a pregnancy means murdering an innocent and helpless child, to a militant and unwavering stance.

I have had wicked thoughts from this trial. None have gone to terrorism, but some have certainly crossed The Line:
  • An ad campaign, showing burglars dragging a young girl out of bed as she kicks and screams, cutting a hole in her head, sucking her brain out. Think Saw in terms of gore. And end with “just how a baby is removed from her first home, her mother’s womb, and murdered legally in the abortion clinic.”
  • A false flag campaign aimed at embarrassing the industry - each abortion clinic and abortion group will receive official-looking packets from a company claiming to be working on an Industry Branding Campaign on behalf of some actual-sounding but not real abortion group (ie, “Informed Decisions Council”). The posters will be leaked to shame abortion clinics, ie:
    – Posters of children with the tag “Some people don’t need to be born”, ie:
    – show a girl playing on swings with the text “By the time she is 21, she will have added 11,000 tons of greenhouse gas to the atmosphere, 400 tons of trash to landfills, and cost $35,000 in public money. Do we need her?”
    – show a boy with the text “By 13, he will have assaulted an 11-year-old. By 15, he will have stolen a car. By 17, he will have committed his first murder. By 35 he will have spent a total of 16 years in prison. Do we need him?”
    – show a family of five, the mother appearing to hold a baby, two kids standing. Photoshop out the baby’s face and hands, another child’s face and hands, so that two parents and one child and two empty sets of clothes remain. The text: “Three kids would have put us in the poorhouse. Our daughter is happier to be an only child. We didn’t need her younger brothers.”
  • A letter-writing campaign aimed at clinic workers and doctors. Thank them for performing the abortion some months or years ago, and detail how “good” life is. ie “I just have to say I’m so thankful that we didn’t have that baby. I left that man two weeks later, and now I’m very happy with my third husband. We live in our big beautiful house with our four dogs and our swimming pool. I guess you could say our dogs are our children, LOL.”
  • Letter-writing, phase two: open the mind to questions. “I just have to ask, has anyone else been saying they’ve been having problems getting pregnant? I had two abortions when I was younger and that was 12 years ago but I just can’t get pregnant, we’ve seen three different doctors and we’ve tried in-vitro, but nothing seems to work.”

Good afternoon, Tighty Whitey,

All the news on this thread brings to my mind the observation that, “Since actions speak louder than words, then the procedures of mass organized abortions appear as ‘body English’ fatal hate speech.” I think mass commercialized abortions are the worst non-verbal hate speech in America, if not in the whole world.

Thank you for starting this thread and bringing this information to our attention.

God loves you,
Don

One of the linked articles (I’m sorry I don’t remember which) stated that records kept by Gosnell often showed “fetal age” as being 24.6 weeks, irrespective of size of the baby. It seems that age was just inserted, irrespective of the truth.

My question is (I guess rhetorically) it was shown that 24.6 weeks is past the legal limit in Pennsylvania. According to Pennsylvania law what “crime” is it considered to do this? Murder? or Illegal abortion? I’m just wondering, I guess, if just this evidence is enough to convict him.

I wonder how common it is to actually lie about fetal age. I once read the trial transcripts of a malpractice trial. The “doctor” had attempted an abortion on a supposedly 22 week baby. baby was born alive before the “procedure” was complete. The baby was circa 36 weeks. At 36 weeks babies born normally do not even require a NICU stay. thankfully that doctor had a bit more of a conscience and did not kill the newborn.

I wonder if this trial is just the tip of the iceberg. How often does this happen?

My baby was born prematurely. I remember how they could not determine his age by sonogram. The doctor wanted to decide where he would be better off, a few more days in mom, or in the NICU.

Even after he was born the Neonatologists were a bit unsure how old he was. His size was that of a 30 week baby, yet developmentally he was less mature than a 30 week old.

He was 2 weeks younger, just a bit over 28 weeks.

]OJ was given wall-to-wall coverage. Scott Peterson was given wall-to-wall coverage.

This trial, just based on the utilitarian “if it bleeds it leads” criteria, makes both those two cases seem like a walk in the park.

But yet it took a coordinated “denial of service” attack via Twitter to get the MSM outlets to even acknowledge the trial existed. And even now…almost nothing.
That is because the MSM is leftist, supports abortion rights and knows that if the public at large hears the details about this then it might mean the downfall of Planned Parenthood and even legal abortion. They are protecting their own, just like they protected Obama, Biden, et al in the last election. They will play up to the hilt a graduate student who wants free condoms, but will ignore a mass murderer at Planned Parenthood.

Here is Mark Steyn’s as usual brilliant take on this:

In America, all atrocities are not equal: Minutes after the Senate declined to support so-called gun control in the wake of the Newtown massacre, the president rushed ill-advisedly on air to give a whiny, petulant performance predicated on the proposition that one man’s mass infanticide should call into question the constitutional right to bear arms. Simultaneously, the media remain terrified that another man’s mass infanticide might lead you gullible rubes to question the constitutional right to abortion, so the ongoing Kermit Gosnell trial in Philadelphia has barely made the papers — even though it involves large numbers of fully delivered babies who were decapitated and had their feet chopped off and kept in pickling jars. Which would normally be enough to guarantee a perpetrator front-page coverage for weeks on end. In the most recent testimony, one of the “clinic”’s “nurses” testified that she saw a baby delivered into the toilet, where his little arms and feet flapped around as if trying to swim to safety. Then another “women’s health worker” reached in and, in the procedure’s preferred euphemism, “snipped” the baby’s neck — i.e., severed his spinal column. “Doctor” Gosnell seems likely to prove America’s all-time champion mass murderer. But his victims are ideologically problematic for the media, and so the poor blood-soaked monster will never get his moment in the spotlight

Pray that the horror has passed the tipping point where it can no longer be ignored.

BTW along with Obama’s whiny tirade that we want children to die since gun control was not enacted, when asked AGAIN about Gosnell, true to slippery form, he quoted Clinton that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. In other words, when your position makes you look bad, don’t answer, just obfuscate some more. Obama is ON RECORD defending the killing of babies born alive as a matter between “a woman and her doctor.”

How many more children are killed every day by abortion than in decades with gun violence but because abortion is the Left’s pet project, they cannot even acknowledge their hypocrisy. What a disgrace!

The reality was that Planned Parenthood needed a Gosnell to refer patients who had passed the legal age of abortion. Further Gosnell circumvented the law both by faking sonograms or claiming the age was within the boundaries or with the Delaware clinic where he practiced, he would START the abortion in Delaware and then move the patient to Pennsylvania where a later term baby could be aborted.

He was, in fact a “niche” provider as noted below:

***James Taranto wrote in the Wall Street Journal:

The advent of “safe, legal abortion” didn’t interfere with Gosnell’s back-alley career. The grand jury’s account suggests that other abortionists treated him less as an outlaw than as a niche player in the abortion market. He earned a bad reputation in Philadelphia but received referrals from across the Eastern Seaboard. Many of the women dispatched to him were “well beyond” 24 weeks pregnant, the legal limit in Pennsylvania.

I heard interviews with a number of people, one of whom lived close to Gosnell’s clinic which purports to be a "womens and childrens’ facility. Thinking it would cater to a low income woman who was having problems during her pregnancy, she took the friend to the clinic. After a short interview the staff person said they “couldn’t help her UNLESS she wanted an abortion.” As does Planned Parenthood, hiding behind the skirts of "women’s reproduction seems to work well.

This in fact may be beginning of the end of abortion.Even the most ardent supporter of abortion on demand has to be sickened by Gosnell.Their mantra"safe and rare" has been exposed for the lie it is.

We pray it is so! While the usual suspects try to claim this is a most unusual set of circumstances, the Pro Life Movement has done a good job in following up and documenting substandard conditions, botched abortions with multiple trips to the hospital within short periods of time, and other problems of the industry. This is nothing new. Unfortunately these reports were often ignored. But the more is learned about Gosnell, the more attention will be paid to abortuaries. Even the sainted Planned Parenthood has been found wanting and recently some have been closed or restricted. As one article noted, even in ordinary circumstances you can’t avoid dead babies and traumatized women. Peel back a few layers of this onion and there is rot at the center.

I pray that the Catholics of this country wake up and realize that while the Republican party is far from perfect (and indeed quite flawed), those in the Democrat party who are so knee-deep in abortion rights politics and so in bed with the abortion lobby deserve active opposition from all Catholics - even liberal Catholics. If enough Catholics voted effectively pro-life, then we wouldn’t be talking about Planned Parenthood now.

As we know from CAF during the election process, many Catholics turned a blind eye to the excesses and position of the DNC with implausible claims that somehow Democrat tax policy or support of unions overshadowed the reality of abortion support from Obama, through his cabinet (post birth abortion anyone?) and the aborto-palooza during the DNC. As was noted in one of the linked articles Sandra Fluke becomes Joan of Arc as she supports “reproductive rights” for overprivileged white Ivy Leaguers while ignoring the reality that babies from minority mothers are as likely to be aborted as born. Gosnell was the perfect poster child ostensibly providing a “needed service” in a minority community. It is no coincidence that the majority of abortion clinics and certainly Planned Parenthood facilities are located in these communities. The large clinic in our city is smack dab in the middle of a traditionally minority neighborhood (I used to work in that area and was often the only white person in the supermarket other than the white security guard).

The Democrat party claims to be the party of the poor, of minorities, but clearly that support does not extend to anything but those who can vote (dead or alive ;)). I just hope the trend is turning. In our Parish I did see far fewer Obama stickers this round. Maybe reason and our faith will prevail next time.

***“All in all, this has been a tough week,” Obama said late Friday at the White House. “But we’ve seen the character of our country once more. And as president, I’m confident that we have the courage and the resilience and the spirit to overcome these challenges — and to go forward, as one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Justice for all apparently doesn’t include unborn children Planned Parenthood kills in abortions***.

Poor Obama…a tough week? Really for whom? Must have interferred with his golf plans or some jet setting vacation. As to attending the Planned Parenthood gala, it’s “par for the course” so to speak.

Disgusting is right.
